Abstract

Geologically, Indonesia is located at the confluence of three large plates: Indo-Australian, Eurasian, and Pacific. It passes through two of the world's main volcanic routes, making it a disaster-prone area. As a result, Indonesia has many active volcanoes, including Mount Merapi. In disaster conditions, students are a vulnerable group, both physically and psychosocially, due to disruption to the learning process and potential trauma. Efforts to increase preparedness through implementing the sister school program, namely cooperation between affected and buffer schools, are urgently needed. However, the implementation of this program in Magelang Regency is still not optimal, especially in its integration into the sister village program, so that vulnerability to disasters during school hours remains high. The solution implemented is to help schools increase their preparedness capacity. The results showed increased participants' understanding of the concepts, benefits and roles of buffer and affected schools in the disaster mitigation framework. Therefore, efforts are still needed to develop affected and buffer schools integrated into disaster-resilient villages.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has vulnerability high disaster. This matter No regardless from condition geographical. Apart from being prone to natural disasters, in Indonesia there are also many non-natural disasters (due to human behavior). Therefore, Human Resources (HR) who manage disasters in Indonesia must always have updated knowledge and skills related to comprehensive disaster mitigation in order to have adequate capacity and competence. The aim of this service is to map the need to increase personal knowledge specifically in the field of disasters and society in general while increasing their understanding regarding disaster mitigation. The method for collecting data for this activity is through discussions in the form of a Disaster and Environmental Management Seminar Based on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The results of this activity showed that 93.8% of participants stated that the characteristics that are generally needed and should be facilitated in higher education include: systematic analysis; risk assessment capabilities; public policy understanding: data analysis skills; inter-sector collaboration; advocacy skills; ability to design policies; understanding of system strengths and weaknesses; social and environmental awareness; and the ability to resolve conflict and tension”.

Abstract

Psycho-social hazards in children at school include violence against children, peer victimization, discrimination, heavy academic pressure and bullying. The impact of psycho-social hazards on children is very serious, such as children becoming low self-esteem, aggressive, depressed, injured, drug abuse, experiencing personality disorders, tending to want to hurt themselves and even wanting to commit suicide. On the other hand, parenting styles, students' socio-economic conditions and the influence of gadgets and social media can make children more exposed to psycho-social hazards, whether at school, in their families or in the environment where they live. Manifestations of existing problems include students committing physical violence at school, mocking friends, and even threatening their school friends, whether the school knows about it or not. The aim of this activity is to increase children's knowledge regarding potential psycho-social hazards at school and know how to prevent them. Implementation methods include: 1) preparation stage, 2) implementation stage and 3) evaluation stage. This activity has received an ethical certificate no. 313/KEPK/FK/KLE/2024 from the Health Research Ethics Commission, Faculty of Medicine, UNNES. The results of this activity obtained an increase in teacher knowledge by 2 points, namely from an average of 83 to 85, while the average student knowledge increased significantly, namely from 53 to 80 (an increase of 27 points). Therefore, learning innovation through various media, including educational game media, is very necessary to accelerate the increase in children's knowledge which can be obtained more enjoyably.
