Abstract

Background: Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight can cause various skin problems, including sunburn, hyperpigmentation, and premature aging. Natural-based sunscreens are an innovative alternative to synthetic sunscreens, which may have side effects such as irritation and allergic reactions. Dragon’s blood (Daemonorops draco (Willd.) Blume) is known for its strong antioxidant properties due to its flavonoid content, particularly dracorhodin, which has the potential to be formulated as a sunscreen. This study aims to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of jernang resin sunscreen in providing UV protection and improving skin moisture and brightness. Method: A clinical trial was conducted involving 30 volunteers aged 18–50 years with normal skin and no history of allergies or skin diseases. The study included irritation tests, hedonic evaluations, skin brightness assessments, moisture level analysis using a Skin Analyzer, and UV protection effectiveness using a UV Camera over 30 days. The statistical analysis was performed using One-Way ANOVA and Duncan's test for significant differences. Results: The results showed that the jernang resin sunscreen exhibited significant UV protection, maintaining its effectiveness for 30 days. It also enhanced skin moisture and brightness compared to the control group. The hedonic test revealed high acceptability regarding color, texture, and aroma. The irritation test indicated no significant adverse reactions, confirming the product's safety. Conclusion: Dragon’s blood sunscreen has demonstrated excellent potential as an effective and safe natural alternative for UV protection, with added benefits of improving skin hydration and brightness. Further research is recommended to optimize its formulation for commercial use.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Anak Dalam tribe is an indigenous tribe whose life is still primitive. This minority tribe currently inhabits the provinces of Jambi and South Sumatra. They are known by various names such as jungle people, ulu people, Anak Dalam tribe, and Kubu tribe. Their distance from the outside environment leads them to primarily utilize natural materials for their daily needs, including food and medicinal purposes. This community service activity was conducted in three stages: preparation and permit acquisition, implementation, and evaluation. The activity results demonstrated an improvement in knowledge regarding processing medicinal plants into herbal products. A total of 27 participants attended this activity, showing an improvement in knowledge from 33.33% to 88.89%. Keywords: Herbal Medicine, SAD, Degenerative, Community, Pelempang   ABSTRAK Suku anak dalam merupakan salah satu suku asli yang kehidupannya masih primitif. Suku ini menjadi suku minoritas yang saat ini masih mendiami wilayah provinsi Jambi dan Sumatera Selatan. Mereka dikenal dengan sebutan orang rimba, orang ulu, suku anak dalam, suku kubu. Jarak mereka yang cukup jauh dari lingkungan luar membuat mereka hidup lebih memanfaatkan bahan alam sebagai sarana pemenuhan kebutuhan hidup mulai dari makanan hingga untuk medis. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan 3 tahapan yaitu izin kegiatan persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan didapatkan adanya perbaikan pengetahuan cara pengolahan tanaman obat menjadi bentuk produk jamu. Kegiatan ini diikuti sebanyak 27 orang partisipant dengan perbaikan pengetahuan dari 33,33% menjadi 88,89%. Kata kunci: Jamu, SAD, Degeneratif, Masyarakat, Pelempang lebih memanfaatkan bahan alam sebagai sarana pemenuhan kebutuhan hidup mulai dari makanan hingga untuk medis. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan 3 tahapan yaitu izin kegiatan persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan didapatkan adanya perbaikan pengetahuan cara pengolahan tanaman obat menjadi bentuk produk jamu. Abstract

Sebaceous glands produce excessive oil causing clogged pores and inflammation. The inflammation produces lesions called acne. Plants that have natural antibacterial activity are black cumin (Nigella sativa Linn) and olive (Olea europaea var. Europea) which contain bioactive compounds. The combination of these two natural ingredients in the form of a gel mask makes it easy to apply as an acne medicine. The study aims to determine the inhibitory activity of black cumin and olive oil gel masks (MJHZ) against propionibacterium acne, staphylococcus aureus and staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. The sample was distilled into essential oils. Inhibitory activity against bacteria using the disk diffusion method. The results of the MIC analysis of bacteria from MJHZ have bacteriostatic activity against P.acne, S.aureus and S.epidermidis bacteria at a concentration of 0.039%. After being formulated into a gel mask, MJHZ showed that the lower the concentration of the two oils, the greater the inhibitory power against P. acne, S. aureus and S. epidermidis bacteria. This shows that the MJHZ gel mask with a concentration of 0.5% each has the greatest inhibitory activity against P. acne bacteria of 21.55 mm compared to the inhibitory power against other bacteria such as S. aureus and S. epidermidis. Therefore, the MJHZ gel mask has the potential as an acne medication.Keywords:  antiacne, black cumin, olive, propionibacterium acne

Abstract

Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience caused by actual or potential tissue damage. Java chili (Piper retrofractum Vahl.) is an Indonesian plant known for its secondary metabolites, including piperine, pipernonalin, guineensine, and essential oils. Among these, piperine is the primary compound with potential analgesic properties. This study evaluates the analgesic effects of transdermal patches containing ethanol extract of Java chili using the writhing test and macrophage count in acetic acid-induced mice. The patches were formulated with different concentrations of the active ingredient: F1 (1g extract), F2 (2g extract), and F3 (3g extract). The results show that increasing the ethanol extract concentration significantly alters the physical characteristics of the patches, including shape, thickness, color, and durability. In the analgesic test, the macrophage count in the negative control group was 29.33 ± 0.57. In contrast, the treatment groups showed a concentration-dependent reduction: F1 (20.00 ± 1.73), F2 (13.00 ± 3.00), and F3 (7.33 ± 1.15). The positive control group exhibited the lowest macrophage count (3.66 ± 1.15). These findings indicate that transdermal patches containing Java chili ethanol extract possess significant analgesic potential, with higher concentrations yielding stronger effects.

Abstract

Arang aktif cangkang sawit memiliki daya serap terhadap iodine sebesar 761,46 mg/g lebih baik dibandingkan arang aktif tempurung kelapa yakni sebesar 460,30 mg/g. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa arang aktif cangkang sawit mampu menyerap kotoran dan racun sehingga sangat potensial diformulasi menjadi pasta gigi. Natrium monofluorofosfat pada pasta gigi bekerja menghambat metabolisme bakteri, sehingga kombinasi ini sangat baik sekali digunakan sebagai pasta gigi antiplak bagi perokok. Penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh arang aktif cangkang sawit dan sodium monofluorophosphate dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri dan mengurangi akumulasi plak perokok pada formula pasta gigi. Perbandingan konsentrasi antara arang aktif cangkang sawit dan sodium monofluorophosphate yakni F1= 3%: 0,06%; F2= 6%: 0,09%; F3= 9%: 0,12% dan F4= 12%: 0,15%. Formula 3 (F3) dan 4 (F4) merupakan formula yang memiliki sifat fisik dan stabilitas yang baik dari seluruh formula sedangkan uji daya hambat bakteri Streptococcus mutans dalam mengurangi akumulasi plak dan uji skor plak gigi kedua formula tergolong kategori kuat dan sangat baik dibandingkan pasta gigi komersil. Dari hasil dapat disimpulkan bahwa arang aktif cangkang sawit dan sodium monofluorophosphat memiliki pengaruh sebagai antibakteri dan antiplak.

Abstract

ABSTRACTPedada fruit extract contains chemicals in the form of flavonoids, polyphenols and tannins. The flavonoids contained in pedada fruit are useful as very strong antioxidants, not only that, the very high vitamin C content in pedada fruit can be used as an immune booster. Based on this, the idea emerged to create an innovative functional drink product in the form of instant granule powder from pedada fruit as an immune booster and pedada fruit jelly candy as an antidote to free radicals. The aim of this Community Service is to improve public health through promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative efforts for the community to avoid disease infections and open business opportunities for Nurchery MSMEs to produce instant granule powder and pedada fruit jelly candy which has the power keep it longer. The methods implemented include counseling or outreach to the community as well as assistance to MSMEs regarding the production of instant granule powder and jelly candy. The results obtained from this PPM are the use of instant granule powder and pedada fruit jelly candy by the community as a health drink to increase endurance as well as the development of Nurchery MSMEs in producing instant pedada fruit granule powder with the trademark name "Grada" and pedada fruit Jelly Candy under the brand name The "Jelida" trade has copyright regarding its manufacturing process and is currently still in the process of being PIRT and Halal.Keywords: granule, instant, immune, pedada, candy ABSTRAKEkstrak buah pedada memiliki kandungan kimia berupa flavonoid, polifenol dan tannin. Flavonoid yang dikandung oleh buah pedada bermanfaat sebagai antioksidan yang sangat kuat, tidak hanya itu saja kandungan vitamin C yang sangat tinggi pada buah pedada dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai peningkat daya tahan tubuh. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka muncul ide untuk membuat suatu inovasi produk minuman fungsional berupa serbuk granul instan buah pedada sebagai peningkat daya tahan tubuh dan bentuk permen jelly buah pedada sebagai penangkal radikal bebas. Adapun tujuan dari Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat (PPM) ini adalah untuk peningkatan kesehatan masyarakat melalui upaya promotif, preventif, kuratif dan rehabilitatatif masyarakat agar terhindar dari infeksi penyakit dan membuka peluang usaha bagi UMKM Nurchery untuk memproduksi serbuk granul instan dan permen jelly buah pedada yang memiliki daya simpan yang lebih lama. Adapun metode yang dilaksanakan berupa penyuluhan atau sosialisasi kepada masyarakat serta pendampingan kepada UMKM terkait produksi serbuk granul instan dan permen jelly. Hasil yang diperoleh pada PPM ini adalah termanfaatkannya serbuk granul instan dan permen jelly buah pedada oleh masyarakat sebagai minuman kesehatan peningkat daya tahan tubuh serta berkembangnya UMKM Nurchery dalam memproduksi serbuk granul instan buah pedada dengan nama merek dagang “Grada” dan Permen Jelly buah pedada dengan merek dagang “Jelida” yang telah memiliki hak cipta terkait proses pembuatannya serta saat ini masih dalam proses pengurusan PIRT dan Halal.Kata kunci: granul, instan, imun, pedada, permen

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PPM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan nilai jual produk Permen jelly Butelang (Bunga Telang) dengan memanfaatkan minyak tengkawang sebagai pengawet alami yang aman, sehat, dan tahan lama. UMKM Nurchery di Kecamatan Paal Merah membuat Permen Jelly Butelang secara teratur, jadi mereka dipilih sebagai mitra. Namun, mereka menghadapi masalah daya simpan produk dan kurangnya inovasi, yang dapat membuat produk mereka lebih bersaing di pasar. Minyak tengkawang, bahan lokal yang sangat potensial yang berasal dari Sarolangun Jambi dan memiliki sifat antioksidan dan antimikroba, digunakan sebagai pengganti pengawet alami untuk menggantikan bahan sintetis yang berbahaya bagi kesehatan. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup kegiatan sosialisasi, pelatihan formulasi produk, pendampingan produksi, evaluasi kualitas organoleptik, dan daya simpan produk. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa marshmallow yang dibuat dengan minyak tengkawang lebih tahan lama, memiliki cita rasa yang tetap disukai pelanggan, dan memiliki nilai jual yang lebih besar daripada produk awal. Selain itu, UMKM mitra memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan baru dalam membuat makanan sehat yang dibuat dengan bahan lokal. Diharapkan bahwa program ini akan membantu UMKM menjadi lebih mandiri dalam membuat produk inovatif yang berdaya saing dan ramah kesehatan, serta membantu pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal yang potensial secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Dry skin is the main problem of skin damage such as scaly, peeling, cracked and itchy skin, this is because the skin loses fluids due to weather changes and as we age we experience a decrease in the amount of oil and water on the skin. Facial skin care is done, one of which is by using a peel off gel mask of dates palm powder. The fat content is useful as a facial skin moisturizer. This study aims to determine the formula of the peel off gel mask which has determine its safety and effectiveness in moisturizing facial skin. The peel off gel mask was made into 3 formulas with the concentration of date palm seeds powder 1% (FI), 2% (FII) and 3% (FIII).  Procedures in this study include irritation test, hedonic test and facial skin moisture test using a skin analyzer compared before and after use. Peel off gel mask choco milk as a positive control. The results showed that FII ( 2%) corresponding the requirements of no irritation occurs compared to other formulas. Testing the effectiveness of facial skin moisture showed that FII (2%) was able to increase the water content after use and the water content was higher than the positive control. Results it can be concluded that the FII has safe for use and effective in moisturizing facial skin.

Abstract

Pharmacy is a compulsory course for pharmacy students that teaches about the art of compounding drugs. This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing a project-based learning model on the Pharmacy course at Jambi University. The research method used is to use learning media by implementing the results of the preparation formulation project and then analyzing the learning outcomes using questionnaire data. Data analysis is presented descriptively. The results show that project-based learning has a positive impact on students. Most students (47.44% agree and 23.07% strongly agree) stated that project-based learning creates a new and innovative atmosphere in the pharmacy course. In addition, students are also satisfied with the application of this method (43.07% are very satisfied and 38.72% are satisfied). ABSTRAKFarmasetika merupakan mata kuliah wajib bagi mahsiswa farmasi yang mengajarkan tentang seni meracik obat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek pada mata kuliah Farmasetika di Universitas Jambi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah menggunakan media pembelajaran dengan menerapkan hasil proyek formulasi sediaan kemudian di analisis hasil pembelajaran menggunakan data hasil kuesioner. Analisis data di tampilkan secara deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek memberikan dampak positif bagi mahasiswa. Sebagian besar mahasiswa (47,44% setuju dan 23,07% sangat setuju) menyatakan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek menciptakan suasana yang baru dan inovatif pada mata kuliah farmasetika. Selain itu, mahasiswa juga merasa puas dengan penerapan metode ini (43,07% sangat puas dan 38,72% puas).
