Abstract

Abstract Salinity stress is one of the environmental factors that can affect the growth and development of oil palm, particularly during the nursery stage. This study aimed to evaluate the morphological responses of oil palm (*Elaeis guineensis* Jacq.) seedlings of the Socfindo DxP Yangambi (Y) variety to different salinity levels during the *pre nursery* stage. The experiment was conducted in the greenhouse and laboratory of the Indonesian Oil Palm Institute of Technology (ITSI), Medan, using a Randomized Block Design with one factor consisting of three salinity treatments, namely S0 (0 mmhos), S1 (5–6 mmhos), and S2 (6–7 mmhos), with three replications. The observed parameters included plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, chlorophyll content, root volume, shoot volume, root length, shoot length, root fresh weight, shoot fresh weight, root dry weight, and shoot dry weight. The results showed that salinity treatment had no significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, chlorophyll content, shoot volume, root length, shoot length, root fresh weight, shoot fresh weight, root dry weight, and shoot dry weight. However, salinity significantly affected root volume, with the highest value obtained under the S1 treatment (5–6 mmhos), reaching 0.67 cm³. The results indicate that oil palm seedlings of the Socfindo DxP Yangambi (Y) variety possess good adaptability to salinity stress up to 7 mmhos during the *pre nursery* stage.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of income and motivation on the performance of harvesters at the Marpinggan Palm Oil Plantation PTPN IV Afdeling V. The research was conducted from January to June 2026 with 27 harvester respondents selected using the census method. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 23. The research results show that income and motivation have a positive and significant effect on harvester performance. The regression equation obtained is Y = 8.857 + 0.383X₁ + 0.427X₂. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.427 shows that 42.7% of the variation in harvester performance can be explained by income and motivation, while 57.3% is influenced by other factors outside the study. Motivation is the most dominant variable affecting harvester performance.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a strategy to increase the productivity of oil palm plantations at PT PP London Sumatera Bagerpang Estate. The study was conducted from November 2025 to April 2026 using a qualitative descriptive method supported by a SWOT analysis. Data collection was conducted through field observations, interviews with plantation management and employees, and secondary data in the form of production data, plant population, fertilization, pest and disease control, and harvest reports. Data analysis was carried out by identifying internal and external factors using a SWOT matrix. The results showed that the actual productivity of oil palm plantations in 2025 decreased by 2.02 tons/ha . The main strength factors consisted of the application of rorak and mounding (score 0.84), the availability of heavy equipment (0.48), and accurate plantation administration (0.23). Weakness factors included low Stand Per Hectare (SPH) (0.49), minimal technical supervision (0.39), and inadequate water gate conditions (0.34). Meanwhile, the main opportunities come from the availability of local labor (0.90) and the proximity of the area to water sources (0.49). The results of the SWOT analysis place the company in Quadrant IV (defensive strategy) , so the recommended strategy is to maintain SPH through mounding activities, rorak construction , water gate repair , optimization of mechanical maintenance, and community involvement in garden maintenance activities. The implementation of this strategy is projected to increase average productivity from 14.99 tons/ha to 20.58 tons/ha , or an increase of 4.20 tons/ha .

Abstract

Kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) merupakan salah satu komoditas perkebunan penting penghasil minyak nabati yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi dan permintaan pasar yang terus meningkat. Namun produktivitas kelapa sawit sering terkendala oleh adanya gangguan hama dan penyakit, salah satunya kumbang tanduk (Oryctes rhinoceros) yang menjadi hama utama pada tanaman kelapa sawit muda. Serangan hama ini dapat menyebabkan kerusakan serius pada titik tumbuh, menghambat proses fotosintesis, menurunkan hasil panen, memperpanjang masa tanaman belum menghasilkan, bahkan menyebabkan kematian tanaman. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pengendalian hama dengan pemasangan perangkap feromon (ferotrap) di Desa Baja Dolok, Kecamatan Sipispis, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui wawancara, observasi langsung, serta sosialisasi bersama petani dan perangkat desa, dengan tujuan memberikan alternatif solusi pengendalian hama yang lebih efektif, ramah lingkungan, dan hemat biaya. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan perangkap feromon mampu menurunkan populasi kumbang tanduk secara signifikan dan mendapat respon positif dari masyarakat. Selain itu, partisipasi aktif petani sangat mendukung keberhasilan program, meskipun efektivitas ferotrap tetap dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan seperti curah hujan dan kelembaban. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini terbukti memberikan manfaat nyata bagi petani serta meningkatkan pengetahuan mereka mengenai teknik pengendalian hama terpadu yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Rotasi panen adalah putaran panen antara panen terakhir dengan panen selanjutnya di tempat yang sama. Rotasi panen 6/7 berarti dalam interval 7 hari ada 6 hari panen dan rotasi 8/10 berarti dalam interval 10 hari ada 8 hari panen. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan rotasi panen 6/7 dan 8/10 terhadap produksi, prestasi pemanen, komposisi berondolan, serta premi pemanen dan premi berondolan. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisa deskriptif yaitu dengan pengumpulan data primer dan sekunder di lokasi kebun. rotasi panen akan mengalami perbedaan produksi antara rotasi 6/7 dan 8/10 sedangkan untuk komposisi berondolan akan berpengaruh terhadap perbedaan rotasi panen. persentase produksi dan presentase komposisi berondolan tertinggi berada pada rotasi 6/7 sedangkan untuk total produksi dan komposisi berondolan tertinggi berada pada rotasi 8/10.

Abstract

Gulma dapat berkompetisi dengan tanaman pokok dalam memperoleh air, unsur hara, cahaya, maupun CO2. Selain itu, gulma dapat berperan sebagai tanaman inang bagi hama dan penyakit. Berdasarkan hal ini maka di lakukan penelitian respon pertumbuhan gulma teki (Cyperus rotundus) akibat pemberian alelopati ekstrak daun mangga kweni (Mangifera Odorata Griff). Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah mengetahui konsentrasi, jenis daun mangga kwenis, dan kombinasi terbaik dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma teki (Cyperus rotundus). Penelitian dilakukan di lahan penelitian kampus Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pertanian Agrobisnis Perkebunan (STIPAP) Medan. Waktu penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juli sampai dengan Agustus 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) 2 faktor, yaitu faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi bioherbisida yang terdiri dari K0(0%), K1(20%), K2(40%), dan K3 (60%), faktor kedua adalah jenis daun mangga kweni (Mangifera odorata Griff) yang terdiri dari S1(daun segar) dan S2(daun kering), dengan menggunakan 3 ulangan . Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi gulma(cm), panjang akar(cm), berat basah(gr) dan berat kering(gr). Pengujian parameter disusun pada daftar sidik ragam dan dilakukan uji Beda Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) dengan taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut, bahwa pada perlakuan konsentrasi 60% yang terbaik untuk menekan pertumbuhan gulma teki (Cyperus rotundus). Jenis daun mangga kweni (Mangifera odorata Griff) terbaik dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma adalah jenis daun kering. Kombinasi terbaik dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma adalah dengan konsentrasi 60% alelopati ekstrak daun mangga kweni kering

Abstract

Salinity is an important constraint in oil palm nurseries because it may limit seedling growth and reduce the potential use of marginal land or growing media. This study evaluated the morphological and biomass responses of five oil palm varieties to salinity in early nursery and identified practical variables for early selection under saline conditions. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse using a factorial randomized complete block design with five varieties, three salinity levels, and three replications. The observed variables were stem diameter, number of leaves, canopy length, root length, shoot fresh weight, root fresh weight, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and root-shoot ratio. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. Varietal effects were significant for all observed variables, whereas salinity as a single factor was not significant within the tested range. However, the interaction between variety and salinity significantly affected most variables, indicating that seedling responses to salinity depended on varietal background. DxP Socfindo Yangambi and DxP Socfindo Lame showed the best performance under saline conditions, particularly at 6-7 mmhos cm-1, as reflected in canopy growth, root elongation, and biomass accumulation. In contrast, DxP Simalungun showed the weakest response across most variables. Canopy length, root length, shoot dry weight, and root dry weight were the most informative variables for early selection of oil palm seedlings under saline conditions.

Abstract

The population of the oil palm pollinating beetle, Elaeidobius kamerunicus Faust, is an important biological indicator for assessing the adequacy of pollination and fruit set formation in oil palm plantations. This study aimed to measure the population and sex ratio of E. kamerunicus on male oil palm flowers in the anthesis phase from two planting years, namely 2013 and 2016. The study was conducted at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional II, Afdeling VI, located in Dolok Batu Nanggar Subdistrict, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province. The study took place from June to September 2023. It employed a survey method, and no experimental treatments were applied. Data analysis utilized descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) as well as Welch’s t-test to compare the two planting years. The results showed that the 2016 growing season had a slightly higher number of male inflorescences per observation plot, while the 2013 growing season had a significantly higher number of grains per panicle and a significantly higher estimated population of E. kamerunicus. The average population in the 2013 growing season reached 29,017.69 adult individuals ha?¹, whereas in the 2016 growing season, the average was 19,098.41 adult individuals ha?¹ and slightly below the commonly used minimum threshold of approximately 20,000 adult individuals ha?¹. The sex ratio was dominated by females in both growing seasons, with no significant difference between them.

Abstract

Kelapa sawit merupakan komoditas perkebunan strategis yang berperan penting dalam mendukung perekonomian masyarakat pedesaan, termasuk di Desa Aek Raso, Kecamatan Torgamba, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Selatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan pendapatan usahatani petani kelapa sawit swadaya dan petani plasma. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik purposive sampling yang melibatkan 50 responden, terdiri atas 25 petani swadaya dan 25 petani plasma, masing-masing memiliki luas lahan 2 hektare. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis pendapatan (π = TR − TC) dan uji Independent Sample t-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata pendapatan tahunan petani plasma lebih tinggi dibandingkan petani swadaya. Analisis statistik juga menunjukkan adanya perbedaan pendapatan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok petani. Pendapatan petani plasma yang lebih tinggi dipengaruhi oleh akses yang lebih baik terhadap pembinaan teknis, sarana produksi, serta kepastian harga tandan buah segar (TBS) melalui skema kemitraan inti-plasma. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model kemitraan memberikan manfaat ekonomi dan berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan petani melalui peningkatan pendapatan usahatani.

Abstract

Kesenjangan antara pemahaman teoritis dan keterampilan praktis mahasiswa dalam bidang proteksi tanaman menjadi tantangan dalam menghadapi kebutuhan industri perkebunan kelapa sawit di era Society 5.0. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan metode pembelajaran yang mampu memberikan pengalaman langsung di lapangan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan praktis dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa melalui pembelajaran berbasis kunjungan lapangan di Kebun Sei Meranti, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir, Provinsi Riau. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui kegiatan kunjungan lapangan yang melibatkan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, serta praktik langsung mahasiswa dalam pengelolaan hama, penggunaan alat aplikasi pestisida, dan proses panen kelapa sawit. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memperoleh peningkatan pemahaman yang lebih komprehensif terkait kondisi nyata di lapangan serta peningkatan keterampilan praktis dalam penggunaan alat dan penerapan prosedur kerja. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga mampu mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa, seperti pemecahan masalah, berpikir kritis, keterampilan investigasi, dan pengambilan keputusan. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran berbasis kunjungan lapangan menjadi metode yang efektif dalam menjembatani kesenjangan antara teori dan praktik serta mendukung kesiapan mahasiswa dalam menghadapi tuntutan industri perkebunan kelapa sawit di era Society 5.0.
