Abstract

The abundance of cow bone waste in West Nusa Tenggara has not been in line with proper treatment. Cow bones contain a lot of apatites that can be modified into raw materials for the fabrication of hydroxyapatite. The need for hydroxyapatite as bone graft biomaterials increase in Indonesia continuously. The study aims to identify the appropriate preparation method for extracting hydroxyapatite from cow bone. Mechanical and thermal techniques are used to extract the cow bone. The method utilizes heat energy and mechanical energy to achieve hydroxyapatite. The extracted powder from cow bone was identified the ratio of Ca/P using EDX, calculated the yield of the fabricated product, measured its bulk density, and placed its functional group by FTIR. The results reveal that the best preparation method to acquire hydroxyapatite is by extracting the compact bone of bovine. The compact bone is macerated with alcohol for 12 hours and calcined at a temperature of 9500C for three hours. The apatite has a Ca/P ratio of 2.25, yielding 66.53%, and a bulk density of 1.18 g/cm3. Typical hydroxyapatite groups that emerge from apatite powder are the presence of functional groups OH, PO43-, and CO32-. This preparation method also has powders with unidentified C-H functional groups. The fact of this variety indicates the powder does not contain organic elements that can be at risk of rejection by the human body. Therefore, the apatite extracted from cow bone can be used as a safe biomaterial for the human body.

Abstract

Kitosan merupakan biopolimer turunan dari hasil deasetilasi kitin, yang berkembang pesat di dunia medis saat ini. Kitosan salah satu material yang memiliki sifat anti mikroba, biokompatibel, dan biodegradable sehingga aman bagi tubuh manusia. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh daya gelombang mikro terhadap karakteristik kitosan. Pembuatan kitosan dengan mengisolasi kitosan dari cangkang kerang Mutiara (Pinctada maxima sp) melalui proses deproteinasi, demineralisasi, dan deasetilasi. Kitosan di analisis gugus fungsi, derajat deasetilasi, rendemen, berat molekul, dan struktur kristalnya. Pada tahapan deasetilasi mengunakan NaOH 60%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian gelombang mikro dengan daya high selama 5 menit memperoleh nilai derajat deasetilasi tertinggi 83,40%, rendemen akhir sebesar 8,2%, dan berat molekul 222.185,94 Da, serta memiliki derajat kristalinitas sebesar 59,09%. Derajat deasetilasi kitosan meningkat seiring dengan naiknya daya gelombang mikro sedangkan berat molekul yang dihasilkan berbanding terbalik dengan derajat deasetilasi.

Abstract

Lombok has become one of the leading tourist destinations, especially with the development of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone. One of the cultural products that has the potential to be offered to tourists is Lombok traditional weaving. The study aims to analyze the effect of the pH of the dye solution on the characteristics of the dyed fabric. The research method uses a mechanical thermal method to obtain anthocyanin powder extraction, standard staining methods namely mordan, staining, and fixation, as well as characterization using tensilons, Color Analyzer software, Hooloovoo, and Encycolorpedi website. The extraction of anthocyanin compounds from teak leaves (Tectona grandis) was successfully carried out by mechanical thermal method. Color analysis and identified color changes are significantly affected by differences in solution pH. The higher the pH used, the darker the color will be produced and the higher the level of color fading in the fabric. The smallest  E value is at pH 6 =5.364 and the largest  E value is at pH 14 = 17.145. However, an increase in pH tends to increase the tensile strength of the fabric. However, the optimum tensile strength condition was obtained in a solution of pH 12, which was 17.414 MPa, while at pH 13 and pH 14, the tensile strength of the fabric decreased to 16.071 MPa. Based on the analysis of the influence of pH of dye solution on fabric tensile strength, it was identified that a 6th-order polynomial model (determination coefficient R2 = 0.9479) was identified as accurate enough to model the influence of pH on fabric tensile strength. Therefore, this finding has potential in the textile industry, especially in increasing the economic value of Lombok weaving.

Abstract

Kain tenun dari desa Sade merupakan salah satu produk tenun yang masih memegang teguh warisan leluhur dalam proses pembuatannya. Mulai dari proses pemintalan benang, sizing benang, hingga proses pewarnaan benang masih memanfaatkan metode tradisional dan bahan alami. Penggunaan serbuk pewarna alami sebagai pewarna kain katun dapat meningkatkan kualitas benang. Salah satu caranya melalui modifikasi ukuran partikel serbuk pigmen warna. Sehingga perlu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh penambahan filler maltodiekstrin terhadap karakteristik serbuk senyawa antosianin. Adapun tujuan lain yaitu untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh penambahan filler maltodiekstrin terhadap karakteristik warna kain. Pembuatan senyawa antosianin menggunakan metode maserasi dan evaporasi. Dimana karakteristik serbuk yang diperoleh diukur kadar air nya dengan pengujian proximate. Sedangkan pengukuran indeks polidispersitas dan ukuran partikel menggunakan particle size analizer  (PSA). Untuk karakteristik warna menggunakan software berbasis android  yaitu analisis nama warna dengan colorpedia, nilai ∆E dan RGB dengan color tool dan  color grab. Hasil identifikasi karakteristik serbuk menunjukkan bahwa penambahan filler mempengaruhi kadar air, ukuran, dan indeks polidispersitas serbuk senyawa antosianin. Serbuk dengan penambahan filler 15% menghasilkan kadar air terendah 10,39 %, ukuran terkecil 521,9 nm, dan indeks polidispersi terkecil 0,429. Selain itu, karakteristik warna yang dihasilkan dari penambahan filler memiliki warna dasar yang tidak jauh berbeda yaitu merah kecokelatan. Namun, hal yang berbeda adalah tingkat kelunturannya. Dari nilai ∆E, penambahan filler 15% menghasilkan kelunturan yang paling rendah. Sehingga, serbuk senyawa antosianin hasil ekstraksi dapat diaplikasikan sebagai pewarna pada kain katun. penambahan filler maltodiekstrin 15% direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif pembuatan serbuk pewarna yang diaplikasin pada kain katun.

Abstract

Global energy requirements encourage innovations in developing environmentally friendly alternative energy sources by transforming biomass waste into biopellets. The use of biopellets as fuel was followed by the development of biomass stoves for households. Developing biomass stove technology design is essential, so this research aims to design a biomass stove with good performance for use as a household stove. Stove performance was identified by reviewing the biomass stove's fuel consumption and thermal efficiency relative to the number of combustion holes. The biomass stove fabrication results had been successfully created based on a stove design using galvanized plate material. The design focused on three layers of tubes, including the stove frame, the air supply control, and the combustion tube. The number of holes in the combustion tube affected fuel consumption and the thermal effectiveness of the stove. The lowest fuel consumption on a furnace with six combustion holes was 2,306 kg/hour. Meanwhile, the optimal thermal efficiency for burning 18 holes was 16.17%. However, this thermal efficiency value needs to meet the SNI 7926: 2013 standard. The location and number of combustion holes in the combustion tube could influence the performance of the biomass stove. Therefore, it is important to modify biomass stoves to fulfill SNI standards.
