Abstract

Low Birth Weight is one of the leading causes of under-five deaths during the neonatal period. In Indonesia, the infant mortality rate is in the top 7 in the world. The industrial environment, where air pollution is high, is one of the factors causing LBW. The study aimed to identify the factors that influence the incidence of LBW in an industrial environment. Using data from a cohort of pregnant women in 2023, the study used a nested case-control design at Bergas Community Health Centre. The study population included all mothers who delivered live infants in 2023, totalling 832 respondents. Data from the study were analysed using Chi-Square for bivariate analysis and logistic regression for multivariate analysis. The results showed a relationship between maternal age, parity, maternal nutritional status, hypertension, preeclampsia, and anaemia with the occurrence of LBW with p < 0.0001. The multivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between maternal age (OR 3.233, 95% CI 1.557 – 6.714), parity (OR 2.567, 95% CI 1.382 – 4.767), maternal nutritional status (OR 7.905, 95% CI 3.472 – 17.998), preeclampsia (OR 28.090, 95% CI 9.894 – 84.468), and maternal hemoglobin levels (OR 10.883, 95% CI 5.736 – 20.649) with the incidence of LBW. The most influential factor in LBW is the occurrence of preeclampsia in mothers.

Abstract

The Minimum Initial Service Package Readiness Assessment (MRA) was a comprehensive tool used to evaluate a region’s preparedness in delivering priority reproductive health services during emergencies, as outlined in the MISP. In Indonesia, the MRA had only been implemented in four provinces, including Central Java. This study was the first research conducted in Magelang Regency. It aimed to describe the implementation of the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for reproductive health during the Mount Merapi eruption disaster in Magelang Regency. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving 10 informants from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and evacuation site managers. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document review, with data validity ensured through triangulation of techniques and data sources. The data analysis included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicated that MISP implementation in Magelang Regency during the Mount Merapi eruption disaster remained suboptimal, particularly due to the absence of a dedicated reproductive health sub-cluster. Despite good coordination among government agencies, awareness and understanding of MISP among policymakers remained limited. Village midwives played a crucial role in health service provision at evacuation sites. However, socio-cultural constructs that perceived reproductive health issues during disasters as sensitive posed significant challenges.

Abstract

Hypertension is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease, stroke and premature death. It is a serious public health problem. Reports show that only 54% of adults with hypertension are diagnosed, 42% receive treatment and 21% can control their hypertension. These statistics show how important it is to increase awareness and control of hypertension. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of providing hypertension treatment education on medication adherence and control to health care facilities in Indonesia. This study is a cross-sectional analytical study using secondary data from the Indonesia Health Survey (SKI) 2023. The independent variable is hypertension treatment education, the dependent variable is adherence to taking medication and control to health care facilities. Bivariate data analysis used simple linear regression test. The results of providing hypertension education is effective on the regularity of taking anti-hypertensive drugs with statistical test results obtained p-value 0.002, as well as hypertension education is also effective on routine control to health care facilities with p value 0.000. In addition, the factors of age, education, employment and economic status affect the regularity of taking antihypertensive drugs with p value < 0.05. Hypertension treatment education is effective on the regularity of taking medication and control to health care facilities in Indonesia. The characteristics of age, education, employment and economic status affect the regularity of taking antihypertensive drugs.

Abstract

The achievement of stunting reduction in Indonesia is still below the national target. The low coverage of preventive health efforts in several regions is one of the causes of the high prevalence of stunting in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze the modeling of the coverage of preventive health efforts with the prevalence of stunting in toddlers in Indonesia. A type of analytical descriptive research with a cross-sectional design. The research data is sourced by Indonesian Health Profile, 2023. The collected data was then processed and analyzed using simple and multiple regression statistical tests. There was a linear relationship between coverage of complete basic immunization, monitoring the growth of childs, implementation of GERMAS, and proper sanitation with the prevalence of stunting in toddlers in Indonesia (p-value ≤ 0.05). The coverage of monitoring the growth of childs and proper sanitation was feasible to significantly predict the prevalence of stunting in toddlers in Indonesia (p-value ≤ 0.05) with the regression model equation being stunting = 55.837-0.211*CMGT-0.209*CPSA. The increasing coverage of monitoring the growth of childs and proper sanitation was predicted to further reduce the prevalence of stunting in childs in Indonesia. There is a need to improve the coverage of monitoring the growth of childs and proper sanitation, especially in low-coverage areas through an integrative and comprehensive approach that involves the active participation of the government, communities, and other sectors.

Abstract

Child safety education as an effort to increase safety awareness in schools   Abstract: A school is a place where children spend most of their time learning, playing, and developing, but in reality, children are exposed to many hazards (multi-hazards) when they are at school, so many safety incidents occur at school due to physical, biological and ergonomic hazards. and psycho-social which results in children experiencing minor to serious injuries, contracting diseases, and becoming victims of violence in the school environment, whether reported or not. On the other hand, the lack of optimal implementation of safety culture and minimal knowledge among students regarding the prevention and handling of safety hazards in schools prompted the team to carry out this activity, with the aim of increasing safety awareness in schools in dealing with multi-hazard threats to children through training activities by using the snake and ladder safety educational game tool. The method consists of 3 stages, namely: the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. This activity has received an ethical certificate 314/KEPK/FK/KLE/2024 from the Health Research Ethics Commission, Faculty of Medicine, UNNES. The activity results showed a significant increase in the average student knowledge, namely from 44 to 77 (up 33 points). Therefore, the school's commitment to providing education through innovation in various educational media is very much needed to increase school resilience, especially by increasing school residents' knowledge and awareness regarding safety aspects.
