Abstract

21st-century education requires students not only to master basic knowledge but also to develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills—competencies that can be fostered through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model within the framework of deep learning. This study aims to explore how the implementation of PjBL can enhance students' creativity through five key indicators: fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, and emotional engagement with enthusiasm. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this case study was conducted with eighth-grade students at a public junior high school in Cirebon Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and analysis of student project documents, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings show that PjBL creates an open and contextual learning environment, encouraging students to actively explore ideas, think from multiple perspectives, and generate original, meaningful solutions. PjBL also fosters high learning enthusiasm and strengthens students’ emotional involvement in the learning process. The study implies that integrating PjBL into deep learning approaches holds great potential for cultivating a collaborative, reflective, and creative learning culture. These findings highlight the crucial role of teachers as facilitators and designers of learning experiences that stimulate students’ creativity in authentic and meaningful contexts. Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of academic supervision practices at SMP Darul Hikam using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) model. The urgency of this evaluation lies in the need to ensure that academic supervision evolves from a procedural obligation into a strategic mechanism for improving teacher professionalism and educational quality. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and non-participatory observation. The research instruments were developed thematically based on the CIPP dimensions and validated through triangulation, member checking, and audit trail to ensure trustworthiness. The data were analyzed using thematic descriptive techniques aligned with the four CIPP components, with success criteria referring to national education standards, relevant policy frameworks, stakeholder satisfaction, and alignment with Taqwa Character Building (TCB) values. The results show that supervision at Darul Hikam is conducted systematically, supported by digital platforms (SISFO and Balanced Scorecard), and integrated into the school’s reflective and value-based culture. This approach has enhanced teacher competencies, fostered a culture of quality that is sustainable, and positively impacted student learning outcomes. The study concludes that academic supervision, when implemented through contextual leadership and technological integration, can serve as a transformative tool for professional development and institutional excellence.

Abstract

Instructional planning is widely recognised as essential for effective teaching, yet prospective teachers often lack the knowledge, experience, and resources to design context-responsive lessons. Research on lesson planning has predominantly focused on in-service teachers, leaving limited insight into the multidimensional barriers teacher candidates face in Indonesian EFL contexts, particularly within private universities. This qualitative case study addresses this gap by examining two guiding questions: (1) What factors hinder prospective teachers in designing instructional plans? Moreover, (2) What solutions can effectively address these barriers? Three purposively selected eighth-semester students from the English Language Education Study Program at a private university in Indonesia were studied based on scaffolding principles. Data were triangulated through open-ended questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and then analysed thematically with member checking to ensure trustworthiness. Findings highlight three interconnected challenges: limited mastery of pedagogical vocabulary and authentic material development, misalignment between methods and materials, and a persistent gap between theoretical coursework and practical classroom dynamics. Proposed solutions include intensive tiered mentoring by lecturers and supervising teachers, integration of authentic locally relevant materials, and real-case-based lesson design workshops. These findings contribute to teacher education research by offering evidence-based recommendations for curriculum reform and practicum design that strengthen prospective teachers’ competence in creating meaningful and contextually grounded lesson plans.

Abstract

Low empathy in students is a major factor significantly driving the emergence and continuation of bullying behavior in the school environment. This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of the empathy chess educational game (catur empati – Cempa ) in increasing empathy of elementary school students, analyzing the impact of Cempa on reducing physical and verbal bullying in the elementary school environment. This research employed a mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. The data collection techniques included pretests-posttests, interviews, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique in this study used the N-Gain test from the pretest-posttest results and triangulation from the results of interviews and questionnaires. The results in this study show the effectiveness of the Cempa in increasing student empathy through pretest and posttest. The average N-Gain value on empathy knowledge and empathy attitudes is classified as a moderate category. Meanwhile, the average N-Gain value in the aspect of empathy action is classified as a low category. The impact of the educative game Cempa on physical and verbal bullying is also seen to have decreased bullying behavior. This is due to the level of empathy, knowledge, and attitudes of students who have increased after playing Cempa. So, it is proven that the Cempa can increase empathy to reduce bullying behavior
