Abstract

Instructional communication is an important element in educational communication between teachers and students. The high school international school environment is different from the national school. This study aims to find out the influence and results of analysis on international school standards and teacher competence in high schools located in DKI Jakarta on instructional communication and communication behaviour. The methodology used is a mixed sequential explanatory method, conducting a survey of high school level students at an international school in DKI Jakarta and processed through semi-structural interviews and literature. The results shown that international school standards directly influence communication behaviour but not directly affect instructional communication. While teacher competence directly influences instructional communication, not directly affect communication behaviour. However, instructional communication as an intervening variable increases influence on international school standards and teacher competence on communication behaviour. Hence, the environment and the teacher's competence influence how the teacher teaches and acts as a model through verbal and nonverbal instructional communication. However, cultural and experiential also influence how Indonesian and foreign teachers apply instructional communication and react to students. The reactions of the two communities are sometimes different and have an impact on the profile of students who study abroad.

Abstract

Abstract The concept of conflict management often focuses only on how to stop the conflict. However, how to prevent these conflicts from happening again, and how to maintain permanent peace, often escapes scientific studies and the attention of conflict theorists and parties concerned with world peace. Based on this phenomenon, Bar-Siman-Tov developed a theory regarding the creation of lasting peace (stable peace) through a dialectic between the "peace approach" (top down structural) and the "reconciliation approach" (bottom up social psychological). The research is aimed at analyzing the Ambon conflict using the Bar-Siman-Tov theory. The Ambon conflict is a big story in the history of the Indonesian nation. Maluku,  known as a peaceful region with all its plurality, was tested in 1999-2002 by a major conflict. The method used is the library method by collecting data through various written sources. The results of the study show that the dialectic of a structural "peace approach" with a grassroots "reconciliation approach" is capable of creating stable peace. Keywords: stable peace; peace; reconciliation; dialectics

Abstract

The ISIS terrorist group still poses a serious threat in Indonesia, especially because it operates in a network (net-terrorism) so that the handling of this terrorist group often does not reach its roots. The research is aimed to reveal the social network strategy in resolving terrorist acts in Indonesia using a structural hole theory. The research method is a qualitative research approach with secondary data analysis from four sources: books, journal articles, previous related research, and the Law of the Republic of Indonesia. The data above is then processed with Ucinet-Draw to calculate the linkage score between members in the network and then see the movement map for each ISIS network in Indonesia: Jakarta, Poso, and Surabaya. Thus, this study proves that there is a gap in the structure of the ISIS group's communication network in Indonesia. The research results revealed that many terrorist acts in Indonesia had the same pattern, namely the strong communication network between terrorist actors. Terrorist actors carried out at least three tertius strategies, namely tertius gaudens, tertius inguens, and a combination of the two. Through the tertius strategy, the government will be able to play its most crucial role in taking preventive actions against actors in terrorist networks. Therefore, the government needed to carry out various integration strategies with various institutions to conduct deradicalization appropriately.

Abstract

Computation propaganda which is aimed at diverting public opinion, is widely used in the world of politics in the current era of digital democracy. One of the effects of use computation propaganda namely the polarization of public opinion on social media. This needs to be a concern, especially in Indonesia which has a pluralistic society. This research wants to find out how computational propaganda strategies are used in the 2024 presidential election of the Republic of Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research data is the result of Social Network Analysis (SNA) on conversations about the 2024 presidential election which became a trending topic on Twitter/X social media. The analysis was carried out by Drone Emprit Academic, the data from the analysis was then interpreted by researchers. The results of the research show that the 02 Prabowo/Gibran candidate pair used a computational propaganda strategy in building and guiding public opinion about the pair. This can be seen on the SNA map where the sub-clusters are formed separately from the main cluster, creating a network mesh  network and post many to many This is a characteristic of a bot account. The narrative built by the network has a positive sentiment towards couple 02. The use of bots by one of the couples has the potential to create polarization of public opinion regarding the 2024 presidential election on social media. The use of computational propaganda has become unavoidable in today's rapidly developing technological era. Therefore, there is a need for understanding from an ethical perspective in using it and there is a need to increase political literacy and digital literacy for the community regarding this matter.
