Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and improve the efficiency of the motor vehicle insurance claim process at PT Asuransi Jasaraharja Putera (JRP) through the implementation of Lean Management using Value Stream Mapping (VSM). Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and analysis of claim documentation from 2021 to 2024. The Current State Map revealed that the average claim completion time was 86 days, significantly exceeding the company’s Service Level Agreement (SLA) of 14 working days. By applying seven VSM tools such as Process Activity Mapping (PAM), Quality Filter Mapping (QFM), and Decision Point Analysis (DPA), the study found that 46% of total activities were non-value-added (NVA). Major inefficiencies were identified in redundant data entry, prolonged approval processes, and manual document handling. The redesigned Future State Map proposes digital process integration and automation to eliminate waste and reduce cycle time. A Fishbone analysis identified six key sources of inefficiency related to human factors, methods, machines, materials, environment, and measurement. The optimized process is projected to reduce claim processing time by approximately 40% and improve customer satisfaction. Overall, this research highlights the novelty of applying VSM for digital process optimization in Indonesia’s insurance industry, demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing operational efficiency and supporting digital transformation.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the startup ecosystem in Indonesia presents substantial opportunities as well as significant challenges for startup founders, particularly in maintaining their subjective well-being. This study aims to examine the effect of spiritual capital on the subjective well-being of startup founders in Surabaya, Indonesia, with innovative work behavior as a mediating variable. This study adopts a quantitative research design using survey data collected from 107 startup founders through a structured questionnaire. The sampling technique employed was convenience sampling. This study employs a reflective measurement model for all latent constructs within the PLS-SEM framework. The findings reveal that spiritual capital has a positive and significant effect on the subjective well-being of startup founders. Furthermore, innovative work behavior partially mediates the relationship between spiritual capital and subjective well-being. These results indicate that spiritual capital not only directly enhances subjective well-being but also indirectly contributes through the promotion of innovative behaviors among startup founders.

Abstract

The Israeli–Palestinian conflict represents a major geopolitical event that can trigger uncertainty and volatility in global financial markets. This study investigates the impact of the conflict on investor sentiment and stock returns by comparing the stability of sharia and conventional stock markets in five Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines). Using an event study approach with a 101-day event window surrounding October 7, 2023, this study examines abnormal returns before and after the conflict escalation. The findings reveal that conventional stock markets exhibit more frequent significant abnormal returns, indicating higher sensitivity to geopolitical shocks, whereas sharia stock markets demonstrate greater stability with fewer significant reactions. Furthermore, while no significant difference in abnormal returns is found in conventional markets before and after the event, sharia markets show a significant difference, suggesting a more controlled but responsive reaction to new information. These results extend the risk-as-feelings theory by showing that emotional responses to geopolitical uncertainty are more contained within sharia-compliant investment frameworks. The study contributes to the literature by providing comparative evidence from Southeast Asia and offers practical insights for investors seeking more resilient investment strategies during periods of geopolitical instability.

Abstract

This study examines the dual role of job satisfaction as both a mediating and moderating variable in the relationship between transformational leadership and turnover intention among employees in the business unit of the Sunan Drajat Islamic Boarding School in Lamongan. Adopting an explanatory research design, the study collected data from 93 employees through structured questionnaires and analyzed the results using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings reveal that job satisfaction significantly mediates the effect of transformational leadership on turnover intention, indicating that transformational leadership can indirectly reduce employees’ desire to leave by enhancing job satisfaction. However, job satisfaction does not significantly moderate this relationship. Conducted within the context of a pesantren, the study suggests that transformational leadership, potentially reflecting Islamic leadership values such as siddiq (truthfulness), fathanah (wisdom), amanah (trustworthiness), and tabligh (communication), can foster job satisfaction and employee retention. Theoretically, this research contributes to the understanding of leadership dynamics in Islamic institutional management, emphasizing the importance of integrating spiritual and ethical dimensions into organizational practices. Practically, this study suggests that Islamic educational institutions should cultivate transformational leadership that embodies Islamic values to enhance employee job satisfaction and ultimately reduce turnover intentions.
