Abstract

Abstract: The study focuses on analyzing the floats of Grice’s conversational maxim in choukai training applications namely JLPT N3 Listening. This study is aimed (1)to describe types of Grice’s conversational maxims are frequently floated in choukai training applications (2) to describe the implicature of the floats of the maxims. The writer employs descriptive qualitative approarch to reach and conclude the research findings in this study. In analyze the writer refers to Grice’s cooperative principle theory and the theory of means-ends analysis by Geoffrey Leech. Based on 16 data analyzed in this study obtained from choukai training applications, the writer finds that 3 of the data float maxim of quantity, 0 of data float maxim of quanlity, 7 of the data float maxim of relevance, and 6 of the data float maxim of manner. It is generally known that the purpose of floats the cooperation principle is to maintain courtesy in conversation.Key Words: Implicature, Cooperative Principle, Maxim

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: This research discusses the analysis of errors in the use of auxiliary verbs conducted by students of 2015 and 2016 of the Japanese Language Education Department, Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education, Riau University. The purpose of this research is to find out what mistakes made by students of 2015 and 2016 of the Japanese Language Education Department, Riau University, in the use of -te iru in Japanese sentences and what factors cause errors. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method types. Data was obtained from the distribution of test questions and questionnaires to 30 respondents, which is 15 students from 2015 and 15 students from 2016. The results showed that the percentage of student errors in the use of –te iru was classified as quite high, amounting to 52.19%. Factors causing errors in the use of –te iru are students difficulty in understanding the use of –te iru because it is difficult to match them into native language, students only know the use of –te iru sentence patterns to express the meaning of ongoing activities, students rarely use the – te iru sentence pattern, and there are many functions and meanings that must be known so that most students are still confused in using –te iru sentence patterns such as distinguishing meanings, functions, and also having difficulty in translating.Key Words: Error analysis, te iru

Abstract

Abstract: This study describes and explains the application of Story Photo media in Sakubun I Learning Based on the Japan Foundation Standard Can-Do A1 in the Japanese language education students of FKIP Riau University. The purpose of this study was to determine empirically the presence or absence of the influence of the use of Story Photo media on the first sakubun learning based on JF Standard Can-do A1 and to find out whether there were significant differences in the learning outcomes of Level I students after using Story Photo media in Sakubun learning. In this study the authors used weak experimental or weak experiments. This study did not use a comparison group, so it was only carried out in the same class. The test results were processed using SPSS Version 16. The test results in the pretest and posttest of the experimental class had increased, the average pretest score of students was 10.42 while the posttest was 18.39. Thus, the Essay Photo media is effective in improving the learning outcomes of 2018 FKIP Japanese language education students.Key Words: Photo Essay Media, Japan Foundation Standard, Can-Do A1

Abstract

Abstract: The topic discussed in the paper is about the type of declarative illocutionary speech acts based on theories from Searle (1969) and Leech (1993) that found in drama Beautiful Rain. This research attempts to describe kinds of Japanese language declarative illocutionary speech act drama Beautiful Rain and describe the characteristic of declarative illocutionary speech act. The kind of this research is qualitative descriptive research and to find description of character’s speech in drama Beautiful Rain. The method of collecting the data used in this research is uninvolved conversation observation technique. Those method used to find the complete data of declarative illocutionary speech act. The result of this research finds 48 speech consist thing eight kind declarative illocutionary speech act: 14 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘decision’, 8 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘validity’, 4 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘naming’, 5 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘canceling’, 8 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘prohibitive’, 2 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘forgiving’, 3 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘helping’, and 4 declarative illocutionary speech act ‘permitting’. The analysis also find the specific characteristic of declarative illocutionary speech act: performative declarative speech, physical a declarative speech, and each declarative speech has the significant meaning based on the context.Key Words: Japanese Language Declarative Illocutionary Speech Act, Type of DeclarativeIllocutionary, Pragmatic Meaning

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the equivalence of irai modalities in Japanese One Piece comics and Indonesian One Piece comics. The purpose of this research is to explore the correspondence form and equivalent meaning of irai modality in One Piece comic. This study uses the Newmark (1988) translation procedure as a reference to identify the translation techniques that is being used. The classification of Indonesian modalities by Alwi (1992) is used to reference Indonesian modalities while for irregular modalities the irrigation classifications are used by Nitta. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis method. The data used came from Japanese One Piece comics volumes 1,2,3 and 4. It has been found that there were 51 forms of irai modality in total. Those forms are ~ shite, ~ te kure, ~ te kudasai, ~ te hoshii, ~ te kureruka, and ~ te kurenaika. Based on the data, the modality markers of the form of te te, shite, kudasai, kureruka and kurenaika have the meaning of requests to do, whereas the markers of form te te hoshi have the meaning of a statement of desire.Key Words: Translation, Modality, Comic, Equivalent Meaning

Abstract

Absrtact: This study examines the use of Aizuchi in the Ichigo Marshmallow anime. The formulation of the problem analyzed includes the functions and types of aizuchi used in conversations in the Ichigo Marshmallow anime, and examines the equivalence of aizuchi translation in Marshmallow anime. The translation methods used for this research are free translation methods and adaptation translation methods. The results found from the research are after watching the anime Ichigo Marshmallow episodes 1-5, there are 93 words of aizuchi. The most common form of aizuchi is 86 words aizuchishi, and the most functions found are hearing or kiite iru to iu shingou as many as 53 words. The translation methods used by translators are free translation methods and adaptation translation methods. Translators use both methods because both methods produce the translation that is most equivalent to Indonesian. The most frequently occurring translation procedures are the equivalency procedure, the borrowing procedure, and the transposition procedure.Key Words: Aizuchi, Sentence Conversation, the equivalence of translation

Abstract

Abstract: This research is a study of the expansion of the meaning of kanji which has bushu æ—¥(hi). This study aims to facilitate the classification of the kanji based on the form of the expansion of the meaning. This research using descriptive method by describe the origin of kanji and expansion of meaning in the kanji that has bushu æ—¥(hi). this study using the rikusho theory to determmine the origin of each kanji, then determine how the shape of the expansion that occors in each kanji. Based on the rikusho theory and determination of the expansion of meaning, the writer concloudes that the kanji that has bushuæ—¥(hi) generally expansion of meaning to belong the category of meaning expansion from concrete to abstract.Keywords: Expansion of Meaning, Kanji, Bushu, Rikusho, Hi

Abstract

Abstract: This study discusses the types and analysis of figure of thought meanings contained in the lyrics of anime Soundtrack Kimi no Nawa. This study aims to identify the type of figure of speech and analyze the meaning in the lyrics of the song. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method using the Cognitive Linguistics approach proposed by Lakoff and Johnson. It is found that there are conceptual metaphor, orientational metaphor, ontological metaphor, channel metaphor, simile, part and whole metonymy, causal metonymy, and synecdoche. These figures of thought have meanings related to psychology, expression of feelings, time, events and activity, life, description of objects, distance and space, possession, memory, atmosphere/condition.Key Words : Figure of thought, Song lyrics, Anime Kimi no Nawa, Meaning
