Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity, readability, student response, and improvement of students' science literacy towards digital Pocket book. Subject matter used is the classification of living things. This study is a type of R&D research with the ADDIE development model. The subjects of this study were 26 students of class VII-G of SMPN 5 Pamekasan. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that: (1) The digital Pocket book based on ethnoscience of Madura Sonok Cattle obtained a validity percentage value from material experts and media experts of 89.06% and 93.06% with very valid criteria. (2) The readability aspect based on the student questionnaire obtained an average score of 90.82% with a very good category (3) The response aspect based on the student questionnaire obtained an average score of 92.26% with a very good category (4) The increase in student science literacy based on the N-gain score was 0.62 with moderate criteria, so that the digital Pocket book based on the ethnoscience of Madura Sonok Cattle can improve students' science literacy. The conclusion of the study shows that the digital Pocket book based on the ethnoscience of Madura Sonok Cattle produced is very valid for use as a science teaching material and can improve students' science literacy.

Abstract

This article aims to determine the level of multirepresentation ability of SMPN 3 Sugio students in Daliwangun village, Sugio Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency on vibration, wave, and sound materials. This research used quantitative method with quantitative descriptive research design. The subjects of this study were students of class IX A and IX B. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. The research sample was 61 students. Data collection was done by giving multirepresentation ability test questions. Based on the results, it can be concluded that: 1) the level of multirepresentation ability of students on vibration, wave and sound material in the high category 76.6%, medium category 74% and low category 13%. 2) the difference in each type of multirepresentation ability obtained 15% percentage of verbal representation, 10% percentage of symbolic representation, and 20% percentage of image representation. Based on the results of data analysis, the multirepresentation ability of SMPN 3 Sugio students has an average of 46% in the medium category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi konsep IPA pada kearifan lokal Ekowisata Mangrove Lembung. Potensi lokal dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam pembelajaran IPA melalui proses eksplorasi konsep IPA yang terdapat di dalamnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan kajian literatur. Teknik wawancara dan observasi dilakukan untuk menggali pengetahuan asli masyarakat. Kajian literatur dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi konsep IPA yang terdapat pada Ekowisata MangroveLembung. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu Ekowisata Mangrove Lembung yang memiliki potensi dalam pembelajaran yaitu adanya konsep IPA di dalamnya. Hasil eksplorasi konsep IPA menunjukkan adanya hubungan Ekowisata Mangrove Lembung dengan materi IPA khususnya materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup, ekologi dankeanekaragaman hayati Indonesia, zat dan perubahannya, besaran dan pengukuran, suhu, kalor dan pemuaian, serta getaran, gelombang, dan cahaya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu hasil eksplorasi konsep IPA pada Ekowisata Mangrove Lembung dapat diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran

Abstract

This study aims to describe the science literacy profile of students at SMPN 1 Tanjung Bumi. The research employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, allowing the collected data to be processed statistically to objectively illustrate the students' level of science literacy. The subjects of this study consisted of 35 students from class VIII A who were given six science literacy test items with a duration of one lesson hour. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the categories of science literacy proficiency. The results show that most students have a level of science literacy that needs improvement, with 51% categorized as very low, 46% as low, and only 3% as adequate, while none of the students fell into the good or very good categories. Factors contributing to the low science literacy include misconceptions of scientific concepts, poor reading ability, lack of interest in science, and unfamiliarity with long-text and contextual problem types. Based on these findings, strategies are needed to enhance science literacy through the development of innovative learning materials, improvement of reading interest, and habituation to analytical and context-based problem-solving tasks. These findings indicate the need for learning interventions grounded in local context to improve students' science literacy skills. Keywords: scientific literacy, students, junior high school
