Abstract

Abstract: This study focuses on analyzing flouting of conversational principle conversational maxim in anime Back Street Girl’s Gokudolls. This study is aimed to describe types of Grice’s conversational maxims frequently floated in anime Back Street Girl’s Gokudolls to describe the implicature of the floats of the maxims. The writer employs descriptive qualitative approarch to reach and conclude the research findings in this study. In analyze the writer refers to Grice’s cooperative principle theory, and means-ends analysis by Geoffrey Leech. The data was obtained by listening to the conversations spoken by the characters in the anime Back Street Girl's Gokudolls. Then the speech that flouting the maxims and cause implicatures are recorded and marked. The results of this study indicate that the characters in the anime Back Street Girl's Gokudolls flouting the four maxims of cooperation, maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of relevance, and maxim of manner. Of the four maxims, the most flouting are in the maxim manner and the least is the flouting of the maxim of quantity.Key Word: Implicature, Cooperative Principle, Back Street Girl’s Gokudolls, Anime

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine student perceptions of student attitudes in the implementation of dokkai using zoom cloud meetings. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The study population was all students of Japanese Language Education FKIP Riau University Class of 2019 with a research sample of 34 people. The data analysis technique used a 5-point Likert scale. From the results of the research using a questionnaire, it was found that the indicators of student attitudes in the implementation of dokkai categorized as quite positive interpretations because they were at the interval limit of 2.61-3.40. For indicators of student attitudes, there are 5 statement items regarding student ethics, when student lectures come on, a conducive learning environment, students prepare before lectures, and student responses when the lecturer asks.Key Word: Perception, Student Attitude, Dokkai Learning

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to create and develop basic Japanese vocabulary learning media that can be used for independent learning. The learning media combines various kinds of design objects, namely text, images, animations, audio, video, and interactive buttons. Besides, the study also aims to determine the feasibility of this learning media. The study was conducted in the XI IPS Class of SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru and the XI IPS Class of SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru. This research was carried out by employing the ADDIE approach. The research object is learning media in the form of android applications. The research phases include (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation. A questionnaire was used as a data collection technique that is analyzed descriptively. The study population consists of all students in the XI IPS Class of SMA Negeri 4 Pekanbaru and the XI IPS Class of SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru for the 2021-2022 academic year, with a sample of 25 students from each school. The study resulted in a learning media in the form of an android-based application for Japanese language learning. The assessment scores of feasibilities indicated that: (1) assessment of the material expert was “4.81” with very feasible category, (2) assessment of the media expert was “4” with feasible category, and (3) assessment of the response of students was “4.26” with a percentage of “86.1%”; hence it can be categorized as feasible. This study was conducted using a limited size sample. Conclusion: Android-based learning media for basic Japanese vocabulary is feasible to use in independent learning with some suggestions for future studies.Key Words : Japanese language learning Media, android based application.

Abstract

     Onomatopoeia is the designation for sound replicas. The study was intended to describe the characteristics of onomatopoeia and their meanings found in comics. The study focused on onomatopoeia types that showed the sound of inanimate objects, particularly collisions. The thumping group may be grouped into 8, which is 1) blows, shots, and kicks 2) strikes, 3) slaps, 4) slaps, 5) slaps, 6) crashes of objects with hard objects, 7) crashes of objects falling, and 8) objects suddenly collide. Data in this study is the thump taken from the comic kimetsu no yaiba vol 1-3. The theory used in this study is onomatope theory according to Akimoto (2002). Analysis of 51 data shows that there are 7 types of collisions in the comic Kimetsu no Yaiba vol 1-3. Onomatope found in the comic book is primarily 'loud and heavy' and 'sudden occurrences’.

Abstract

Intonation is one of the most important elements that affect the meaning of some sentences. Specifically, Darou Intonation, which is the meaning of the word will change if the intonation is wrong. The goal of this study is to find how a miss pronunciation of the intonation of the Japanese word Darou. this study is using a descriptive qualitative method. Also, an instrument used in this study is using the speaking test. The participants in this study are 34 people from the 2018 class of the Japanese language education program at Riau University. The final result of this study indicates that half of the students that participated in the speaking test were still wrong on the test.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative research method regarding the assessment of Doraemon no Uta as an opening song of Doraemon animation. The purpose of the study is to explain how to objectively assess the translation of Doraemon no Uta song from Doraemon animation and find out how well the translations of the song is based on Newmark's assessment. According to Newmark, the assessment of translation is divided into four criterias, including: 1) translation as a science; 2) translation as a craft; 3) translation as art; and translation as taste. The lyrics of the song Doraemon no Uta in the source language (SL) and target language (TL) are collected in a table, then the score is determined for each criterion. The scores are sum up and the total is divided by the number of lyrics which is assessed. It was found that the translation category for the song Doraemon no Uta’s translation’s score is 79.28, which went to the translation category A (very good).

Abstract

Abstract: This study used a qualitative descriptive method regarding two PowerPoint media designs made by PLP students at the Riau University Japanese Language Education study program which aims to explain the use of these Powerpoint media. This research is based on Richard E Mayer's theory of multimedia learning principles which are divided into seven principles: multimedia principles; the principle of spatial proximity; the principle of time proximity, the principle of coherence, modality principle, redundancy principle, and the principle of individual differences. Based on the analysis of the Powerpoint designs studied, the first data does not meet all the principles of multimedia learning because the design is only dominated by words without related images. Meanwhile, the second powerpoint media has included media elements such as words accompanied by related images, there is the addition of audio or text that is narrated. However, the design does not utilize elements of animation that can help in constructing knowledge.Key Words: Multimedia, Powerpoint, Design

Abstract: This study discusses the meaning of epistemic modality. The purpose of this study is to explain the meaning of modality osore ga aru. The data is a corpus taken from the website ejje.weblio.jp. This is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data analysis used the distribution method and the immediate constituent. It has been found that osore ga aru can include the meaning of 'possibility' which serves to express conjecture concerns or fears based on the speaker's conclusion, express conjecture concerns or fears based on the speaker's beliefs, express conjecture concerns or fears from a situation and conclude it, express conjecture concerns or the speaker's fear of the subject's actions.Key Words: Epistemic Modality, Meaning, Possibility

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to see the relationship between reading interest and writing ability at students class 2019 of Japanese Language Education Study Program Universitas Riau. The sample in the research consisted of 26 respondents who were the entire population. The instruments in this research were a reading interest questionnaire and a student's writing ability test. The next data is based on the next prerequisite for normality and homogeneity, and hypothesis testing is carried out. From the results of hypothesis testing obtained a significance value of 0.158 > 0.05. On that basis of the Ho hypothesis is accepted and the Ha hypothesis is rejected, which means that there is no significant relationship between reading interest and writing ability at studdent class 2019 of students Japanese Language Education Study Program, Universitas Riau.Key Words: Reading, Reading Interest, Writing Ability

Abstract

Abstract: One things that often happens to foreign language learners, is always bring their nature of the mother tongue to the second language they use, especially when speaking in a foreign language. In Japanese language there are loanwords that come from foreign languages, this loanword has been adapted to suit Japanese sounds and accent. Japanese language is a pitch accent language, the meaning of each word depends on the shape of accent pattern, as well as the phonetics. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing what phonetics and accent that learner use when pronounced gairaigo word. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, words spoken by 15 students of Japanese Language from Riau University. This study focuses on the pronunciation of loanwords from English, analyzed using a PRAAT device. The results is that students tend not to pronounce gairaigo word with Japanese sounds and accent. On phonetics, it is known that students tend not to pronounce words with the appropriate number of mora, not to pronounce obstructed nasal consonants [N], long vowels(cho’on), and consonant clusters (saku’on).
