Abstract

This research aimed to reveal how to detect school management ailments so that efforts to improve or prevent them can be known. It was conducted in two stages: model development and model testing. Model development was carried out through literature reviews, focus group discussions (FGDs) with experts in Education Administration and Management, and field data collection through closed questionnaires. The model testing stage involved testing indicators and FGDs with practitioners and associations of school principals and supervisors to validate the school management health indicators. The research was conducted in 36 middle schools (both public and private) in Cimahi City, West Java Province, with respondents including school principals, teacher representatives, school committee chairs, administrative staff representatives, and student representatives. The research results can predict an increase or decrease in school quality through the health of the six school management functions by 73.5%, with the remaining 26.5% determined by other factors.

Abstract

This research employs a bibliometric approach to analyze research trends in quality and character education, utilizing data from 161 articles sourced from the SCOPUS database. The analysis reveals central themes, such as character education, ethical development, and curriculum integration, highlighting significant contributions from prominent authors and global collaborations. Despite extensive research, gaps were identified in practical implementation strategies and the exploration of character education's role in addressing societal issues like corruption. The findings underscore the need for future research to develop effective, culturally responsive strategies and to explore digital and interdisciplinary approaches. By addressing these gaps, this study aims to enhance the understanding and integration of quality and character education, contributing to improved educational outcomes and holistic student development.

Abstract

This research explored the necessity of a systematic approach to fostering a sustainable literacy culture in elementary schools. It developed a Quality Management System (QMS) to cultivate school literacy culture and enhance sustainable literacy quality. This research and development (R&D) used the PDCA model to develop an elementary school literacy program quality management system model. During the analysis stage, the researchers surveyed to assess and gauge the effectiveness of the previous program’s implementation. The design phase involved a literature review and analysis of survey results, referring to literature, and consulting experts. The findings indicated that implementing the QMS model significantly aids primary schools in achieving a sustainable literacy culture. This research’s primary contribution lied in the QMS model, offering a structured framework for elementary schools to enhance sustainability literacy. This model contributes to theoretical understanding and practically supports the ongoing development of a strong, effective literacy culture in primary education settings.

Abstract

This paper presents the findings analysis of categories and functions on vague language used in disaster news articles on Thejakartapost.com based on the theory of Channell (1994). In the journalism context, especially in disaster news article, the information often contains vague language that has imprecise statement since it is harmful. Therefore, to avoid wrong statements, the reporters often use vague language in presenting information accurately. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method. All data were 24 news articles. There were 12 news articles of natural disasters and 12 news articles of human-caused disasters. The period was from April 2018 until March 2019. The findings of this study showed that there were three categories of vague language, namely vague additives to numbers that were realized by approximators and adjectives. The others were vagueness of choice of vague words that were realized by nouns, and vagueness by scalar implicatures that were realized by quantifiers, numbers, and exaggerations. In addition, they also have its functions of vague language. Firstly, giving the right amount of information, it is used since the reporters just shared the right number of information although the exact number was not available. Secondly, filling in lexical gaps of uncertainty, it is used since the reporters wanted to cover the imprecise information with another word, and generalized word that was difficult to identify. Last but not least, self-protection. It is used since the reporters wanted to protect and hedge their statements from imprecise information. Keywords: Vague Language, Categories, News Articles, Disasters, implicature

Abstract

Abstract

Stakeholder management is vital to the project's success because the strategies, plans, methods and processes for stakeholders determine the success of implementing sustainable construction. This study aims to analyze the quality improvement of tertiary institutions in optimizing stakeholder involvement and determining quality improvement priority strategies. The research method used is qualitative, with the NVivo 12 application analysis. This research was conducted at the Pacific University (UNIPAS) Morotai. The study results show that through stakeholder involvement, Pacific University Morotai is committed to developing the potential of Morotai's human resources for the development and progress of the Morotai Island Regency area. As well as the proposed quality improvement priority strategy is also inseparable from the proposed derivative strategy in quality improvement within the Pacific University of Morotai itself. This derivative strategy can be effective, assuming the priority strategy can be implemented effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Effect of Work Motivation and Workload on Employee Retention at Pertamina Jaya Hospital, Central Jakarta. This study uses an associative quantitative research type. The quantitative approach emphasizes objective measurement of social phenomena using numerical data which is then analyzed statistically. The results of a simple regression show the equation: Y=34.517+0.186X_1 The regression coefficient is 0.186 with Sig. 0.009 0.05 means that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee retention. The Pearson correlation value of 0.193 indicates a very weak but significant relationship. This means that the higher the work motivation, the employee retention tends to increase. The results of a simple regression produce: Y=46.079+0.122X_2 The regression coefficient is 0.122 with Sig. 0.006 >0.05 indicates that workload has a negative and significant effect on employee retention. The correlation value of 0.202 indicates a strong but significant relationship. The results of multiple regression show: Y=38.556+0.172 The F test produces F count of 7.016 with Sig. 0.001<0.05, meaning that work motivation and workload simultaneously have a significant effect on employee retention. Motivation increases retention, while workload decreases it.
