Abstract

Kedisiplinan santri merupakan elemen fundamental dalam sistem pendidikan pesantren yang berfungsi sebagai landasan pembentukan karakter sekaligus penunjang peningkatan kualitas pendidikan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan menguatkan kedisiplinan santri sebagai strategi dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di Dayah MUDI 2 Blang Garang, Kecamatan Samalanga, Kabupaten Bireuen. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang menekankan keterlibatan aktif seluruh unsur dayah, meliputi santri, guru, dan pengurus. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup observasi partisipatif, wawancara, diskusi kelompok terarah, serta pendampingan dalam pembinaan disiplin belajar dan perilaku santri.Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan kedisiplinan santri secara terstruktur dan berkelanjutan berdampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di Dayah MUDI 2. Disiplin waktu, disiplin belajar, dan disiplin perilaku terbukti mampu menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan yang lebih tertib, kondusif, dan efektif. Santri menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi belajar, tanggung jawab akademik, serta pemahaman terhadap materi keilmuan agama. Selain itu, peran guru dan pengurus dayah sebagai teladan dalam pembinaan disiplin berkontribusi besar dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran internal santri terhadap pentingnya kedisiplinan.Kegiatan ini juga menghasilkan rekomendasi strategis berupa penguatan kapasitas guru dan pengurus, penyusunan pedoman kedisiplinan santri, evaluasi disiplin secara berkala, serta pengembangan program motivasi dan penghargaan. Secara keseluruhan, pengabdian ini menegaskan bahwa kedisiplinan santri bukan hanya instrumen pengendalian perilaku, tetapi merupakan strategi pedagogis yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan pesantren secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of fathers' love affirmations on the social-emotional abilities of early childhood children at Pembina 1 State Kindergarten, Surabaya. The family is the primary environment for children to gain early emotional experiences, where the father's role plays an important role in building emotional closeness and character development. However, the phenomenon of suboptimal father involvement in parenting is still common, resulting in the fulfillment of children's emotional needs, especially through love affirmations, not being fully met. This study aims to determine the effect of fathers' love affirmations on the social-emotional abilities of early childhood children. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The subjects of the study were early childhood children at Pembina 1 State Kindergarten, Surabaya, with data collection techniques using questionnaires given to parents and observation sheets for children's social-emotional development. The data obtained were analyzed using statistical analysis techniques through regression tests to determine the magnitude of the influence of fathers' love affirmations on children's social-emotional abilities. The results showed that fathers' love affirmations have an influence on children's social-emotional abilities, although their contribution is in the low category. These findings suggest that fathers' expressions of affection through affirming words, attention, time spent together, and positive actions continue to play a role in supporting children's social and emotional development, such as the ability to manage emotions, develop self-confidence, and interact with the social environment. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of father involvement in parenting through the consistent application of love affirmations as an effort to optimally support the social and emotional development of early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Mind Mapping method on the understanding of clean and healthy lifestyles in children aged 4-5 years, especially in the aspect of personal hygiene which includes bathing, shampooing, brushing teeth, cleaning the nose, cutting nails, washing hands, cleaning ears, wiping after defecation and urination. The background of this study is based on the condition of understanding of clean and healthy lifestyles in the aspect of personal hygiene that has not developed optimally and is still routine without being based on understanding. This Mind Mapping method is used as a learning strategy to provide knowledge to children about clean and healthy lifestyles through the presentation of main concepts and simple branches, so that children are able to group, connect, and understand various aspects of personal hygiene in a structured manner. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a design (nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest control group design) which was implemented at TK Negeri Pembina 2 Surabaya with two classes, namely class A1 as the experimental group and class A2 as the control group with a total of 15 children in each class. The results of the Mann Whitney U Test showed that in the initial test (Pretest) there was no significant difference between the two groups, whereas after being given Treatment there was a significant difference, where the experimental group experienced an increase in understanding of clean and healthy lifestyle patterns as indicated by the children's ability to recognize, group, and explain aspects of personal hygiene through Mind Mapping. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Mind Mapping method has an effect on understanding clean and healthy lifestyle patterns in children aged 4-5 years..

Abstract

This research aims to analyze improving the ability of 3-4 year old children to recognize emotions. The background of this research is based on the low and underdeveloped ability to recognize emotions in early childhood, which is often caused by limited media and opportunities for direct exploration of emotional recognition thru Flash Cards. The main difference between the Flash Cards for emotional recognition in this study and other Flash Cards lies in the focus of the material and the depth of emotional stimulation. These Flash Cards are specifically designed to develop children's ability to recognize emotions, displaying illustrations of facial expressions and body language that are easily recognizable by young children. The presentation of positive and negative emotional variations helps children understand the diversity of emotions as part of everyday experience. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental design of the Nonequivalent Control Group type, involving an experimental group and a control group, each consisting of 20 children. Data was collected thru observation and documentation and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U Test manually and with the help of SPSS version 26. The research results show that the experimental group receiving treatment thru emotion recognition activities using Flash Cards experienced a more significant improvement compared to the control group in terms of content, process, and context of emotion recognition. The Mann Whitney U Test, conducted manually, showed a significance value, with the smallest U value obtained being U₁ = 1.5. Therefore, the U table value was 13, leading to the conclusion that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The rejection of H₀ indicates that the treatment given to the experimental group influenced the improvement in students' learning outcomes compared to the control group. The average posttest score for the experimental group was 54.69%, which was higher than the control group's average score of 25.62%. This finding indicates that the Flash Card media for recognizing emotions significantly improved the ability of 3-4 year old children to recognize emotions. Therefore, Flash Card media can be considered an effective learning model for stimulating the development of emotional recognition in early childhood.

Abstract

Emotional regulation is an essential ability in early childhood that influences children’s social and psychological development. However, this ability is still developing and is highly dependent on parental support. One factor that may affect children’s emotional regulation is parental burnout, a condition of emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged parenting demands. This study aims to examine the effect of maternal parental burnout on the emotional regulation of children aged 4–6 years. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research was conducted in Gresik, with 400 mothers of children aged 4–6 years as participants. Data were collected using questionnaires, including a parental burnout scale (23 items, score range 0–6) and an emotional regulation scale (15 items, score range 1–4). The instruments were developed based on relevant theoretical dimensions. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression. The results showed that maternal parental burnout has a negative and significant effect on children’s emotional regulation (R = 0.675; R² = 0.456; p < 0.05). This indicates that higher levels of parental burnout are associated with lower emotional regulation in children. Parental burnout contributed 45.6% to the variance in emotional regulation, while 54.4% was influenced by other factors. In conclusion, maternal psychological well-being plays an important role in the development of children’s emotional regulation. It is recommended that parents receive adequate social and psychological support to reduce burnout and optimize children’s emotional development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of kinesthetic learning style on the writing process and outcomes of children aged 4–5 years at TK Ma’arif NU Hasanudin Surabaya. This research employs a qualitative approach with a single instrumental case study. The subject is a 4-year-8-month-old boy (RF). Data were collected through observation, teacher interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with triangulation. The results show that RF’s writing process involves physical activities such as arranging beads into letters, walking along letter patterns on the floor, and using hand gestures to form letters. These activities effectively improve motivation, understanding, and letter retention. RF’s writing ability has developed, particularly in forming straight and curved lines as well as simple letters, although neatness still needs improvement. RF also frequently plays with objects while writing as a strategy to maintain focus. This study concludes that movement-based and experiential learning strategies are highly effective for kinesthetic learners. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to integrate physical activities and concrete media into writing instruction.

Abstract

The savalai hairtail (Lepturacanthus savala) is a commercially valuable demersal species in the coastal ecosystems of Teluk Lampung, where increasing fishing pressure has raised concerns regarding stock sustainability. This study assessed the life history characteristics and exploitation level of the species to support sustainable fisheries management. An overall number of 347 individuals were obtained from fishing port between May and August 2023. Length-frequency data were analyzed utilizing the TropFishR package with the electronic length frequency analysis (ELEFAN) approach. The results showed that the population exhibits relative growth, consistent with tropical fish characteristics. However, fishing mortality significantly exceeded natural mortality, signifying intense fishing efforts on the stock. The utilization rate has exceeded the optimum level, indicating overexploitation, while biological indicators revealed that many individuals were captured prior to attaining adequate reproductive size, posing a threat of recruitment overfishing. These findings demonstrate that the savalai hairtail stock in Teluk Lampung is not sustainable under current exploitation levels. Immediate management actions, including controlling fishing effort, improving gear selectivity, and protecting immature fish, are urgently required to guarantee the long-term viability and stop additional stock depletion of fisheries resources in Teluk Lampung.

Abstract

Graphene is a carbon-based nanomaterial with excellent electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties, making it very promising for various advanced applications. However, conventional graphene synthesis methods generally involve hazardous chemicals and environmentally unfriendly processes. This study investigated the use of tannin extract derived from coffee grounds as a green exfoliating agent for sustainable graphene synthesis via liquid-phase exfoliation. The effects of graphite:tannin ratio, ultrasonication time, and ultrasonication temperature on graphene formation were evaluated using the Response Surface Method (RSM) with Box–Behnken Design. The synthesized graphene was characterized using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and Raman spectroscopy. The UV-Vis response was represented by Absorption Peak Area (APA), while the quality of the graphene layer was evaluated using the Raman I2D/IG ratio. The results showed that lower graphite:tannin ratios generally resulted in better APA and I2D/IG responses, indicating the important role of tannin in exfoliation and dispersion stabilization through π–π stacking interactions. Longer ultrasonication time improved the exfoliation efficiency by maximizing the cavitation intensity. Qualitative observations after 5 days of storage showed that the dispersion with higher tannin concentration exhibited slower sedimentation and reduced re-stacking tendency. RSM optimization showed optimal parameters at a graphite:tannin ratio of 2 mg/mL, an ultrasonication time of 60 min, and an ultrasonication temperature of 54 °C, resulting in a predicted response of 0.009 for APA and 0.548 for I2D/IG

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the cultural communication strategies used by teachers in shaping the characters of cageur, bageur, and pinter among high school students in Cianjur Regency. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method in a public high school that integrates Sundanese cultural values into its character education program. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, school leaders, and students, classroom and school cultural activity observations, and documentation studies of character education programs and policies. The findings indicate that teachers apply cultural communication strategies through role modeling, the use of Sundanese language and local expressions, culturally relevant narratives aligned with students’ lives, and dialogic and participatory communication in the classroom. These strategies are strengthened by school culture and regional policies that emphasize the philosophies of cageur, bageur, pinter, and Pancawaluya. This facilitates the internalization of healthy living, good morals, and holistic intelligence among students. The study concludes that teachers act as cultural communicators and character-building agents who bridge Sundanese local wisdom with the demands of 21st-century education.
