Abstract

Social learning refers to the process of observation through which individuals acquire and refine behaviors. It plays a crucial role in helping individuals differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate actions. Documentary videos can enhance this learning process by providing observational opportunities through the figures depicted in the videos. This article reviews studies on the advantages and challenges of using documentary videos in social learning. A systematic literature review method was employed, incorporating 23 studies—18 focusing on the benefits and 5 addressing the challenges of documentary videos. The studies were collected from Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Wiley, and SAGE Journals. The findings indicate that documentary videos contribute to performance improvement and behavioral development. However, a major challenge lies in the lack of standardized guidelines for documentary video production. Future research should explore strategies to address these challenges and optimize the effectiveness of documentary videos in social learning.

Abstract

Teachers must possess and apply a new set of skills and competencies in the 21st century that are emphasised by the transformative demands of modern education. This aims to prepare students for the various challenges of life in the future. Teacher competence in Indonesia is recognised as a key driver for improving the quality of education however, there are challenges in ensuring that all teachers have the necessary competencies. This is also required by history teachers, where history is indispensable for students as a foundation for acting in the present and future. To achieve this, teachers need to have competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, digital literacy, and the use of technology. This study aims to improve the competence of Mojokerto City and District History MGMP teachers in the field of local history material and making infographic learning media. This research had four stages: problem identification, solution formulation/planning, socialisation, and evaluation. The findings of this study indicate an increase in competence after the implementation of service activities. The data showed a striking increase in the pre-test and post-test results, specifically by 9.49. This finding shows that the teachers can effectively understand local history and develop digital-based learning resources. This improvement suggests that the skills and expertise of educators can be effectively enhanced through socialisation. This article concludes that a collaborative digital learning environment has a positive impact on teachers' professional development. In addition, the results show that ongoing collaboration and support among educators can result in continuous growth in terms of knowledge and skills. This highlights the importance of creating opportunities for teachers to engage in collaborative learning experiences.

The teachings of Ageman Adam or Religions of Adam, the concepts of millenarianism, messianism were used to oppose the policy of tax payment and land tenure through the sikep resistance movement the Dutch East Indies Government in Central Java and East Java. This research is a historical research using historical research methodology so that this research aims to reveal historical facts from the perspective of the Dutch East Indies and saminism by using primary historical and newspapers as well as historical records of teaching saminism figures and using the approach of resistance theory and social resistance movement theory. The result of this research is, that Samin Surosentiko is a lineage of Javanese aristocrats who are considered to have charisma, magic, or sekti. Therefore, he is believed to be a messiah or Ratu Adil figure who is believed to bring salvation, revive the glory days of the indigenous people in the past, and can bring freedom from European colonialism. There is a fact that Saminism followers do not always carry out sikep resistance that prioritise the teachings and values preached by Samin Soerosentiko. Abstract

Purpose of the study: The development of a culturally responsive teaching model, commonly called the Aligned Learning Model, is based on the idea that students' cultural backgrounds are significant in their learning process. Multicultural awareness in history education is an important aspect of education that aims to foster understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity. Integrating multicultural values into history education is essential for raising students' awareness of cultural pluralism and fostering tolerance and social cohesion attitudes. Methodology: In this study, we used a qualitative approach, distributing questionnaires to history teachers to collect data. We analysed the data in three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Main Findings: The result of this study is a new learning model called Harmonis. The syntax of this model consists of five stages: learning instruction, concrete experience, reflection, communication, and evaluation. Based on the study's results, previous studies and findings in the field indicate that no specific model elaborates on local history and multicultural education in schools. This prompted the researchers to present an innovation, namely the Harmonis learning model. The Harmonis model can be applied in local history-based learning processes by exploring the surrounding environment and identifying multicultural values that can be taught to students. Novelty/Originality of this study: The Harmonis model bridges the needs of prospective professional teachers who want to teach multiculturalism contextually. The existence of this model is an innovation because several previous learning models have not been able to integrate local history and multiculturalism in a meaningful way.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the historical study of Tuan Ma as a reliquary in Larantuka from an ethnohistorical perspective. This study attempts to explain in detail the historicity of Tuan Ma from an ethnohistoric perspective, including Portuguese domination and power in Larantuka; Tuan Ma's role as a relic of the continuity of traditional beliefs and Catholicism in Larantuka; and the sacredness of Tuan Ma for the people of Larantuka. By using the ethnohistorical approach as a research method, it is expected to answer this research in the perspective of culture and history in Larantuka. This research shows that Tuan Ma is not just a religious symbol, but also a cultural heritage that represents a dialogue and synthesis between local traditions and global influences. The sacredness of Tuan Ma continues to live as an integral part of the identity of the Larantuka community, reflecting the sustainability and transformation of tradition in the face of changing times. This research is expected to be a stimulus for other studies on religious symbols and local traditions that can survive and thrive in the context of globalization and modernity.

At the end of the activity, participants were also given guidance on writing articles related to local history and integrating them into the independent curriculum. The findings of this study indicate that after attending the workshop, the participants, who were history teachers, experienced an increase in their understanding of local history. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes to history learning and offers practical insights for improving the quality of history teachers.
