Abstract

The city of Sumenep is a traditional palace city which is located on the outskirts of the city and also close to the beach. The Palace City has the function of being the residence of kings and their families, and has a role as a place for cultural activities, government activities and the economy. Since 1705, after Sumenep came under the auspices of the VOC, elements of foreign culture began to enter into the formation of the city of Sumenep. The general aim of this research is to describe incidents or events in the past, and then use them for the learning process in the present. The research method used in this research is the historical research method which consists of five stages, first topic selection, second heuristics, third source criticism, fourth interpretation, and fifth historiography. Sumenep is located at the tip of Madura Island and occupies a strategic position that supports Sumenep as a stopping area which is often visited by ships and boats from the archipelago or from abroad. In 1705, when Mataram entered into an agreement, Sumenep as a whole became colonial territory and Sumenep was a busy trade center in the 18th century because it had a port as a stopping area for ships connecting with islands in the eastern region and had an important port for trade over long distances. Thus, the release of the Sumenep area from Mataram's control would certainly go through a long process. One of the influencing factors is the existence of an element of interest in maintaining the power that has mastered this issue.

Abstract

Film mass media was chosen as the most effective medium in conveying messages, because films can be used as learning media through messages that are represented in scenes or story narratives. The lessons that can be taken are in the form of moral messages, or one of them is about the moral messages of scientific ethics contained in Bad Genius. This film discusses the life of students who play with the world of education, with the vulnerabilities that are committed and get an imbalance in the form of money used to meet their needs. The type of research used is qualitative with descriptive research nature. This study uses the semiotic analysis method of Roland Barthes, in this analysis there are three core things that are the focus, namely denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings which are used as a guide to see the depiction of scientific moral messages depicted in each film scene. The data obtained in this study were sourced from the We TV application which broadcasts the Bad Genius film and was combined with books discussing films and scientific moral messages. The results of the study show that the representation of scientific moral messages shown in the Bad Genius film is how science should be used. Such as the obligation to (1) maintain an attitude in making ethical decisions related to etiquette, (2) maintain attitudes in related ethical decisions, and (3) maintain attitudes related to ethical decisions related to law. In this film, I want to highlight the side of how a student who is categorized as a genius must maintain their ethics by combining the values of education in Thailand and the values of education globally which can be used as lessons for the audience of the film Bad Genius. In addition, this film not only has a moral message of scientific ethics, but there are other moral messages related to everyday life.

Abstract

The lack of teachers' ability to apply the Pancasila character can contribute to the fading of Pancasila culture abroad, especially for the families of Indonesian Immigrant Workers in Malaysia. This research aims to explore the understanding of the character of Pancasila among parents in the Indonesian-Malaysian literacy context. A quantitative research approach was used with a sample of 80 educators from the Kuala Lumpur Indonesian School and learning centers in Malaysia. The research instrument consists of a questionnaire with 15 items for the Teacher Empowerment Program variable and 14 items for Teacher Knowledge. Data analysis uses simple linear regression with validity, reliability, normality, heteroscedasticity, t test, and coefficient tests, which are processed using SPSS software. The research results found that the training program had a positive effect on teachers' knowledge about the character of Pancasila. The Teacher Empowerment Based Course Program has had a significant impact on teachers' understanding of the Indonesian-Malaysian Literacy Based Pancasila Character. After attending a course based on teacher empowerment, there was a significant increase in teachers' knowledge about the character of Pancasila based on Indonesian-Malaysian language literacy. This teacher empowerment-based course program provides educators with the opportunity to gain knowledge about Indonesian-Malaysian literacy. They can apply this knowledge through innovative and effective teaching methods. Future research could investigate further potential benefits beyond increasing teachers' knowledge after participating in this program.

Abstract

History learning has an ongoing problem because of the assumption that history is just memorizing an event, so that learning is less meaningful. In fact, learning history provides new understanding and knowledge so that students are able to criticize things wisely. The phenomenon in the field is found that students are given learning to know other regions but do not study their own regions. From this problem, the researcher saw that there was potential from the PT Bukit Asam Coal Museum in Tanjung Enim to be an interesting object as a meaningful history learning resource for students. The purpose of this study examines how the potential of the PT Bukit Asam Coal Museum in Tanjung Enim as an appropriate and effective history learning resource. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive analysis techniques with literature review. The results of the research based on literature review and interviews conducted, researchers saw quite a lot of schools and public visitors who made field trips to the museum, meaning that this field trip-based history learning strategy is quite potential and effective to be applied to students. The field trip strategy helps students form a certain picture of the object being studied. Learning outside the classroom is one of the most effective learning strategies that gives students the freedom to develop and explore what they learn directly. Through field trip activities, students seem to be entertained because they can see and learn directly through the museum.

Abstract

This article examines the pepper trade carried out by the Sunda Kingdom in the 16th century. The topic of pepper trade was chosen because pepper was one of the main commodities that played an important role in the economy and international relations of the Sunda Kingdom. The main aim of this research is to examine the role of pepper as the main commodity of the Sunda Kingdom on the social and economic relations of the Sunda Kingdom. The research method used is historical research which consists of five stages, namely topic selection, heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. This research is intended to examine (1) the Sunda Kingdom and the pepper trade, (2) the arrival of the Portuguese in Malacca, (3) Javanese geopolitics in the 16th century, (4) the 16th century pepper trade. The Sunda Kingdom had an agricultural and maritime character, with a focus on agriculture inland and trade in coastal areas. This kingdom planted pepper in the interior, which was then distributed to the big cities owned by the Sunda Kingdom for trade. The research results indicate that the pepper produced by the Sunda Kingdom is of high quality. This attracted the attention of the Portuguese to establish diplomatic relations. However, these efforts were thwarted by strong resistance from local kingdoms, especially Demak. The strategic position of the Sunda Kingdom in the maritime trade network is reflected in its extensive economic interactions, including trade relations with China, Malacca, and others. The diversity of networks and intensity of trade emphasize the influence of pepper in determining the political and economic situation of that time.

Abstract

Malang City is one of the cities in the interior of Java which is often called Klein Switzerland or like a small version of Switzerland with its beautiful scenery and cool air. These conditions made Malang ideal as a target for implementing policies, one of which was the 1870 Agrarian Law and the construction of the railroad in 1876, which then increasingly developed into a city. Community mobilization was inevitable as was the arrival of the Dutch and the migration of the local population itself. The interaction that takes place presents a blend of indies lifestyle in all lines of life, one of which is the architectural field of church construction. This research aims to find out the arrival of Catholicism in Malang and its influence on the development of the local community with a focus on the Ijen Church and Kayutangan. The method used uses historical research methods consisting of heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that Catholic missionaries played an important role in the spread of Catholicism in Malang as evidenced by the establishment of the Kayutangan Sacred Heart of Jesus Church building and the Ijen Cathedral Church which still exists and has even become an iconic landmark of Malang City.
