This research used a quasi-experimental research design. The research population was the grade eight students of SMP Negeri 16 Palu which consisted of 112 students. The sample was selected by using a purposive sampling technique. The number of the sample was 22 students of class VIII A as the experimental group and 22 students of class VIII E as the control group. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test about reading. The students were assigned some tasks consisting of 10 multiple-choices and 5 essay questions. The result of this research showed the mean deviation score of the experimental group was 89.45 and 79.27 for the control group. Therefore, the t-counted value (6.43) is higher than the t-table value (2,018). It is proved that the hypothesis is accepted in which there is development of the students after getting the treatment. It means that the use of Authentic Materials can improve students Reading comprehension. The implication of this finding is that the teachers need to use authentic material as the media in teaching reading.

Scaffolding is a teaching method in which teachers provide structured, temporary support to help students develop independent learning skills gradually. In the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), scaffolding is particularly useful in vocabulary acquisition, especially for young learners who are still building basic language skills. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of the scaffolding method in increasing students’ vocabulary size at MTs Muhammadiyah Al-Haq Palu. Students in grade VIII participated in this research. Two classes were identified as the control and experimental classes in this quasi-experimental research design. The researcher used a pretest and a posttest to collect data. Subsequently, SPSS version 23 was used to analyze the collected data. The result shows that the posttest mean score for students in the experimental class (78.22) was higher than the mean score in the control class (59.56). Furthermore, based on the result of the independence sample t-test, the sig (2 tailed) value (0.001) was lower than 0.05. It indicated that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the scaffolding method can increase the vocabulary size of grade VIII students at MTs Muhammadiyah Al-Haq Palu.

This study aims to find out whether the Audio-lingual method is effective in improving students' pronunciation, particularly in word stress, among tenth-grade students of SMA Bala Keselamatan Palu. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving 54 students, divided into an experimental group (n=25) and a control group (n=29) through total sampling technique. The experimental group was taught using the audio-lingual method, while the control group followed conventional methods. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests, and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher mean post-test score (75.44) compared to the control group (61.69). Statistical analysis using SPSS version 26 showed a significance value (Asymp. Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. These results indicate that the Audio-Lingual Method is effective in improving students' pronunciation, specifically in mastering word stress in English.

This study utilized designing quasi-experimental, dividing participants into an experiment group and a control group. The technique of purposive sampling was employed to decide the sample, comprising 36 students from the experimental group and 35 pupils from the control group. Gathering of data involved pre-test and post-test assessments, with analysis conducted utilizing paired sample t-tests with the support of SPSS v.29 for windows. The findings indicated that applying of the POSSE approach effectively enhanced the understanding of reading among tenth-grade students attending SMAN 7 PALU. This conclusion was substantiated by the results of conducting the paired sample t-test, which showed a statistically notable disparity (2-tailed=0.001<0.05) in the students’ learning outcomes between the initial assessment and subsequent assessment.
