Abstract

Purpose of the study: The development of a culturally responsive teaching model, commonly called the Aligned Learning Model, is based on the idea that students' cultural backgrounds are significant in their learning process. Multicultural awareness in history education is an important aspect of education that aims to foster understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity. Integrating multicultural values into history education is essential for raising students' awareness of cultural pluralism and fostering tolerance and social cohesion attitudes. Methodology: In this study, we used a qualitative approach, distributing questionnaires to history teachers to collect data. We analysed the data in three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Main Findings: The result of this study is a new learning model called Harmonis. The syntax of this model consists of five stages: learning instruction, concrete experience, reflection, communication, and evaluation. Based on the study's results, previous studies and findings in the field indicate that no specific model elaborates on local history and multicultural education in schools. This prompted the researchers to present an innovation, namely the Harmonis learning model. The Harmonis model can be applied in local history-based learning processes by exploring the surrounding environment and identifying multicultural values that can be taught to students. Novelty/Originality of this study: The Harmonis model bridges the needs of prospective professional teachers who want to teach multiculturalism contextually. The existence of this model is an innovation because several previous learning models have not been able to integrate local history and multiculturalism in a meaningful way.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the historical study of Tuan Ma as a reliquary in Larantuka from an ethnohistorical perspective. This study attempts to explain in detail the historicity of Tuan Ma from an ethnohistoric perspective, including Portuguese domination and power in Larantuka; Tuan Ma's role as a relic of the continuity of traditional beliefs and Catholicism in Larantuka; and the sacredness of Tuan Ma for the people of Larantuka. By using the ethnohistorical approach as a research method, it is expected to answer this research in the perspective of culture and history in Larantuka. This research shows that Tuan Ma is not just a religious symbol, but also a cultural heritage that represents a dialogue and synthesis between local traditions and global influences. The sacredness of Tuan Ma continues to live as an integral part of the identity of the Larantuka community, reflecting the sustainability and transformation of tradition in the face of changing times. This research is expected to be a stimulus for other studies on religious symbols and local traditions that can survive and thrive in the context of globalization and modernity.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to strengthen teachers' ability to teach local history in schools by conducting workshops targeting history teachers in Pasuruan City and Regency. This activity is based on the results of a previous problem analysis, which shows that teachers still have difficulty obtaining local historical sources. Methodology: This study used a quantitative experimental method by treating teachers and observing the results through statistical data analysis. Main Findings: This study shows increased teachers' abilities after the workshop. This increase is proven by a t-test, which shows a difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of 6.57. At the end of the activity, participants were also given guidance on writing articles related to local history and integrating them into the independent curriculum. The findings of this study indicate that after attending the workshop, the participants, who were history teachers, experienced an increase in their understanding of local history. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes to history learning and offers practical insights for improving the quality of history teachers.

Abstract

Parameswara, seorang pangeran dari Palembang, memainkan peran kunci dalam pendirian Kesultanan Malaka. Di bawah kepemimpinannya, Malaka berkembang menjadi pusat perdagangan dan kebudayaan yang penting di Asia Tenggara. Artikel ini mengeksplorasi perjalanan hidup Parameswara, dari pengusirannya dari Palembang dan Tumasik (Singapura) ke Malaka. Keberadaan berbagai kronik dan arsip Melayu, Cina, dan Portugis memungkinkan kajian ini dilakukan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan sejarah, kajian ini menganalisis kondisi sosial dan politik dibalik migrasi Parameswara dari Palembang. Parameswara juga menerapkan berbagai strategi untuk membangun dan memperkokoh kekuasaannya di Malaka, termasuk aliansi politik dan ekonomi. Parameswara berhasil bergabung dengan jaringan perdagangan Ming serta membangun Malaka menjadi pusat perdagangan rempah-rempah di Asia Tenggara. Parameswara cenderung menggunakan pengelolaan Kerajaan maritim khas Sriwijaya untuk mengembangkan Palembang, Tumasik, dan Malaka. Kepemimpinan Parameswara telah mengubah lanskap politik dan ekonomi regional. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai peran Parameswara dalam sejarah Asia Tenggara dan warisannya yang masih terasa hingga saat ini.

Abstract

This article explores humanist values in Thomas Stamford Raffles' work, The Statement of Service, which acts as his defense against the accusations during his time in the Indonesian Archipelago. It uses a descriptive qualitative method with in-depth text analysis. The findings show that Raffles promoted humanist principles in his colonial policies, such as abolishing slavery, respecting local culture, and improving education. These policies reflect the influence of secular humanism, which Raffles embraced through his affiliation with the Freemason organization. However, the study also highlights contradictions between Raffles' humanist ideals and the colonial practices of his era. The research suggests further study on the relevance of Raffles' ideas to colonialism and modern humanism.

Abstract

Kawasan heritage memiliki keunikan dan karakter yang dapat membentuk identitas kota. Bagian dari ruang publik yang bernilai sejarah ini, perlu dilestarikan keberadaannya. Pembangunan perkotaan harus memperhitungkan keberadaan kawasan heritage, supaya tidak merusak dan mengurangi nilai sejarah dan budayanya. Pembangunan urban tourism, dapat menjadi strategi untuk menyinergikan kawasan heritage ke dalam arah pembangunan perkotaan. Peluang ekonomi baru dapat tercipta melalui aktivitas wisata yang berpusat di kawasan heritage. Namun, resiko seperti komodifikasi, perubahan nilai dan identitas kawasan heritage perlu diperhitungkan dalam pembangunan urban tourism. Penelitian ini mengkaji dinamika peluang dan tantangan konservasi kawasan heritage melalui urban tourism. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara kepada Komunitas Historia Van Madioen sebagai komunitas pecinta sejarah Kota Madiun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peluang dari sisi dukungan kebijakan dan keberadaan komunitas masyarakat yang mendukung konservasi kawasan heritage. Namun, tantangan berupa potensi komersialisasi kawasan heritage yang berlebih dapat merusak prinsip konservasi. Keberhasilan konservasi kawasan heritage di berbagai kota di dunia dapat menjadi contoh bagaimana pengelolaan yang bijaksana dapat menjaga sekaligus memanfaatkan kawasan heritage.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research aims to study the Majapahit Excursion as a field school model for history students to enhance academic competence and practical skills through the exploration of historical remains in Mojokerto, while also fostering imagination, learning motivation, and integration of local-national history. Methodology: This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of field study. The subjects of the study include students from Mojokerto. The research instruments consist of observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and documentation, while data collection techniques are conducted through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Main Findings: Research findings indicate that the Majapahit Excursion program is capable of enhancing students' understanding of the archaeological remains of Majapahit, developing skills in toponymy analysis and local historical interpretation, strengthening collaborative abilities in the field, as well as introducing the local wisdom of the Majapahit Kingdom and its relevance in modern life. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this research lies in the formulation of a field school model based on the Majapahit heritage in Mojokerto, which not only focuses on strengthening historical theory but also on integrating students' empirical experiences with local history learning. This model can serve as a strategic alternative in the development of site-based history curriculum in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Introducing and ptimalizing the results of cross-cultural studies and toponymic approaches in history education as an effort to improve the competence of history teachers. Specifically, to connect local historical sites in classroom learning, and to respond the requirements of the Merdeka Curriculum in providing essential, relevant, and in-depth learning materials. Methodology: This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with elements of development research. The implementation of the service is based on specific stages, namely 1) observation and preliminary studies, 2) recommendations for activities, 3) curriculum design and special tools, 4) course implementation, 5) evaluation of activities, and 6) plans for sustainable activities. Main Findings: The result of this community service activity is the improvement of teachers' abilities to utilize local potential, especially in the use of local historical sites through a toponymic approach and cross-cultural Nusantara. Novelty/Originality of this study: The integration of cross-cultural and toponymy approaches is an interesting and rare offering in teacher professional development. This is especially in the utilization of local historical sites as medium for contextual learning media in response to the challenges of a curriculum based on local history.

Abstract

Akses terhadap air bersih dan layak minum merupakan kebutuhan mendasar yang belumsepenuhnya terpenuhi di berbagai daerah di Indonesia. KHDTK Pantai Gurah di KabupatenBlitar, sebuah kawasan yang strategis dalam mendukung konservasi dan pendidikanlingkungan, menghadapi tantangan signifikan dalam pengolahan air payau menjadi air siapminum. Air payau di wilayah ini mengandung kadar garam, logam berat, dan partikellainnya yang melebihi baku mutu, sehingga tidak layak konsumsi tanpa pengolahanlanjutan. Selain itu, kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat setempat tentang teknologipengolahan air dan pengelolaan hasil produksi juga memperburuk situasi. Permasalahanlain yang dihadapi mitra adalah kurangnya keterampilan dalam manajemen pengemasanproduk air minum. Meskipun pengolahan air payau menjadi air siap minum dapatdilakukan, tanpa kemampuan pengemasan yang baik, produk tersebut sulit dipasarkan ataudimanfaatkan secara optimal. Hal ini mengurangi potensi manfaat ekonomi daripengolahan air bagi masyarakat setempat. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalahPenerapan Teknologi Pengolahan Air Payau: Implementasi teknologi nanofiltrasi danreverse osmosis (NF-RO) menjadi prioritas utama untuk memastikan kualitas air yangdihasilkan sesuai dengan standar baku mutu air bersih dan air minum. Langkah ini akandilakukan melalui instalasi sistem pengolahan air yang dilengkapi dengan pretreatmentseperti koagulasi-flokulasi dan sedimentasi, Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan iniadalah ditempuh dengan cara reverse engineering. Hasil dari kegiatan ini berupa Penerapansistem NF-RO di KHDTK Pantai Gurah terbukti efektif dalam menyelesaikan persoalankualitas air payau dan sekaligus memberdayakan masyarakat melalui pelatihan berbasisteknologi tepat guna. Sinergi antara pendekatan teknis dan edukatif menghasilkantransformasi nyata dalam penyediaan air bersih dan peningkatan potensi ekonomi lokal.Kata Kunci: Pengolahan Air Payau, Teknologi nf-ro, Khdtk Gurah, PelatihanMasyarakat Lokal, Konservasi Sumber Daya Air

Abstract

Publikasi ilmiah merupakan indikator penting dalam pengembangan profesionalisme guru dan calonguru di era digital. Namun, rendahnya kompetensi penulisan dan minimnya pemanfaatan teknologipendukung menjadi kendala utama dalam optimalisasi publikasi, khususnya di jurnal terakreditasinasional seperti SINTA. Berdasarkan hasil survei yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian kepadamasyarakat terhadap guru dan mahasiswa Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) di SMK PGRI 3 Malang,ditemukan bahwa 78% responden belum pernah mempublikasikan karya ilmiah mereka, meskipunsebagian besar telah menghasilkan laporan penelitian tindakan kelas atau tugas akhir. Hal inimenunjukkan adanya gap signifikan antara kemampuan menulis dengan tuntutan publikasiakademik. Sebagai respons atas kondisi tersebut tim pengabdian masyarakat melalui dana hibahPPG UM akan melaksanakan kegiatan pelatihan penulisan ilmiah berbantuan EVA, guru danmahasiswa PPG yang diarahkan untuk menghasilkan tulisan ilmiah berkualitas serta memilikipemahaman menyeluruh tentang proses publikasi ilmiah. Metode pelaksanaan program pengabdianini dirancang secara sistematis melalui pendekatan partisipatif, kolaboratif, dan berbasis praktiklangsung (learning by doing). Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah peningkatan dalam hal pemahamanstruktur artikel ilmiah, keterampilan teknis dalam penulisan, serta kesiapan artikel untuk dikirim kejurnal. Sebanyak 8 artikel dinyatakan layak submit dan lebih dari 85% peserta mampumengoperasikan EVA secara mandiri.
