Abstract

The partner for community service activities was the youth posyandu in Tambakboyo Hamlet, Mliwis. Adolescent boys at Mitra Posyandu have a smoking habit. There were 25% of teenage boys who have tried to stop smoking but failed. The problems faced by posyandu partners are the difficulty of generating teenagers' intention to stop smoking, teenagers also don't know how to stop smoking, and there are still many teenagers who relapse or smoke again even though they are already at the action stage. The aim of this program was to provide smoking cessation education and health messages with the stages of change in smoking behavior in each adolescent using a transtheoretical model approach and monitoring and strengthening smoking cessation by adolescent cadres. The methods used were socializing activities to youth posyandu, providing media on how to stop smoking, providing education regarding efforts to stop smoking, training youth cadres, designing applications for monitoring efforts to stop smoking, and assisting teenagers to stop smoking. The results of this service were that there was an increase in adolescent knowledge by 0.17% after being given smoking cessation education, the formation of peer counselors consisting of adolescent cadres, the existence of health media in the form of pocket books and booklets, and the creation of the Smoke Stop Step (3S) application to monitor efforts of quit smoking. After using the application and providing health messages according to the smoking cessation stages, there were 3 teenagers who started to intend to stop smoking and 1 teenager entered the preparatory stage (preparing to stop smoking).

Abstract

The low coverage of family planning acceptors during the COVID-19 pandemic became one concern of public health. This study aimed to analyze the factors related to family planning participation among women of childbearing age during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size was about 373 respondents who were taken using quota sampling among women of childbearing age in Mojolaban, Sukoharjo, Indonesia. Data collection was carried out using an online structured questionnaire. The data analysis used logistic regression. There was a significant relationship between family planning status and husband's support (p-value <0.034), access to information (p-value <0.0001), and access to health services (p-value <0.0001). Multivariable analysis showed that health service access affected women's participation in family planning (OR 4.135, 95%CI 2.276-7.511). The probability of women participating using family planning was four times higher if they categorized them as having high/low health service access. Access to information is the most important factor that women of childbearing age want to use contraception during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, health workers need to continue to educate couples of childbearing ages about the side effects of each type of contraception so they feel safe in their use.

Abstract

Adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health is still considered taboo. This view prevents students from telling their parents about their health problems. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between factors related to adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health. This research method is analytically observational with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents involved were students of classes VII and VIII, totaling 117 people. The results showed no relationship between gender (p-value= 0.182, OR (95%CI)= 0.846-3.686), information access (p-value= 0.561, OR (95%CI)= 0.603-3.314), gender compatibility (p-value= 0.302, OR (95%CI)= 0.707-5.020), and parental credibility (p-value= 0.100, OR (95%CI)= 0.950-4.370) with adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health. Adolescent-parent communication about reproductive health, which is low and high, has almost the same percentage—of recommendations to parents to improve communication with adolescents regarding reproductive health further. The school also needs to add reproductive health education activities.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that attacks the respiratory system with its spread quite quickly and widely and the efforts made by the Indonesian government by implementing the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy. The decrease in the incidence of Covid-19 in 2022 has led to changes in learning policies in schools that can increase the risk of stress in adolescents. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between age, sex, vaccine history, academic achievement, length of study, knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and screen time with stress levels in high school students. The study population was high school students from 4 schools in Surakarta and the sample used in this study was 605 respondents and was selected based on purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and data analysis using Chi Square test. The results showed a relationship between sex (POR 2.619 CI: 1.881-3.647), knowledge (POR 0.691 CI: 0.492-0.970), behavior (POR 1.509 CI: 1.086-2.097), and there was no relationship between age, vaccine history, academic achievement, length of study, attitude, screen time with high school students' stress levels. High school students who are female, have less knowledge and behave less well are at risk of experiencing more severe stress. So it is necessary to provide accurate information about Covid-19 to high school students so that they can understand and contribute to making good Covid-19 prevention efforts.

Abstract

Abstract: Teenagers are a group at risk of stunting. Adolescent girls, as prospective mothers who will give birth to children, need thorough knowledge and preparation from an early age. However, the lack of education about teenage stunting is a problem that needs to be addressed. Twelve toddlers in Waru Village, Baki District, and Sukoharjo Regency are at risk of stunting, and one toddler is included in the stunting category based on the TB/U Z-score calculation. Adolescents in this area have never been involved in stunting prevention activities. This community service activity aims to form peer educators from youth groups for other teenagers in Waru Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency. There are two stages in implementing the main activities, namely 1) providing health education to teenagers using an Android-based application created by the proposing team and 2) assisting peer educators in campaigning for stunting prevention efforts for other teenagers. The results of measuring respondents' knowledge before and after being given education about stunting showed significant results (p-value = <0.0001), with the mean value increasing from 6.67 to 8.58. The peer educator mentoring activities were quite successful, although only two teenagers wanted to join as peer educators.

Abstract

Background: Based on the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Executive Report for the First Quarter (January-March) of 2022, there were 4,841 reported cases of HIV/AIDS infections. It is indicated that 5-10% of unmarried men aged 15-24 years have engaged in risky sexual activities, reinforcing concerns about the increasing risk of sexual behavior among adolescents. The youth members of the Red Cross (PMR) play a critical role in schools as peer educators, peer leaders, and peer supporters. Therefore, a training program was conducted to enhance the knowledge of PMR members about HIV/AIDS. Method: The training was implemented at SMPN 2 Boyolali, involving 104 participants in three stages: situational analysis, implementation, and evaluation. The training material was adapted from the training manual "Palang Merah Remaja: Bangun Generasi Muda Lebih Sehat” utilizing PowerPoint media. To evaluate the differences in participants' knowledge levels, pre-test and post-test measurements were conducted. Results: The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the training. The median pre-test score was 60.00, while the median post-test score was 85.00, indicating a difference of 25 points. A total of 85 participants experienced knowledge improvement. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the training effectively increased participants' understanding of HIV/AIDS, thus achieving the program's objectives.
