Abstract

A Gravitational Vortex Water Turbine (GWVT) is an appropriate device to harness the kinetic energy of water to convert it into rotational mechanical energy in low-head. The water flow is directed into a circular basin, which can produce a vortex and can rotate the turbine blades. Turbine performance is influenced by the shape of the blade, so an optimal blade shape is required. Turbine performance is influenced by the shape of the blades, which can rotate optimally. This study aims to determine the effect of adding baffle plates in the blade on the performance of two-stage GWVT using experimental methods. The variation used is the proportion of baffle plate on the runner in the first stage with variations without baffle plate, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The data taken in the test is the torque and rotation at each additional blade plate. Torque measurement uses a rope brake system, and rotation measurement uses a tachometer. The results of the study showed that the addition of a 50% baffle plate in the first stage can capture the energy of the water vortex more optimally. Abstract

Lahan pekarangan disekitar rumah memiliki potensi besar dalam membantu mencukupi beberapa kebutuhan pemiliknya seperti kebutuhan pangan dan penambah penghasilan. Contohnya adalah pemanfaatan sebagai lahan tanam sayuran atau buah-buahan. Potensi lahan pekarangan ini belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal oleh Kelompok Tani Mulyo 1 Desa Gentungan, Kecamatan Mojogedang, Kabupaten Karanganyar. Padahal banyak lahan yang dimilikinya memiliki potensi yang besar untuk budidaya buah-buahan seperti tanaman pisang untuk menambah penghasilan petani. Namun kendala yang dihadapi adalah kondisi tanah yang kurang subur untuk budidaya tanaman. Oleh karena itu TIM Pengabdian Universitas Sebelas Maret melalui hibah Dana PDTI 2024 yang menggandeng Mitra Tani Mulyo 1 dan Pemerintah Desa Gentungan melakukan upaya peningkatan kesuburan lahan dengan aplikasi biochar. Biochar merupakan arang hitam dari hasil pemanasan dan pembakaran dibawah kondisi tanpa oksigen. Berdasarkan beberapa literatur, penggunaan biochar dapat memperbaiki kesuburan fisik tanah, antara lain struktur tanah, dan kualitas tanah dalam jangka panjang serta mengurangi efek dari kontaminasi akibat penggunaan bahan kimia tertentu. Serangkaian upaya implementasi biochar dalam budidaya tanaman pisang dimulai dari kegiatan pembuatan alat produksi biochar, pelatihan produksi biochar, pelatihan budidaya pisang berbasis biochar dan praktik langsung pada lahan pekarangan Tani Mulyo 1. Kegiatan ini menerapkan alat produksi biochar agar mitra penerima manfaat memiliki kompetensi dalam produksi biochar secara mandiri dari sekam padi serta dalam jangka panjang dapat menambah penghasilan petani melalui budidaya tanaman pisang di lahan pekarangan. Secara umum program yang dijalan sukses terlaksana atas kerjasama TIM Pengusul dengan mitra serta dukungan pengalaman dan kompetensi pengusul dari berbagai disiplin ilmu yang berbeda dan linear.

Abstract

Usaha kecil menengah Bumi Makmur Sejahtera (UKM-BMS) yang memproduksi kecap manis khas Wonogiri ini masih tergolong jarang, padahal potensi pasar cukup besar di Jawa Tengah. Program di UKM-BMS pada tahun 2020 berhasil meningkatkan kapasitas produksi dengan pengadaan tungku pemasak, mesin pengaduk, mesin pengemas (filling machine) dan raw material handling dan membuat proses produksi bisa lebih higienis. Tetapi konsistensi kualitas produk belum memuaskan karena proses penyaringan masih secara manual menggunakan kain dan memerlukan waktu lama serta kapasitas produksi belum maksimal karena belum ada proses pendinginan produk kecap hasil olahan dari tungku perebusan yang cepat sehingga tidak mengalami penguapan saat di dalam kemasan yang berakibat mudah timbulnya jamur karena adanya kandungan air di dalam kemasan. Proses pendinginan saat ini masih membutuhkan waktu 12 jam di dalam sebuah tabung terbuka, sehingga kecap hasil olahan rawan terkontaminasi dengan kotoran luar dan tidak bisa segera dipasarkan. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh pengabdi adalah berupa desain dan perancangan prototipe alat pendingin dan alat pengayak/penyaring produk olahan kecap dari tungku pemasak. Pendampingan dimulai dari instalasi alat, praktik langsung di lapangan serta pelatihan untuk perawatan alat. Untuk meningkatkan keamanan pangan dan keselamatan pekerja akan diselenggarakan pelatihan dan praktik tentang materi terkait. Produk yang akan dihasilkan dan diberikan ke mitra adalah alat pendingin dan alat penyaring. Juga akan dihasilkan publikasi dalam jurnal pengabdian masyarakat, berita media masa, dan draf paten pendingin dan penyaring kecap. Target akhir dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah terinstalnya peralatan pendingin dan penyaring hasil olahan kecap di mitra sehingga kapasitas dan higienis produk kecap meningkat.

Abstract

The Umbul Tlatar area is a water tourism destination with considerable potential. Its proximity to the city of Surakarta, good accessibility, and abundant surface water resources makes it an attractive site for bathing and water sports. However, the lack of a defined tourism concept and development planning, as well as the absence of an integrative approach, has resulted in the area appearing underdeveloped and poorly maintained. This has led to suboptimal tourist appeal, with fluctuating visitor numbers, particularly in the post-COVID-19 period (2023–2024). Therefore, there is a need for a strategic development plan to maximize the tourism potential of Umbul Tlatar, enabling it to compete with other tourist destinations in Boyolali Regency and the surrounding areas. The objective of study us to construct integrative tourism planning in Umbul Tlatar. The combination drone mapping and field observation was conducted to obtain the hidden potency of Umbul Tlatar. The results shows that the Umbbul Tlatar has several tourism attcraction that could be developed more such as Umbul Pengilon, National standar swimming pool, Etasia-Ecotourism, Tlatar Cullinary, Sumber Rejeki Fishing pond, and Karunia Outbound Centre. Those several tourism spots will be planned as integrated tourism area, thus at least can extend the tourist time to stay. To address this, a collaborative effort between the local government and community is required to develop an integrative tourism site plan that can increase visitor numbers to Umbul Tlatar.

Abstract

The present research explores the optimization of container delivery processes at Terminal Peti Kemas Nilam using a Lean Services approach, addressing increased competition and customer expectations in the logistics supply chain by reducing waste during loading and unloading. Employing qualitative methods, including observations, questionnaires, interviews, and document analyses, the study utilized the VALSAT tool to identify waste and categorize activities into value-added (VA) and non-value-added (NVA). The analysis identified 12 activities, nine VA and three NVA, and key wastes such as waiting, unnecessary inventory, and defects. A fishbone diagram was employed to analyze root causes and guide improvement proposals, providing a framework for enhancing efficiency and service delivery in the logistics sector.

Abstract

Turunnya pendapatan akibat COVID-19 serta anjuran protokol kesehatan dari pemerintah membuat pelaku bisnis mencari cara yang efektif untuk dapat melayani secara maksimal dengan segala keterbatasan pada masa pandemi. Dimensi Service Quality dan metode Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) dapat membantu pelaku bisnis menemukan atribut yang dapat diperbaiki berdasarkan nilai kinerja dan nilai kepentingan. Peneliti membuat 22 pertanyaan seputar kualitas layanan di masa pandemi berdasarkan studi pustaka. Terdapat 65 partisipan yang diambil dari pelanggan kedai selama pandemi COVID-19. Menurut hasil IPA, usulan perbaikan dapat diterapkan pada dimensi Servqual yang masuk ke dalam Kuadran I (Prioritas Utama). Di dalamnya antara lain terdapat atribut protokol kesehatan sesuai anjuran pemerintah, ruang duduk yang nyaman dan memadai, serta ruang duduk yang bersih dan rapi. In-depth interview kemudian dilakukan dengan manajer dan pemilik Kedai Kopi Berbaur untuk menemukan usulan perbaikan. Usulan perbaikan yang dihasilkan antara lain adalah penempelan informasi physical distancing, perluasan tempat di masa sewa selanjutnya, dan melakukan pengawasan berkala terhadap kinerja kebersihan tempat. Hasil penelitian ini menambah bukti empiris dan referensi mengenai praktik yang berkaitan dengan kualitas pelayanan dalam bisnis kedai kopi pada masa pandemi COVID-19.

Abstract

Desa Sambi, Kecamatan Sambirejo, Sragen terlatak pad aketinggian 191 mdpl dengan jumlah penduduk sebagian besar sebagai petani dan peternak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengedukasi dan melatih masyarakat dalam pengelolaan limbah ternak menjadi pupuk organik padat melalui proses pengomposan. Desa Sambi memiliki potensi besar dalam sektor pertanian dan peternakan, namun limbah ternak yang dihasilkan belum dimanfaatkan dengan optimal. Penggunaan pupuk organik dari limbah ternak diharapkan dapat mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap pupuk kimia yang berdampak negatif pada lingkungan dan kesuburan tanah. Metode pengabdian sosialisasi, penyuluhan, dan pelatihan pengomposan aerob dengan melibatkan BUMDes Sejahtera dan Kelompok Tani "Sumber Rejeki" sebagai mitra. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat terkait manfaat pengomposan limbah ternak serta teknik yang tepat dalam menghasilkan pupuk organik berkualitas tinggi. Masyarakat Desa Sambi menunjukkan antusiasme dan partisipasi aktif dalam kegiatan ini, yang diharapkan dapat berkelanjutan untuk mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan dan meningkatkan perekonomian desa. Namun, perlu dilakukan pemantauan lebih lanjut terhadap penerapan teknik pengomposan dan kualitas pupuk organik yang dihasilkan sesuai dengan standar yang berlaku

Abstract

Introduction: Particularly in Indonesia, waste management—especially organic waste—remains a major worldwide concern. A substantial contributor to greenhouse gas emissions (7.29% yearly) and economic losses of IDR 213–551 trillion, food waste will make up 39.78% of all garbage in 2023. Methods: This study employs a systematic literature review to analyze organic waste management practices and their environmental implications, utilizing secondary data from national and global sources. Results: The findings show that Indonesia has problems with such low public knowledge, reliance on subpar dumps, and limited technology. Locally, creative methods such as using Black Soldier Fly larvae to convert organic waste show promise. Around the world, modern technologies like Malaysian and Thai anaerobic digestion and programs like the European Green Deal show greater efficiency. Successful programs frequently incorporate government incentives, trash segregation regulations, and public education. Conclusion and suggestion: SAccording to the study's findings, managing organic waste sustainably can lower greenhouse gas emissions and help achieve several UN SDGs, such as those related to health, clean water, and climate change. Promoting trash separation at the source, using composting methods, implementing contemporary technologies, and encouraging cooperation between public, corporate, and community sectors are some of the main proposals. Long-term solutions in Indonesia and elsewhere depend on addressing shortages in funding, infrastructure, and public awareness.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to enhance the entrepreneurial mindset and marketing skills of goat farmers in Sumbersawit Village, Magetan, through a community service initiative focused on digital marketing, social media use, and innovative livestock product management. Research methodology: Conducted in Sumbersawit Village, the program involved 20 goat farmers. This approach includes workshops on entrepreneurial motivation, digital marketing, and social media tools. Canva was introduced for content creation, and Instagram Ads for market reach expansion. Participants also engaged in hands-on sessions and designed campaigns on platforms such as Instagram and Tokopedia. Results: The program significantly improved participants’ entrepreneurial awareness and digital marketing competencies. Farmers successfully learned to create promotional materials using Canva and were able to broaden their reach through Instagram Ads. Around 80% of participants expressed interest in diversifying their livestock businesses, 60% planned to utilize goat waste for organic fertilizer, and 50% applied Instagram Ads to promote products online. Conclusions: This initiative boosted local entrepreneurship and digital literacy. Farmers demonstrated improved skills in using Canva and Instagram Insights to develop creative and impactful content. These changes are expected to increase income and expand customer reach. However, continued mentoring is essential for sustained application and innovation. Limitations: Limited digital exposure among the participants required extended training times. Additionally, the scope of the study —goat farmers in a single village—may limit its applicability to other agricultural sectors or regions. Contribution: This study offers a model for applying digital marketing to rural entrepreneurship. This highlights how accessible technologies can empower farmers and bridge rural-to-urban market gaps.

Abstract

The livestock waste in Sambi village has not been utilized for organic fertilizer. In fact, the number of livestock farmers is increasing every year, which has an impact on increasing waste. The purpose of this activity is to provide training and practice in making solid organic fertilizer from livestock waste in Sambi Village, Sambirejo District, Sragen Regency. Organic fertilizer is a form of fertilizer that comes from organic materials, such as animal waste, rotting plant residues, and other natural sources. Making organic fertilizer has the advantage of increasing community income and optimal use of organic fertilizer can improve soil fertility due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers. The majority of Sambi villagers have livestock and also cultivate agricultural crops. Waste has not been utilized for solid organic fertilizer and is still completely dependent on chemical fertilizers that cause physical damage to the soil, besides being expensive and rare. This program provides a package of solid organic fertilizer processing technology so that farmer groups can produce independently. In achieving the success of the program, socialization, training and mentoring have been carried out periodically. The production of organic fertilizer is expected to increase soil fertility and can be sold to increase community income
