Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to describe the learning and indicators which were shown by student in mathematical disposition used PQ4R learning method. Subject of this research was student VII-G grade SMP N 20 Bandar Lampung. The qualitative research data was shown in description which explain student mathematical disposition that shown in learning process. Based on the result of this research, it was concluded that mathematical disposition which was frequent shown in learning process are confidence and curiosity.Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran dan indikator yang ditunjukkan siswa dalam disposisi matematis dengan menggunakan metode PQ4R. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII-G SMP Negeri 20 Bandar Lampung. Data penelitian merupakan data kualitatif dalam bentuk uraian yang menjelaskan disposisi matematis siswa yang muncul selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa disposisi matematis yang dominan muncul selama pembelajaran adalah percaya diri dan rasa ingin tahu.Kata kunci: disposisi matematis, kualitatif, preview, question, read, reflect, recite, and review

Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the effectiveness of contextual approach in terms of students understanding of mathematical concept. The design which was used was post-test only control group design. The population of this research was all students of grade VIII of Junior High School of Tri Sukses Natar Lampung Selatan in academic year of 2015/2016. The purposive random sampling technique was used to take two classes as the research samples. The data of this research were obtained by test of understanding of mathematical concepts. Based on the result and discussion, it could be concluded that contextual approach was effective in terms of students understanding of mathematical concept. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pendekatan kontekstual ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Desain yang digunakan adalah posttest only control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Tri Sukses Natar Lampung Selatan tahun pelajaran 2015/2016. Teknik purposive random sampling digunakan untuk mengambil dua kelas sebagai sampel penelitian. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui tes pemahaman konsep matematis. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan kontekstual efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: efektivitas, pemahaman konsep matematis, pendekatan kontekstual

Abstract

Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan percakapan kritis matematis siswa di kelas VII-H SMP Negeri 20 Bandarlampung selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung dengan menggunakan metode Socrates dalam pendekatan saintifik. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII-H di SMP Negeri 20 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Data penelitian ini merupakan data kualitatif tentang percakapan kritis matematis siswa yang diperoleh melalui catatan lapangan, lembar observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan simpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh simpulan bahwa dalam percakapan kritis matematis terdapat: (1) indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis yang muncul yaitu interpretasi, analisis, dan evaluasi, (2) tipe pertanyaan Socrates yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu klarifikasi dan alasan-alasan dan bukti penyelidikan, dan (3) tahapan saintifik yang paling banyak dilakukan yaitu tahapan communicating.  This qualitative research aimed at description students’ mathematical critical conversation at VII-H class of SMP Negeri 20 Bandarlampung during the learning process by using Socrates method in ScientificApproach. The subject of this research was VII-H students of SMP Negeri 20 Bandarlampung in 2017/2018 year. The data in this research was qualitative data about students’ mathematical critical conversation that was obtained by field notes, observation sheet, documentation, and interview. The data were analyzed through three phases, those are; data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion taking. Regarding to the result of the research, it can be conluded that in mathematical critical conversation there were: (1) indicator of mathematical critical thinking ability was arisen, those are; interpretation, analysis, and evaluation, (2) Socrates’s types of question much used  were; clarification and reasons and evidence of the investigation, and (3) scientific phase much done was communicating step. Kata kunci: metode Socrates, pendekatan saintifik, percakapan kritis matematis

Abstract

This qualitative-descriptive research aimed to know the student’s errors in solving mathematics word problems viewed by four aspects, such as understanding the question, making model of mathematics, doing calculation, and making conclusions. The subjects of this research were students of VII B class of SMPN 28 of Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2013/2014. The collecting data was done by test and interview. The data analysis was done by data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on the result of research, students’ errors in solving mathematics word problem were: (1) understanding the question (81,03%) (2) making  model of mathematics (56,03%) (3) doing calculation (56,90%) (4) making conclusions (57,76%). The biggest student’s error was understanding the question aspect. This case was caused students weren’t able to solve question systematically.Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan-kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika ditinjau dari empat aspek, yaitu memahami soal, membuat model matematika, melakukan komputasi, dan menarik kesimpulan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII B SMPN 28 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes dan wawancara. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika adalah: (1) memahami soal (81,03%) (2) membuat model matematika (56,03%) (3) melakukan komputasi (56,90%) (4) menarik kesimpulan (57,76%).  Kesalahan terbesar siswa adalah aspek memahami soal. Hal ini disebabkan siswa tidak mampu mengerjakan soal secara sistematis.Kata kunci: kesalahan, matematika, penyelesaian soal cerita

Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to know the influence of cooperative learning model of TPS type towards the increasing of the student’s mathematical representation skill. The design of this research was  pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was grade 8th students of SMPN 1 Pringsewu in academic year of 2013 / 2014. The samples of this research were students of VIII.4 and VIII.6 class, who were taken by purposive random sampling techniques. Based on the data analysis,it was found that student’s mathematical representation skill who followed by cooperative learning model of TPS type was higher than direct learning. Thus,it could be concluded that cooperative learning model of TPS type affect towards the increasing of the student’s mathematical representation skill.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS terhadap peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Pringsewu tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII.4 dan VIII.6 yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Berdasarkan analisis data, diperoleh bahwa peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran TPS lebih tinggi daripada pembelajaran langsung. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran langsung, representasi matematis, TPS

Abstract

The weakness of students mathematical problem solving ability are triggered by several factors. One of them is the implementation of learning modelthat is not appropriate. Two type of cooperative learning models which can improve students mathematical problem solving ability are GI and STAD. The purpose of this research was to compare the students mathematical problem solving ability between cooperative learning model of GI and STAD type. This research population was all students of grade 8th of SMP Negeri 2 Adiluwih in academic year of 2014/2015 that was distributed into six classes, and it was gotten students of VIII D and VIII E class as samples by purposive random sampling technique. This research data were obtained by test of mathematical problem solving. Based on the result of research, theres no difference of students mathematical problem solving in cooperative learning model of GI and STAD type.Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dipicu oleh beberapa faktor. Salah satunya adalah penggunaan model pembelajaran yang tidak tepat. Dua tipe model pembelajaran kooperatif yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis adalah GI dan STAD. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa antara model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe GI dan STAD. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Adiluwih tahun pelajaran 2014/2015 yang terdistribusi dalam enam kelas, diperoleh siswa kelas VIII D dan VIII E sebagai sampel melalui teknik purposive random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, tidak ada perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dalam model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe GI dan STAD.Kata kunci: GI, kemampuan pemecahan masalah, STAD

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe development of didactical design of triangle and rectangular to increase students mathematic spacial ability. This research used seven first steps of Borg and Gall Research and Development. This research based on the lack of students mathematical ability on geometri. Preliminary study start the research to get students learning obstacles at students of grade VIII-K SMPN 5 Bandarlampung. The developed didactical design was implemented to 35 students of grade VII-L SMPN 5 Bandarlampung. After this implementation, the developed didactical design was revised. The result of this research was didactical design which is shown at lesson plan (RPP) to increase students mathematic spasial ability. After the implementation, find out that students mathematic spasial ability is on middle level, about 66.92.Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pegembangan desain didaktis materi segitiga dan segiempat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan spasial matematis siswa.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah tujuh langkah awal penelitian dan pengembanganBorg and Gall.Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi rendahnya kemampuan matematika anak pada mata pelajaran geometri. Penelitian diawali dengan studi pendahuluan untuk mendapatkan data kesulitan belajar siswa dan kegiatan belajar yang dilakukan yang dilaksanakan di kelas VIII-K SMPN 5 Bandarlampung.Selanjutnya dikembangkan desain didaktis yang diujicobakan terbatas kepada 35 siswa kelas VII-L SMP 5 Bandarlampung.Dari uji coba terbatas dilakukan analisis untuk menyusun desain didaktis revisi.Hasil penelitian ini berupadesain didaktis yang tercermin dalam RPP untuk meningkatkan kemampuan spasial matematis siswa.Temuan dari pengembangan penelitian ini adalah kemampuan spasial matematis siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran dengan desain didaktis yang dikembangkan berada pada kategori sedang, yaitu sebesar 66.92.Kata kunci: Desain Didaktis, Kemampuan Spasial Matematis, Socrates Kontekstual.

Abstract

The student's concept of understanding is the ability to understand the subject matter which can be seen from the students after their extensive tests. One of approach in learning that can make students understand the concept so well is contextual learning approach. This research is a quasi experimental.  The population has been taken for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Bandar Lampung TP 2012/2013. Through purposive random sampling technique, VIIIH and VIIIF class are selected as samples. The design of this research is a pretest-posttest control design. The results of hypothesis test showed that (1) the average value of mathematical concept understanding of the students who took lesson with contextual learning approach was lower than the average value of student’s concept understanding who took lesson with the conventional approach, (2) a gain in the average value of  student’s concept understanding who took lesson with contextual learning approach was lower than students who took lesson with the conventional approach, (3) the percentage of students who passed the study on the class that used contextual learning approach did not reach 65%. So, contextual learning approach was not effective in terms of students' understanding of mathematic concept. This was caused the students in the control class had readiness to learn better than the experimental class. In addition, the control class was easily conditioned to teach than the experimental class.Keywords: effectiveness, contextual approach, the understanding of the concept

Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the effect of problem posing method on students mathematical conceptual understanding. The population of this study was all students of grade VII of Junior High School Tri Success Natar in academic of 2016/2017. This research used pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique and all students of VII B and VII C class were selected. The quantitative data obtained through conceptual understanding test on line and angle material. The analysis data used Mann-Whitney U test. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the problem posing method did not affect the students' mathematical concept understanding.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode problem posing terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Tri Sukses Natar tahun pelajaran 2016/2017. Penelitian ini menggunakan design pretest-posttest control group design. Sampel diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling dan seluruh siswa kelas VII B dan VII C terpilih. Data penelitian berupa data kuantitatif yang diperoleh melalui tes pemahaman konsep pada materi garis dan sudut. Analisis data menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa metode problem posing tidak berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.Kata kunci: pemahaman konsep matematiss, pengaruh, problem posing.

Abstract

This quasi experimental design aims to know the effectiveness of problem posing approach in towards student’s mathematical conceptual understanding skill. Problem posing approach is an approach in mathematics learning which students are asked to formulate, form, and ask some questions or problems by creating some similar problems to the questions given by the teacher or to the situation provided. The research design is posttets only control group design and the population is the students of 8th grade even semester of SMPN 22 Bandar  Lampung academic year 2012/2013 and the sample of this research are students in class VIII-H and VIII-G that are determined by purposive sampling technique. The kind of data of this research is quantitative which it is in the form of student’s mathematical conceptual understanding score that is aqcuired by student’s mathematical conceptual understanding test.  Based on research results, it is concluded that problem posing approach is effective in towards student’s mathematical conceptual understanding skills (in circle concepts), a case study in 8th grade students of even semester Junior High School State 22 Bandarlampung in Academic Years 2012/2013.Keywords:  Effectiveness, Problem Posing, Conceptual Understanding
