Abstract

Overcome this challenge is by participating in partnerships. However, the implementation of the partnership pattern faces challenges, particularly indiscipline in complying with the agreed-upon rules between the farmer and the nucleus company. This lack of discipline can significantly affect the success of the broiler farming business. The success of a broiler farming business is determined by various factors related to the behavior of farmers, including their knowledge, attitudes, skills, motivation, and socio-economic conditions. To understand the effect of farmer behavior on the success of broiler farming, it is essential to study the implementation of partnership patterns. This research was conducted in Central Java Province, with a focus on Banyumas Regency and Klaten Regency. Respondents were selected using the snowball sampling technique, resulting in a sample size of 90 respondents. Data were analyzed both descriptively and quantitatively, and models were constructed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) method. The findings revealed that (1) the implementation of the broiler farming business partnership pattern was categorized as very good; (2) the success level of the broiler farming business was categorized as very successful; and (3) attitudes, skills, motivation, and socio-economic conditions of farmers affect the success of broiler farming toward the implementation of partnership patterns. Farmers are advised to proactively propose to partner companies to focus on improving attitudes, skills, motivation, and socioeconomic conditions that have a positive effect on business success, involving training activities, technical development, and motivational support.

Abstract

Indonesia, a major black tea, exported approximately 89% of black tea between 2018-2022, faces a substantial surplus, highlighting the need for producers to understand domestic consumer behavior amidst evolving tea consumption patterns. This study analyzes the influence of product attributes and the purchasing decisions of tea consumers in Central Java, Indonesia. This study employed a survey method. The study site was selected from the Banyumas District. Data were collected using purposive sampling techniques from 300 respondents and interviews with consumers who consumed black tea in tea bag packaging of original tea variants and/or jasmine tea, and made tea buying decisions. Data were analyzed using a combination of quantitative and structural equation modelling (SEM) with the analysis software AMOS 24. The results show that taste and brand have a significant effect on consumer attitudes; consumer attitudes have a significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions; consumer purchasing decisions have a significant effect on consumer satisfaction; and consumer satisfaction has a significant effect on consumer loyalty. The Ministry of Agriculture wants to reduce the export of raw materials and make the most of extra tea production. They plan to do so by promoting local tea brands. This will help Indonesian tea to become more known both internationally and locally. This will also improve the income of farmers and small businesses by increasing the value of their products.

Abstract

The availability of quality seeds is critical to supporting the sustainability of agriculture, which is further reinforced by the success of contract farming between seed companies and partner farmers. To foster a mutually beneficial partnership, it is essential to align the needs of farmers with the facilities and services provided by the company through well-defined contract terms and conditions. This study aims to explore the contract attribute preferences and their importance levels among farmers, growth leaders, and companies using a quantitative approach. A discrete choice experiment utilizing the conditional logit model was employed to investigate the preferences of 170 farmers, while a descriptive analysis was used to outline the preferences of other stakeholders. The findings indicate that farmers prefer written agreements over informal ones, favor shorter contract durations, and demand higher prices. Additionally, farmers showed a marked preference for receiving inputs, incentives, and credits. The preference patterns of stakeholders align with those of farmers regarding agreement form, inputs, price, incentives, and credit, although stakeholders tend to favor contracts with longer durations. Based on the rank-based quotient method, both growth leaders and farmers identified price, input subsidies, incentives, credits, agreement form, and duration as the most important attributes in maize seed partnership contracts, in descending order of importance. Contrarily, the company prioritizes input subsidies over other attributes, including price, duration, credit, incentive, and agreement form. These insights can inform the design of more suitable and effective contracts, thereby fostering sustainable partnership relationships in the future.

Abstract

The current food crisis has become a serious threat to humanity. Other issues such as climate change, farmer regeneration, and excessive use of chemical inputs at the producer level threaten sustainability in agriculture. The sustainability of agricultural practices among farmers remains questionable due to the small number of organic farmers in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of sustainability of rice cultivation and the factors that influence the sustainability of rice cultivation in various types of cultivation in Yogyakarta. Research on farm sustainability that is analyzed in a multidimensional (5 dimensions) and compares 3 types of cultivation has not been widely carried out in Indonesia. This research was conducted in Bantul and Sleman with 90 respondents. The analysis method used Multidimensional Scaling-RAPFISH and Tobit regression. The results showed interesting findings where the 3 types of rice cultivation are in the sufficient (moderately sustainable) category even though the 3 have differences in the use of inputs, especially in the ecological dimension. The factors of education, frequency of attending extension and activity in farmer groups, the use of good agricultural practices, land ownership, and type of cultivation had a positive effect on increasing the sustainability of rice cultivation in various types of cultivation in Yogyakarta. The results of this research have an impact on agricultural extension field education provided by the government to increase the sustainability of rice cultivation in Yogyakarta. It is recommended that the 3 types of rice farmers to pay more attention to the use of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to increase sustainability.
