Abstract

Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian maltodekstrin sebanyak 4x18 g dalam 4x300 mL minuman elektrolit meningkatkan daya tahan jantung-paru atlet sepak bola selama latihan.ABSTRACTThe Effect of Additional Maltodextrin in Electrolyte Drinks to Cardiorespiratory Endurance in Soccer Athletes During ExerciseMaximum exercise, hydration status, and proper nutrition intake could improve the cardiorespiratory endurance. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of additional maltodextrin in the electrolyte drinks to cardiorespiratory endurance among soccer athletes during exercise. This quasi-experimental study used a crossover design on 17 soccer athletes of Central Java PPLP in 2015. The study had been  done during six weeks periods, during the exercise athletes were given 4x300 mL drink at 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes continued with cardiorespiratory endurance test. The control group was given only an electrolyte drink whereas the treatment group was given an electrolyte drink plus 18 gram maltodextrin. Measurements included body weight, body height, BMI, body fat percetage, BMR, minerals and macro nutrient intake, and cardiorespiratory endurance. The result showed that cardiorespiratory endurance of soccer athletes after giving maltodextrin increase significantly (51.0 + 3.16 to 51.6 + 3.28 mL/kg BW/min) (p=0.001). The result  showed that increasing of the cardiorespiratory endurance in treatment group (0.6 + 0.80 mL/kg BW/min) is significantly higher than control group (0.2 + 0.15 mL/ kg BW/min) with p=0.02. BMI, fat mass percentage, BMR, minerals and macro nutrient intakes have no correlation with cardiorespiratory endurance. It can be concluded that the giving maltodextrin as much as 4x18 g in 4x300 mL electrolyte drinks increased the cardiorespiratory endurance of soccer athletes during exercise. Keyword: maltodextrin, cardiorespiratory endurance, soccer athletes, electrolyte drink

Abstract

Early marriage, defined as formal or informal marriage before the age of 18, occurs widely throughout the world. Early marriage has a direct impact on girls' education, sexual and reproductive health, and psychological well-being. In this regard, the current review is conducted to examine the sexual and reproductive health consequences of child marriage. This research uses library research methods or literature research. Literature research is a systematic activity that involves various stages of collecting, processing, and summarizing data using certain methods to find solutions to problems. Early marriage as a result of poverty has many adverse consequences on girls' sexual and reproductive health including death in childbirth, physical and sexual violence, isolation, depression, cervical cancer and risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Teenage pregnant women have a higher risk of premature birth and more neonatal death than other women. Marriage of girls at an early age can increase the risk of sexual and reproductive complications. Therefore, training programs should be implemented to raise awareness of the community, parents, and religious leaders, to empower girls in this regard.

Abstract

Background: The benefits of exercise during pregnancy have been reported to be higher than its negative side effects. A reduction in low birth weight, a decrease in heart rate abnormalities of the baby and a decrease in excessive bleeding after 24 hours of labor are among those positive outcomes of the exercise during pregnancy. Aims: This study was meant to determine the effects of exercise during pregnancy Methods: This research was an explanatory research using cross sectional design. The research respondents were 42 mothers who was admitted to give birthinHermina Hospital. Twenty-one mothers who practiced twice a week of a combined yoga, pilates, hypnotherapy, and tai chi were recruited as a case group in this study. Mean while, 21 mothers who did not practice exercise during pregnancy were requested to participate in the control group of this study. The infants’ birth weight was weighed immediately after birth with the baby scales, and the mothers’ post-partum hemorrhage (PPH) were measured by the need bandages and blood ejected through similar toilet ≥ 500 ml. A statisticaltest used is the T-Test IndependentandMann-Whitney. Results: The results showed that the postpartum hemorrhage occurrence was less among respondents who practiced a regular exercise during pregnancy than who did not. However, there was no evidence of statistically difference between the two groups. The average of birth weight babies born to mothers who practiced a regular exercise during pregnancy was 3,418 ± 215 grams or greater as compared (2643 ± 180 grams). It showed a significant difference in birth weight between mothers who did exercise during pregnancy than mothers from other group (p = 0.001). Conclusion: In conclusion, the exercise during pregnancy has a positive impact on the birth weight of the babies. Thus, the authors suggest to all maternal and child health service providers to plan a pregnancy exercise program.
