Abstract

As one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia exhibits a universal modern business environment where Islamic values are not only religious principles, but also serve as a legal framework and social norms. This research seeks to uncover complex legal and moral dilemmas in business communication in Indonesia. This article uses qualitative methods with a communication approach and Islamic economic law. Abstract

This study aims to describe the perspectives/stereotypes towards each other between the indigenous and immigrant populations in the Sorong City area. The indigenous Papuan population is defined as the population that falls into 3 criteria, namely those whose father/mother is of indigenous Papuan descent, or one of whose parents is of Papuan descent, and people who have been traditionally adopted as indigenous Papuans, while the immigrant population group is a non-Papuan population that comes from all over the Indonesian archipelago. The research used a qualitative method by interviewing 5 informants from each group. The results showed that both groups collectively claimed themselves to be part of the Papuan community. The indigenous people view the newcomers based on two criteria: ethnic status and their role in contributing to the Papuan community in Sorong City. Ethnically, newcomers are those who do not have Papuan bloodlines from either or both parents, resulting in the label of "newcomer" that continues to stick. In terms of "role," they are seen as having made significant contributions to the progress of Sorong City in areas like knowledge, expertise, and decision-making principles. Meanwhile, the newcomers perceive the indigenous people based on human resource (HR) quality and personality factors. Regarding HR quality, there is still a considerable gap between the indigenous people and the newcomers, especially in educational attainment, which affects various aspects of indigenous people's quality, including economic, social, and governmental domains. In terms of "personality," newcomers consider the indigenous people to have admirable qualities, particularly their strong sense of loyalty and reciprocity. Certain perspectives that lead to conflicts are mainly driven by personal or group interests, which often associate ethnic status as a trigger for differences.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of government priorities, oligarchic interests, and other factors that may hinder the translation of activism into concrete policy changes within the framework of alienation. The study employs a qualitative approach utilizing an unobtrusive data collection method, explicitly focusing on documentary analysis through news reports and related academic literature. The findings suggest a collective expression of discontent through social movements led by Indonesian student activists, encompassing various aspects of their lives. However, student voices are repeatedly silenced. One of the constraints is the need for more partnership between activists and the media, resulting from media conglomeration. In addition to media conglomeration, the regime's prioritization of economic development has relegated student voices to mere echoes, demonstrating that alienation occurs from multiple directions.

Environmental issues on the coast are of concern because of their important existence, but environmental conditions on the coast, especially mangrove forests, are increasingly critical Based on Clark Labs data, the extent of mangrove conversion to ponds from 1999 to 2018. The on going community participation in the mangrove rehabilitation program has its dynamics because it involves many parties. During the implementation of the program activities, the main issues encouraging community participation in mangrove rehabilitation such as analysis, strategy, mobilization, action, evaluation, and sustainability are very interesting to be studied further. This research uses qualitative research with a case study approach. The unit of analysis is the mangrove rehabilitation program. Key data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants. For the data triangulation process, observation of mangrove rehabilitation sites was carried out to complete the research data. Furthermore, the data is analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of this study is an evaluation of community participation in the mangrove rehabilitation program in Tanroe Hamlet, Bababinanga Village, while some issues have not been satisfactory such as participation in evaluation and participation in decision-making. Furthermore, developing a communication strategy run by the Pinrang Regency Government is very good for the short term. In the long term, it has not yielded significant results in some areas of the rehabilitation program. This is influenced by several things, including land rehabilitation and empowerment by communicators, extension programs and public campaigns, community participation in planning and decision-making, diverse communication media, formation of working groups and training, monitoring, and feedback. In principle, the practice carried out is good but still at the exploration stage.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of forensic communication with media analysis to understand and address sexual violence. Media authenticity is examined as a crucial factor influencing public perception and judicial processes. Through a detailed examination of how media constructs motives and the application of forensic communication techniques, the research demonstrates the potential of mass media to serve as forensic evidence. The study employs an interpretive paradigm and Ricoeur's Hermeneutics of Suspicion to analyze media texts and police examination minutes. Findings indicate that the construction of motives in media significantly impacts the evidentiary process in sexual harassment cases. This research underscores the importance of accurate media representation and calls for the media to adhere to accuracy, integrity, and social responsibility principles. Further research is suggested to explore the broader social dynamics and collective motives in criminal cases, particularly sexual violence.

Abstract

Differences in perspective, scientific background, and understanding of a researcher often become a paradigm that will affect the methods used in compiling design research, which leads to how to formulate problems, determine data collection techniques, analyze data, and so on. This article discusses how the grounded theory method is applied in political communication research, surveys, and public opinion with a qualitative research approach. Qualitative research using the grounded theory method starts from the data to reach a theory. It does not start from a theory or test a theory, so in grounded theory research, it is necessary to have various procedures or steps that are systematic and well-planned. Researchers observe, collect, and organize data and form theories from the data simultaneously. One of the essential techniques in grounded theory research is the constant comparison process in which each piece of data is compared with all other data one by one.
