Abstract

Abstract: Speculative darō is a sub category of epistemic modality which discusses about belief or disbelief in the speaker’s attitude towards a certain proposition that is frequently translated as mungkin in Indonesian. This research explains about the function and the meaning of speculative darō and its equivalent in Indonesian based on the theory of Heiko Narrog (2009) and Hasan Alwi (1992). The methods used is distributional method. The result, speculative darō is used to convey the conclusion and belief of the speaker, to express the speaker’s hyphothesis of the subject’s action and situation, to express a yet to be concluded subjective possibility and speculation. The meaning of speculative darō is there in ‘kepastian’ with the prepositional form (saya merasa yakin and saya merasa pasti), and adverb (pasti, tentunya and tentu); ‘keteramalan’ with the prepositional form (menurut pendapat saya and menurut hemat saya), adverb (kelihatannya), main verb (saya pikir); ‘kemungkinan’ with adverb (mungkin, dapat saja, bisa saja, bisa jadi, boleh jadi).Key Words: Speculative Darō, Function and Meaning, Equivalent

Abstract

Abstract: The research describes about the use of the meaning of aspectuality in ~tari suru. The purpose of this research is to know and inform about the meaning of aspectuality in ~tari suru. Aspectuality is associated with the element of time. Aspectuality only reffering to time from the situation ( beginning, the initial progress or at the end of a situation that is nondeictic). In the Japanese language as well, aspectuality as a function semantic category refers to situations when the element internal/external may be disclosed through the disclosure of internal variability iin the morphology and functional context in syntax level. Descriptive method is the method that applied in this research. The writer used the data from Japanese books, there are N3 ‘Nihongo noryoukushiken bunpou mondai taisaku’ by Shigeno Mie :2005, Japanese a Compreherensive Grammar by Kaiser, Stefan. 2001, and A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar by Seiichi Makino & Michio Tsutsui. 1994. Abstract

Abstract: Japanese language has a sentence final particle used as auxiliary word that explain the sentences delivered by speaker includes the opinions, questions and feeling of the speaker to the listener.Japanese language has a variety of shuujoshi like ka, yo, ne, na, zo, ze and so on. This study examines the functions of shuujoshi yo and equivalents in Indonesian. This study aims to describe the function and know the equivalents of shuujoshi yo. This research uses Niji No Shounen Tachi as a source of data which the Niji No Shounen Tachi is a Japanese translation novel translated by Hiroaki Kato from the Indonesian language novel titled Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata. For data collection using the refer method with basic tapping techniques and to explain the function and know the equivalent used translational equivalent method. Based on the results of theanalysis it was found that the function of the shuujoshi yo to deny dissent’s different opinion from oneself, reminding something that the listener forgot and convey something that the listener does not know and realize. From the three functions, it can be concluded that the appearance of shuujoshi yo is based on the assumption that there is a mismatch of information and knowledge between the speaker and the listener. Shuujoshi yo which is used in sentence demands such as commands, prohibitions, requests and socialization are based on the conflict assumption between the speaker and the listener. Shuujoshi yo that appears in Japanese novels is partially paires with the form –lah, -kah, and the most do not have and equivalents in form or word.KeyWords: Shuujoshi, Yo, Equivalent, Function

Abstract

Abstract: An Intonation is one of the most important element that affect the meaning of some sentence. Specifically Darou Intonation, which is the meaning of the word will changed if the intonation is wrong. The goal of this study is to find how a miss pronunciation on intonation of darou. this study is using a descriptive qualitative method. also instrument that used on this study is using speaking test. The respondent that participate on this study are 34 people's from 2018 class of japanese language education study program Riau University. Final result of this study indicating that half of student that participating on speaking test still wrong on the test.Key Words: Darou, Error, Intonation

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research is about English code-mixing in the 1990’s and 2000’sJapanese popular songs lyrics. The question which the study attempts to find answersfor are the following: 1)What is the function of English code-mixing in the 1990’s and2000’s Japanese popular songs lyrics? 2)What is the subject lyrics and song genreeffection the language choice used in the lyrics? This study uses descriptive methodand the applied theory is the English code-mixing function theory of J-pop songlyrics.The result of this study indicates that the main functions of the Englishcode-mixing is intended for prestise and message affirmation conveyed throughrepetition by the singer. Furthermore, it serves to adjust/arrangement of the rhythmtone in the lyrics. Finally it is use to offering alternatives to language use. This studyconcludes the lyrics and genre of the songs have no significant effection the languagechoice used in the lyrics.Keywords: Japanese pop song, code mixing function

Abstract

Abstrack : This study discusses about the translation of greeting word in the novel “Niji No Shounen Tachi” which is translated from the novel of Laskar pelangi. The Purpose of this study is to determine the method of translation and the procedures in translating the greeting words on the novel. The data is the entire word greeting contained in novel translation, and the greeting words between speaker and listener. This research is qualitative descriptive word translation which interpret greeting studied based on the theory of Peter Newmark (1988). The method is not only noted the use of verbal language but also the use of language of writing. After reading the greeting words contained in the novel of Laskar Pelangi, then the researcher look for the same data on novel translation in Niji No Shounen Tachi. After getting the data, the researchers analyze it by using the thoery of translation by Peter Newmark (1988). The result of this research gains from semantic translation method, communicative translation method, literal translation and adaptation. While the procedure of the translation use free modulation, analysis componen, shift, functional equivalent, cultural equivalent, reduction and expansion, and transference.Key Word : Translation, Greeting Word.

Abstract:Keigo is a honorific terms in Japanese language, grammar and the concept of its use is quite complicated so it becomes a challenge for students to master it well.However, the function of the various keigoin Japanese society is very wide, especially in the occupations where there is a relationship between superiors and subordinates.Therefore, as a Japanese language learner, mastering keigo is an important thing.There are two problems of formulations in this study, there are how is the miscomprehension of the forms of Keigo on Juniors (3rd year students) of the Japanese Department of Education (FKIP) Riau University, and Few of Factors that influencing the miscomprehension of the forms of keigo by Juniors of FKIP Riau University.The data of this study were taken from the results of tests and questionnaires from Juniors of Japanese language students.The results of the data are collected, checked, calculated, compiling in the form of tables and compiling frequency and presentation of test answers and questionnaires, then analyzed.Through this research, it is known that the level of ability of Juniors of Japanese language students in the use of keigo is very low.These results are stronglybecause the understanding and mastery of keigo that is not optimal both in terms of grammar and application in daily conversation.The lack of comprehending and rarely usage of the language are ones of the influenced factors that make students forgetting the structures and leading them to miscomprehension.KeyWords:Error Analysis, Japanese Language, Keigo

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study discusses the meaning of Japanese verbs of motion or idoudoushi. The background of this study is the chosen title for sugiru verb and tooru verb often used in Japanese leasson and two verbs that have similar meanings is past, so that confusing its use in a sentence for Japanese learners.The method used in this study is descriptive method. The data is taken from the dictionary Koujien by Izuru, Shinmura (1991). The results of this study indicate that there are differences and similarities between sugiru verb and tooru verb.Keywords: idoudoushi, lexical meaning, meaning expansion

Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses the method of improving peer learning to improve the learning process of dokkai in Japanese Language Education class of 2017 at the University of Riau. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the peer learning method is effective to improve the learning process of dokkai. In this research, researchers used a weak experiment design with evidence of no class as a comparison. The technique of collecting data is done by giving a test. Test results on the pretest and posttest had increased, on the pretest the average test score was 64.75 while the post-test rises to 89. The test results are processed using a statistical test called ‘t-test’ manually to acknowledge how significant the impact in student learning outcomes when using peer learning methods. Based on the processing of statistical test data there is the to = 6.2 and tt = 2.10 (significant level of 5%), if to > tt then H0 is declined and Ha is accepted, which means there is a significant effect on the use of peer learning methods to improve the learning process dokkai on Japanese Language Education class of 2017 at Riau University.Key Words: Peer Learning, Dokkai

Abstract

Abstract: This study is aimed to determine the performance of Japanese language teachers of SMA in Pekanbaru as the implementation ofCurriculum2013 in the process of learning based on the perception of Japanese teachers and the school. Respondents in this study were 7 Japanese language teachers and 4 representatives of the school curriculum. Sampling technique used in this this research was Saturated Sampling. This technique used in order to determine the sample when all members of the population used as the sample. The data were collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. This method was done by processing data and presented through percentage calculation and the answer. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the overall data on the performance of Japanese teachers based on the perception of teachers were in good category (51% -100%), with a percentage of 59.4%. The data obtained about the performance of Japanese teacher of SMA in Pekanbaru as the implementation of Curriculum 2013 in the learning process based on the perception of the school were in good category (51% -100%), with the acquisition of percentage was equal to 68,7%. Further researchers are expected to involve students to be part of this study.Key Words: Curriculum 2013, Teachers’ Perfomance
