Abstract

The low level of students’ critical thinking skills remains an unresolved issue due to the suboptimal application of innovative learning strategies and the limited use of instructional media specifically designed to enhance higher-order thinking. This study aimed to develop, validate, and evaluate the practicality and effectiveness of an Interactive Science and Social Studies (IPAS) Book based on QR Codes to enhance elementary students’ critical thinking skills. This research employed a development approach by adapting the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate). The participants included three experts for content, media, and language validation; nine students with high, medium, and low abilities for the practicality test; and thirty students as the sample for the effectiveness test. Data were collected through questionnaires and critical thinking skill tests, then analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results revealed that the developed product was (1) valid, with a Content Validity Index (CVI) of 1.00; (2) practical, with a practicality score of 73%; and (3) effective, based on a Wilcoxon test result of 0.000 (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the QR Code-based Interactive IPAS Book is proven to be valid, practical, and effective in enhancing elementary students’ critical thinking skills and holds potential for broader implementation in classroom learning.

Abstract

Rendahnya literasi sains siswa Indonesia salah satunya disebabkan oleh proses pembelajaran IPA yang masih konvensional. Oleh karena itu pembelajaran IPA khususnya di sekolah dasar (SD) harus dilakukan perbaikan. Salah satu rekomendasi perbaikan adalah pembelajaran IPA berorientasi hakekat sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan hakekat sains dalam pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kajian literatur. Data bersumber dari berbagai literatur yang berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar. Tahapan penelitian ini mencakup pengumpulan literatur, telaah literatur, seleksi literatur berdasarkan tujuan penelitian, analisis data yang terkumpul dengan teknik analisis isi dan penarikan kesimpulan. Sumber data diperoleh dari berbagai literatur berupa jurnal, buku dan prosiding dan literatur lain yang berkaitan dengan literasi sains dan hakekat sains. Data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar dapat dilakukan dengan pola ; 1) Produk-Proses-Aplikasi-Sikap yaitu dimulai dengan menjelaskan konsep IPA lalu dilakukan kegiatan ilmiah untik verifikasi konsep dan dilanjutkan dengan penerapan konsep dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan pengenalan sikap ilmiah ; 2) Proses-Sikap-Produk-Aplikasi yaitu dimulai dengan kegiatan ilmiah dan disertai pengembangan sikap ilmiah dan kemudian didapatkan produk sains dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan aplikasi produk sains dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan 3) Aplikasi-Produk-Sikap-Proses dimulai dengan menjelaskan sebuah peristiwa aplikasi sains dan lalu identifikasi konsep sains yang ada dengan berpedoman pada sikap ilmiah dan lalu dilakukan kegiatan ilmiah untik verifikasi konsep.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas penggunaan laboratorium virtual Tinkercad terhadap kreativitas mahasiswa pada mata kuliah elektronika digital dasar. Populasi penelitian ini sebanyak 3 kelas mahasiswa di program studi Pendidikan fisika dan Pendidikan IPA yang mengambil mata kuliah elektronika sebanyak 42 orang. Sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester V prodi Pendidikan Fisika sebanyak 15 orang dan mahasiswa semester IV Pendidikan IPA sebanyak 16 orang. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar kerja mahasiswa berbasis proyek pada modul elektronika digital yang telah dinyatakan valid, praktis dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kreativitas. Data dianalisis dengan analisis deskriptif dan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rerata skor kreativitas mahasiswa pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 85,4 (SD 6,04) dalam kategori sangat tinggi, dan kelompok kontrol sebesar 80,9 (SD 3,83) dalam kategori tinggi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan lab virtual Tinkercad berbasis penilaian proyek efektif dalam meningkatkan kreativitas mahasiswa.

Abstract

Education is expected to be able to form a whole person who is aware of the importance of comprehensive learning in facing global challenges so that education must provide opportunities for students to learn in a learning process that is optimally designed. Science learning, especially physics, cannot be separated from identifying natural phenomena through observation activities and deeper exploration through experimental activities. However, there are still many challenges in implementing science learning, especially physics in the field. To identify the problems of science learning, especially high school physics, this study was conducted with the hope of obtaining accurate data related to the problems faced by educators and students. This research is classified as qualitative research with a case study type. The research data will be analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The subjects in this study were school principals, physics teachers, and high school students in Singaraja city. The focus of the research is focused on six aspects related to problems or challenges in physics learning, namely: aspects of student readiness, teacher readiness, IT-based learning innovation, learning process, learning facilities, and high school student learning outcomes. ABSTRAKPendidikan diharapkan mampu membentuk manusia seutuhnya yang menyadari pentingnya pembelajaran yang komprehensif dalam menghadapi tantangan global sehingga pendidikan harus memberikan kesempatan kepada peserta didik untuk belajar dalam suatu proses pembelajaran yang dirancang secara optimal. Pembelajaran IPA khususnya fisika tidak dapat dipisahkan dari mengidentifikasi fenomena alam melalui kegiatan observasi dan eksplorasi yang lebih dalam melalui kegiatan eksperimen. Akan tetapi, masih banyak tantangan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran IPA khususnya fisika di lapangan. Untuk mengidentifikasi permasalahan pembelajaran IPA khususnya fisika SMA, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan harapan dapat memperoleh data yang akurat terkait permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh pendidik dan peserta didik. Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Data penelitian akan dianalisis melalui tiga tahap yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan simpulan dan verifikasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru fisika, dan peserta didik SMA di kota Singaraja. Fokus penelitian difokuskan pada enam aspek terkait permasalahan atau tantangan dalam pembelajaran fisika yaitu: aspek kesiapan peserta didik, kesiapan guru, inovasi pembelajaran berbasis IT, proses pembelajaran, sarana prasarana pembelajaran, dan hasil belajar peserta didik SMA.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the results of expert validation of ethnoscience-based teaching materials to develop student competence in critical thinking and caring attitudes. Expert validation in this research is part of the development of ethnoscience-based teaching materials to develop student competence in critical thinking and caring attitudes using the 4D model. This model includes stages, namely Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate so that it will produce ethnoscience-based teaching materials that are valid, practical and effective in developing students' competence in critical thinking and caring attitudes. Expert validation is included in the Develop stage. Validation of ethnoscience-based teaching materials to develop students' competence in critical thinking and caring attitudes was carried out by 3 experts, namely material experts, media experts and language experts. The research results show that the assessment from material experts is 96.7, media experts are 90.5, and language experts are 100. Thus, the average value of expert validation assessments is 95.7, including the Very Valid criteria. The product, in the form of ethnoscience-based teaching materials to develop students' competence in critical thinking and caring attitudes, was revised based on input from validators. The results of product revisions before and after validation are divided into 5 things, namely: 1) Adding indicators and numbering to Basic Competencies; 2) Improvements to tables that were previously scanned from source or reference books were revised by creating tables manually. The table has also been assigned a sequential number; 3) Addition of photos and videos related to ethnoscience; 4) Ethnoscience-based investigative activities; 5) Changes in the appearance and form of the formative tests available at the end of each chapter.

Abstract

This study investigates the profile of critical thinking skills and cultural literacy among students in the Basic Chemistry course at the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Applied Sciences, Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika. In the context of globalization and rapid technological advancements, critical thinking and cultural literacy are crucial competencies for facing the challenges of the 21st century and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Despite the foundational importance of Basic Chemistry in science education, challenges such as conceptual complexity and low student engagement remain prevalent. Employing a descriptive quantitative approach, this research involves students from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics Education programs. Instruments used include critical thinking tests and cultural literacy questionnaires measuring understanding of local cultural values and diversity. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews and analyzed descriptively using statistical methods. Findings reveal that students exhibit low levels of critical thinking skills and cultural literacy, with strengths in data interpretation and cultural preservation, while weaknesses are evident in identifying relevant information and cultural promotion. These results highlight the need for innovative instructional models integrating local wisdom into the learning process. The proposed Free Inquiry-Based Etnochemistry Model aims to enhance both critical thinking skills and cultural literacy by contextualizing scientific concepts within local cultural practices, offering a holistic solution to contemporary educational demands.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media flipbook berorientasi kearifan lokal Bali yang valid, praktis dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner dan tes. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif kuantitatif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan validitas media memperoleh indeks CVI sebesar 1,00 dan 0,93 dengan kategori validitas istimewa. Berdasarkan penilaian guru, media yang dikembangkan memperoleh kategori sangat praktis dengan persentase sebesar 92,14%. Selain itu dalam uji kelompok kecil dan uji perorangan, media pembelajaran memperoleh kategori sangat praktis dengan persentase 89,69% dan 90,91%. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba, produk dinyatakan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan perolehan nilai sig. 0,000 < 0,05 dengan effect size sebesar 1,654 yang tergolong tinggi. Produk juga dinyatakan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan perolehan sig. 0,000 < 0,05 dengan effect size sebesar 1,445 yang tergolong tinggi. Sementara itu, produk juga dinyatakan berpengaruh signifikan secara simultan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan berpikir kritis siswa kelas V SD.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the need to design a challenge-based learning model (CBLM) integrated with differentiated learning strategies (DLS). The result of this integration is called a differentiated challenge-based learning model (DCBLM). A descriptive research design (survey) was applied in this study. A total of 46 high school teachers who taught science classes (biology, chemistry, and physics) throughout Bali participated in this study. The research results showed that high school teachers have attempted to implement various innovative learning models. Five innovative learning models and their implementation problems were also found and discussed in this study. Teachers fervently hope that DCBLM will exist to enhance and maximize CBLM's assets. Regarding 21st-century learning, DCBLM is highly pertinent, and the Merdeka Curriculum is implemented in Indonesia to shape students’ character according to the Pancasila students’ profile

Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain the characteristics, validity, practicality, and effectiveness of teaching modules in the implementation of the independent curriculum to improve the quality of the learning process and student learning outcomes. This type of research is development research to produce learning tools in the form of science project teaching modules for SMK that are valid, practical, and effective. The development model used is a 4D adaptation model, which is composed of the stages of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and test techniques. The research results show that the teaching module used had characteristics with a table format arranged based on modifications from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The teaching module was in accordance with the multimedia and computer and network engineering departments. The results of the validity test show that the summarized teaching module was classified as very valid in terms of the validity of the content, material, and language. Based on teacher assessment, the teaching module was classified as very practical. The results of the effectiveness test show that the teaching module was effective in improving the quality of the learning process and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of ethnoscience learning on the development of students' cognitive and affective aspects. This quasi-experimental research uses a pre-test post-test non-equivalent control group design. This research was carried out in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The population of this study was 320 class VII students at MTsN 1 Mataram, with a sample size of 34 people in the experimental class and 34 people in the control class. Data was obtained from test instruments for the "cognitive" aspect in the form of essays and questionnaire instruments for the "affective" aspect in the form of attitude statements. The statistical test used in this research is one-way MANCOVA with one covariate. The results of the research show that there is a significant difference in the influence of using ethnoscience learning on cognitive and affective learning simultaneously or together after controlling for students' initial abilities. The cognitive and affective scores of students in classes that use ethnoscience learning are higher than those in conventional classes. The conclusion of this research is that ethnoscience learning has a positive effect on the cognitive and affective aspects of junior high school students at MTsN 1 Mataram.
