Abstract

Telah diisolasi 3-oxofridelin dari fraksi etil asetat yang merupakan fraksi aktif antibakteri dari daun Garcinia celebica (Guttiferae).  Struktur molekul senyawa ditetapkan berdasarkan data spektroskopi IR, 1H dan 13C NMR serta perbandingan data tersebut dengan data sejenis yang telah dilaporkan.  Aktivitas antibakteri dari senyawa isolasi juga diuji dengan menggunakan bakteri  Escherichia coli, Shigella dysentriae, Bacillus subtilis dan Staphylococcus aureus. Abstract

Pembuatan zeolit dari abu terbang batubara dan diaplikasikan sebagai adsorben untuk penyerapan merkuri (II) telah dilakukan. Zeolit dibuat dari abu terbang batubara dengan menggunakan metode solid state dan dikarakterisasi dengan menggunakan XRD dan FTIR. Adsorpsi merkuri (II) menggunakan zeolit dilakukan dengan variasi suhu furnace dan waktu kontak. Hasil karakterisasi dengan XRD memperlihatkan bahwa tipe zeolit adalah Faujasit dengan puncak pada 6,0688°; 15,3959°; dan 23,2781°. Karakterisasi dengan FTIR menunjukkan bahwa abu terbang dapat digunakan untuk pembuatan zeolit pada 462,92 cm-1. Adsorpsi merkuri (II) menggunakan zeolit menunjukkan bahwa suhu optimum furnace adalah 7500C dan waktu kontak optimum pada 150 menit. Data isoterm digambarkan dengan Persamaan Langmuir dan kinetika adsorpsi mengikuti model kinetika orde dua pseudo dengan konstanta laju adsorpsi adalah 0,818 (g/mg min). Abstract

Abroma augusta L plant traditionally was used to treat swellings, cuts, sores, and bruises. In the province of Jambi, A. augusta is used in folk medicine to treat wounds. This study aims to isolate the steroid compound from the root of A. augusta L and determine its anti-inflammatory activities. Extraction and fractionation have been done with graded maceration using solvents with different polarities, which are n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. The separation was performed by column chromatography, followed by preparative thin-layer chromatography. The characterization of the isolate was carried out using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and infrared spectrophotometry, GC-MS. The anti-inflammatory activities of methanol extract and isolate of A. augusta was performed in this study was designed to evaluate the dose-response relationship of the anti-inflammatory activity in rat models of chronic inflammation chromatography to obtain isolate 2.1.1 that characterize and showed maximum absorbance at 265. The result of IR showed the presence of functional groups, -C=C-H, -C=H, -CH, CH3, CH2, and –CO belongs to the steroid compound. The results of the GC-MS show that isolates contain squalene compounds with a value of m/z 410, Isolate and crude extract showed an anti-inflammatory activity that almost approached the positive control of sodium 4-chlorophenolate. It could be concluded that isolate and extract provide good anti-inflammatory activity, that promise for new drug candidate squalene-based A. augusta.

Abstract

Sumatera is one of the largest mangrove areas in Indonesia. One of the mangrove plants that have the potential as a drug and has been used traditionally is Xylocarpus granatum. This study was conducted to determine the influence of methanol extract from leaf X. granatum in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis. Extraction of leaf X. granatum is done by the maceration method using methanol solvent. Test resistance of methanol extracts from the leaves of X. granatum is performed by a method of diffusion discs. Measurement of antibacterial activity is carried out with several treatments i.e. the negative control (aquadest), positive control (Chloramphenicol), and several different extract concentrations of 25ppm, 50ppm, 75ppm, and 100ppm. The value of the antibacterial activity is then analyzed further using ANOVA and the Dunn test. The results showed that the leaves extract X. granatum extracted using a methanol solvent contained active phytochemicals compounds such as steroids, saponins, tannins, and phenols. The test results of each extract concentration showed a significant influence on the slow growth of S. epidermidis, characterized by the formation of a clear zone around the disc. The highest antibacterial activity is shown at a concentration of 25ppm with an antimicrobial index value of 3,55 which is categorized as a strong antibacterial response.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia is a disease caused by an increase in uric acid levels in the blood. Currently, various treatments are developed by utilizing natural ingredients as an anti-hyperuricemia. Sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack) is one of the plants that contain a natural compound that can use as an anti-hyperuricemia treatment is the leaves of sungkai (Peronema canescens Jack.). The aim of this study to determine the anti-hyperuricemia activity of the ethanol extract of Sungkai leaves. The test animals used in this study were male white mice Wistar strain. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 groups consisting of negative control (Na CMC 0.5%) positive control (allopurinol 10 mg / kg BW), treatment 1 (extract 125 mg / kg BW), treatment 2 (extract 250 mg / kg BW) and treatment 3 (extract 500 mg / kg BW). The parameters seen were uric acid levels measured using the POCT (Point of Care Test) method and analyzed using One Way Anova statistical analysis and Duncan's continued test. Our results showed that the treatment group with a dose of 125-500 mg / Kg BW reduce uric acid levels in mice. The best dose was a dose of 500 mg / Kg BW in reducing uric acid levels in mice with percent decline of 38.66%.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Lipstik adalah produk kosmetika yang dibuat dari cetak tuang bahan berbasis padatan yang mengandung bahan pewarna terlarut dan/atau tersuspensi yang memenuhi kriteria/persyaratan sebagai pewarna. Sediaan ini mengandung lilin, minyak, dan pewarna sebagai tiga bahan utama dan beberapa bahan tambahan sebagai antioksidan, pengawet, dan parfum. Timbal (Pb) dalam produk kosmetik bisa berasal dari beberapa bahan alami yang mengandung timbal (Pb) (seperti pewarna dan pigmen) atau peralatan yang digunakan selama proses produksi. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui kadar logam timbal (Pb) yang terkandung dalam sediaan lipstik yang beredar di Kecamatan Pasar Jambi. Metode: Metode yang digunakan untuk mengetahui kadar timbal (Pb) yaitu secara kualitatif menggunakan pereaksi warna dan secara kuantitatif menggunakan SSA (Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom). Hasil: Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu dari 10 sampel lipstik yang digunakan positif mengandung logam berat timbal (Pb) ditandai dengan terbentuknya endapan kuning oleh reagen KI. Rata-rata kadar logam berat timbal (Pb) pada lipstik adalah 0,899 µg/g. Kesimpulan: Hal ini menginformasikan bahwa lipstik yang beredar di Kecamatan Pasar Jambi aman jika digunakan oleh masyarakat. Berdasarkan peraturan yang dikeluarkan oleh BPOM RI batas kandungan logam berat timbal (Pb) dalam kosmetik yaitu < 20 µg/g.

Abstract

Bioactivity is an elective course at the Jambi University Chemistry Study Program which focuses on finding compounds that can act as drug candidates. This study aimed to determine the results of the implementation of the PjBL model in terms of the quality of the student activity process and the quality of the results, student achievement. This research is a descriptive study with the subject of semester V students for the 2021/2022 academic year who contracted the Bioactivity course. Data collection techniques were carried out by test and non-test techniques. The research data was measured and analyzed using the average percentage method on the results of the assessment of student activities (visual activities, oral activities, listening activities, writing activities, motor activities, mental activities, emotional activities) and student learning achievements (cognitive, affective, psychomotor) explained qualitatively and using data reduction, data display, and verification steps. The results showed that the implementation of the PjBL model improved the quality of the process, namely high student activity reaching 80% (2) the quality of the results in terms of: (a) cognitive learning achievement with an average of 75 known to be 46% - 88% of students completed. (b) affective learning achievement is known that 15% of students have very good affective learning achievement, 79% of students are good, 6% of students are poor, and 0% of students are very poor; (c) the quality of the results, namely psychomotor learning achievement on the project with an average of 87.5% very good; 10% is good, and 5% is not good

Abstract

Ecoprint is a technique for printing colors and shapes on fabric using natural materials. Ecoprint techniques have been introduced to junior high school students because they can capture the material and teacher's instructions independently, think critically and creatively. The purpose of the ecoprint introduction activity is to provide knowledge about ecoprint and students' skills in utilizing local potential through natural materials or plants around the school. The methods used are lectures, demonstrations, practice, and evaluation. The questionnaires and direct observations on ecoprint products were used as evaluations for this activity. Students have been able to print motifs and colors from leaves and flowers on a cloth to produce ecoprint products according to their respective creativity.

Abstract

Merkuri merupakan logam beracun yang dapat menimbulkan efek serius pada kesehatan meskipun pada konsentrasi yang sangat kecil. Dicurigai ada kandungan merkuri pada kosmetik krim pemutih illegal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kandungan dan mengetahui kadar merkuri pada krim pemutih merek X. Sampel krim pemutih X dipilih dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Sebanyak 2 g sampel dilarutkan dengan cara dekstruksi basah untuk menghilangkan zat-zat organik. Identifikasi merkuri menggunakan uji warna dengan reagen KI, HCl, dan NaOH, sedangkan analisis kuantitatif dilakukan dengan metode Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) pada panjang gelombang 253,7 nm. Hasil uji kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa sampel yang direaksikan dengan pereaksi KI menghasilkan endapan merah orange, yang menunjukkan hasil positif adanya merkuri. Namun, dengan pereaksi NaOH dan HCl tidak menunjukkan hasil reaksi positif. Semua sampel teridentifikasi kandungan merkuri, dengan kadar masing-masing sampel 0,29; 0,289; 0,201; 0,179; 0,265; 0,263; 0,193; 0,194; 0,328; dan 0,304 ppm. Krim pemutih ilegal merek X positif mengandung merkuri dengan kadar merkuri rata-rata 0,251 ppm.
