Abstract

Phytochemical studies about Curcuma genus such as Curcuma Longa and Curcuma zedoaria have shown the plants contains curcumin as the most isolated compound shown photoprotection agent and can be formulated as cream preparation. The concentration of Curcuma longa in cream preparation in this reseach was 0,5% and Curcuma zedoaria 0,5; 1; 1,5; 2; 2,5; and 3%. Cream preparations were physical evaluated of semi solid dosage form i.e pH organoleptic, spreadability, homogeneity, adhesion time and viscosity. The result was compared to SNI 16-4399-1996 (Indonesian Standard of UV protection preparation). All formulas were tested for radical scavenging activity using the DPPH method and SPF value determination. The results shown that formulas 3-6 met SNI requirements while formulas 1 and 2 did not met SNI from adhesion testing with results <1 second. Based on the antioxidant test results, it was found that formula 6 had the best antioxidant activity with lowest IC50 value of 126.69 ppm. It was linear as SPF value of formula 6 with 20.24 (ultra category). From this research, it was concluded that the greater of concentration of Curcuma zedoaria extract in cream preparation so free radical scavenger activity was better. Antioxidant activity is related to the SPF value of the preparation.

Abstract

Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) mampu meningkatkan inovasi, kreativitas dan kemandirian ekonomi masyarakat melalui berbagai produk dan jasa salah satunya produk teh sungkai KaiKai yang diproduksi oleh UMKM Nurchery yang berada di Kota Jambi, sehingga dapat meningkatkan ketahanan ekonomi nasional. Di era digital dan globalisasi, Inovasi sangat penting dalam persaingan yang ketat. kelangsungan UMKM Nurchery memerlukan inovasi dalam produk, layanan, distribusi dan promosi. Hal ini memungkinkan UMKM Nurchery tetap kompetitif, menjangkau pasar baru dan memenuhi kebutuhan pelanggan yang beragam dan berubah-ubah. Penciptaan produk, termasuk teknik packing design sangat memainkan peran penting dalam kesuksesan UMKM. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dalam hal pengembangan kualitas produk teh sungkai Kaikai melalui inovasi teknik packing designdi UMKM Nurchery adalah untuk meningkatkan daya saing dan nilai tambah produk di pasar yang semakin kompetitif. Inovasi teknik packing design ini dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan aspek fungsionalitas, estetika dan keberlanjutan lingkungan. Dengan demikian kualitas produk teh sungaki KaiKai tetap terjaga. Dengan inovasi ini, produk sungkai teh Kaikai diharapkan dapat memperluas jangkauan pasar, meningkatkan penjualan dan memperkuat citra merek dagang UMKM Nurchery. Teknik packing design yang baik melindungi produk dari kerusakan dan meningkatkan kesan premium. Perubahan pada teknik packing designproduk dapat meningkatkan nilainya, menarik perhatian pembeli, dan membedakannya dari produk pesaing. Pengemasan inovatif juga menunjukkan kualitas dan identitas merek serta ramah lingkungan. Dengan mengembangkan cara baru untuk mengkemas produk, UMKM Nurchery memiliki kemampuan untuk meningkatkan daya tahan perusahaan dan konkuren di pasar.

Abstract

Tujuan dari Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat adalah untuk meningkatkan nilai jual produk marshmallow Butelang (Bunga Telang) dengan memanfaatkan minyak tengkawang sebagai pengawet alami yang aman, sehat, dan tahan lama. Marshmallow Butelang telah diproduksi secara teratur oleh UMKM Nurchery di Kecamatan Paal Merah berdasarkan hal tersebut maka dipilih sebagai mitra pada kegiatan ini. Namun, mereka menghadapi masalah terkait daya simpan produk dan kurangnya inovasi, yang dapat meningkatkan daya saing produk di pasar. Minyak tengkawang merupakan bahan alam lokal yang berasal dari Sarolangun Jambi yang sangat potensial dan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan antimikroba, sehingga digunakan sebagai alternatif pengawet alami untuk menggantikan bahan sintetis yang dapat berbahaya bagi kesehatan. Kegiatan sosialisasi, pelatihan formulasi produk, pendampingan produksi, evaluasi kualitas organoleptik dan daya simpan produk adalah bagian dari metode pelaksanaan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa marshmallow yang dibuat dengan minyak tengkawang lebih tahan lama, memiliki cita rasa yang tetap disukai pelanggan, dan memiliki nilai jual yang lebih tinggi daripada produk awal. UMKM mitra memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan baru dalam pembuatan makanan sehat yang dibuat dengan bahan-bahan lokal. Diharapkan bahwa kegiatan ini akan membantu UMKM menjadi lebih mandiri dalam membuat produk inovatif yang berdaya saing dan ramah kesehatan, serta membantu pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal yang potensial secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Meningkatnya prevalensi gangguan kesehatan mental memerlukan intervensi yang sistematis, salah satunya melalui peningkatan literasi kesehatan mental pada populasi remaja. Tingkat literasi rendahnya cenderung menangani masalah mental ke praktik-praktik berisiko, termasuk menganggapan keliru bahwa rokok elektrik lebih aman daripada rokok konvensional padahal sejumlah zat terlarang seperti etomidate, metomidate, dan ketamin dilaporkan dapat ditemukan pada beberapa produk cairan rokok elektrik serta penggunaan psikotropika yang tidak tepat bahkan meningkatkan kondisi psikologis. Untuk itu dilakukan intervensi edukatif pada siswa MAN 1 Kota Jambi menggunakan kombinasi ceramah, diskusi aktif, dan materi audiovisual untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan pencegahan. Evaluasi efektivitas program dilakukan dengan instrumen pre-test dan post-test berbasis Google Form , hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata pengetahuan dari 55,12 menjadi 80,48, disertai respon antusias dari peserta terhadap representasi materi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan terpadu berbasis partisipasi aktif mampu meningkatkan literasi dan kesiapan remaja dalam mencegah serta mengelola gangguan kesehatan mental. Namun, keinginan dan dampak intervensi memerlukan langkah lanjutan berupa kolaborasi berkelanjutan antara institusi pendidikan dan layanan kesehatan.

Abstract

Rhaphidophora pinnata leaves are one of the herbal plants that have pharmacological effects. Previous research has shown that ekor naga leaves contain secondary metabolites with tonic pharmacological effects, including the ability to heal cut wounds, as well as antihyperglycemic and antidiabetic properties. This research aims to demonstrate the potential of ekor naga leaf extract as a gastroprotective agent. The extract was evaluated using standard methods, including determination of water content, ash content, phytochemical screening, and compound identification by LC-MS. Gastroprotective testing was carried out by dividing the treatment group into six groups, including the Group 1: normal group, Group 2: negative control (Sodium CMC 0.5%), Group 3: positive control (Sucralfate), Group 4: 125mg/KgBW extract, Group 5: 250 mg/KgBW extract, and Group 6: 500mg/KgBW extract. The results of the observations were in the form of gastric ulcer severity scores and histological images of the gastric organs. Gastroprotective testing revealed significant differences between the treatment groups and the negative control group (p<0.05). The 500 mg/kgBW extract exhibited the most effective gastroprotective effect, with a 42.5% inhibition rate and minimal inflammation observed both macroscopically and microscopically. These results suggest that ethanol extract from ekor naga leaves may serve as an alternative or complementary therapy for gastritis.

Abstract

The community service activity aimed to enhance public understanding and skills in utilizing ginger (Zingiber officinale) as a natural ingredient for functional food through the production of jelly candy. This initiative was motivated by the low level of public knowledge, as indicated by pre-test results showing limited understanding of the health benefits and processing techniques of ginger. The activity consisted of educational sessions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice on jelly candy production using natural ingredients, including ginger extract, sugar, jelly powder, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon. Evaluation through post-tests, interactive quizzes, and observation of practical sessions demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills. Participants showed enthusiasm and were able to independently produce ginger-based jelly candy. This program not only increased public literacy on the use of herbal ingredients but also encouraged the development of small-scale functional snack enterprises. Future implementations are expected to expand to other communities with continuous mentoring to strengthen economic and health impacts.

Abstract

Background:  Mosquitoes are insects that have the potential to be vectors or carriers of diseases to humans, including Dengue Fever (DBD), chikungunya, filariasis, and Japanese Encephalitis. Cinnamon leaves (Cinnamomum burmannii) are known to have eugenol compounds that can act as insecticides derived from natural ingredients. Objective: To determine the physical properties and effectiveness of cinnamon leaf essential oil against mosquitoes in the form of spray gel preparations. Methods:  The process of making spray gel preparations from Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil uses variations in essential oil concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. The base used as a gelling agent is Carbopol 940. Evaluation of the physical properties of the preparation includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, spreadability tests, and adhesion tests. Result: The results of the study showed that differences in essential oil concentrations can affect the physical properties and effectiveness of spray gel preparations as mosquito repellents. Of the three formulas, F1 5%, F2 10%, and F3 15%, the best preparation is F2 with a concentration of Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil (Cinnamomum burmannii) of 10% v/v. Conclusion:  The formula with the best results of physical properties and effectiveness were F2 with a concentration of 10%, which had an average protection power value of 82.4% with physical properties that met the requirements of a spray gel preparation.

Abstract

Background: Bacterial infection is an event that is always a problem in the world of health. Bacterial infection can cause diseases such as diarrhea where the vector of transmission can be through the hands. Prevention can be done by maintaining hand hygiene, one of which is by using topical preparations that provide antibacterial activity made from natural ingredients, especially natural ingredients that are used by the Anak Dalam Tribe (SAD) in Jambi Province as medicine. Objective: To find out the potential of plants used by the Anak Dalam tribe in Jambi Province as antibacterials. Method: This study uses a systematic review method of the PRISMA method by searching for scientific publications in 2015-2025 based on the Crossref database. Results: The results obtained were endemic plants used by the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) as medicine that have antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as S. aureus and E. Coli Conclusion: Plants that are often used by the Suku Anak Dalam as medicines have antibacterial abilities so that it can be proven that these plants have scientific evidence as antibacterials

Abstract

Bau mulut (halitosis) merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan mulut yang dapat memengaruhi kepercayaan diri seseorang. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi halitosis adalah dengan pengembangan sediaan mouth spray berbasis teknologi nano menggunakan minyak atsiri jintan hitam (Nigella sativa L.) yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Streptococcus mutans. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keamanan dan tingkat penerimaan sensori sediaan mouth nano spray berbasis minyak atsiri jintan hitam melalui uji iritasi dan uji hedonik. Uji iritasi dilakukan pada 30 relawan dengan parameter kemerahan, gatal, dan alergi, sedangkan uji hedonik dilakukan untuk menilai rasa, aroma, kesegaran, dan kenyamanan menggunakan skala Likert. Hasil uji iritasi menunjukkan bahwa 90% relawan tidak mengalami reaksi iritasi, dengan skor total 3,06 yang termasuk kategori aman digunakan. Hasil uji hedonik menunjukkan tingkat penerimaan yang sangat baik, dengan mayoritas panelis memberikan penilaian “suka” hingga “sangat suka” terhadap semua parameter sensori. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sediaan mouth nano spray berbasis minyak atsiri jintan hitam (Nigella sativa L.) aman digunakan dan memiliki daya terima yang tinggi sehingga berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai produk alami penyegar mulut.
