Abstract

Utilization of renewable energy in Aceh is still limited mainly to small-scale electricity through micro-hydro and solar power plants, accounting for less than 1% of the energy composition. Sabang stands out as a region with significant wind energy potential, boasting a speed of 8 m/s and an average power density of 537 W/m2 for the windiest 10% of the region. Therefore, to explore the viability of harnessing wind energy, a pre-feasibility study is needed. This study aimed to assess the techno-economic feasibility of constructing a wind power plant for electricity generation in Sabang by evaluating the region's wind energy. The statistical method of the Weibull Distribution probability density function was employed to evaluate Wind Power Density (WPD), Wind Turbine Capacity Factor, and Energy Output. Additionally, economic feasibility analysis involved calculating Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Discounted Payback Period (DPP), and Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). The results showed that Sabang exhibited favorable[UMN1]  wind characteristics with a shape parameter (k) of 1.6, average wind speed (Vm) of 7.9 m/s, and scale parameter (c) of 9 m/s. These features classified Sabang as wind power class 6 with a WPD of 735 watts/m2 at a height of 50 m, and the results were categorized as excellent. The study concluded that constructing a wind power plant in Sabang using the Enercon E-70 turbine at a hub height of 100m was technically feasible. The shape parameter (k) was 1.6, the average wind speed (Vm) was 9.3 m/s, scale parameter (c) was 11 m, and the WPD reached 1213 W/m2, leading to a turbine capacity factor of 0.53 and an annual energy production (AEP) of 64,876,560 kW. The economic analysis yielded promising results for wind power projects. The DPP value was estimated at 5.6 years, the BCR at 1.96, the NPV amounted to USD 14,434,994, the IRR reached 17.9%, and the LCOE was assessed at USD 32.50/MWh. Considering all these economic indicators, it was evident that constructing a wind power plant in Sabang was highly feasible and financially viable

Abstract

Fuzzy logic is a logic that has values of fuzziness or ambiguity between true and false. Values in fuzzy logic typically range from 0 to 1. The theory of fuzzy logic is widely used for control systems in various fields. An automatic flower irrigation system is an automated watering device that can be operated with fuzzy logic. In this research, there are two main parameters: temperature and humidity. For the temperature parameter, five linguistic variables are used: cold, cool, normal, warm, and hot. Meanwhile, for soil moisture, three linguistic variables are used: dry, moist, and wet. The results of this research are the maximum setting points obtained according to the rules that have been defined. In this study, the maximum setting point is achieved with a high temperature and low humidity. The difference in output between the Mamdani and Sugeno methods is not very significant. The Mamdani method produces real number values, while the Sugeno method produces integer values. This difference is due to several factors, one of which is the difference in the use of formulas in the defuzzification process of each method.

Abstract

Watering and fertilizing are very important to maintain the quality of the oil palm seeds. If the oil palm seeds are not watered regularly the soil will dry out while the oil palm seeds generally need to maintain adequate soil moisture and require a loose textured soil medium. So far, farmers have not optimally fulfilled the needs for water and fertilizer for oil palm seeds because they still use manual and traditional methods. Technological developments have made it possible to create irrigation and fertilization techniques automatically. In this study, a prototype of an automatic watering and fertilizing system was designed and realized for oil palm seedlings using the NodeMCU ESP8266 as the main controller in addition to RTC, humidity sensors, relays, water pumps, LCDs, and smartphones. RTC is used for fertilization scheduling, humidity sensors to sense soil moisture levels, relays as automatic switches that turn on and off pumps, water pumps to pump water and liquid fertilizer, LCD to display information, and smartphones to monitor conditions and processes of watering and fertilizing coconut seedlings palm. The test results show that the prototype tool can work well. When the soil moisture is read by the humidity sensor less than 30% (dry soil condition) then pump one is activated and when the soil moisture is more than 60% (wet soil condition) then pump one turns off. Furthermore, fertilization can take place according to a predetermined schedule where the second pump will automatically activate with a duration of 20 seconds for each fertilization period.

Abstract

The use of renewable energy for rural electrification in Indonesia has great potential, including the potential for energy from biomass. One way to convert biomass into renewable energy is through the pyrolysis process. Heating technology in pyrolysis is currently under development, one of which uses electrical energy with induction heating technology. Therefore, the aim of this research is to design a pyrolysis tool with a suitable induction heater, where this tool is powered by an electrical energy source. The pyrolysis tool is designed to use an induction heater that is varied by using a three-coil and a seven-coil heating element. The pyrolysis tool design was then realised in prototype form with a length of 1500 mm, width of 1000 mm and height of 1400 mm. Prototype testing was carried out using one heater, with each coil variation operated until the pyrolysis reactor reached the design temperature of 500°C within 120 minutes. The test results of the prototype pyrolysis unit using an induction heater with a three-coil heating element showed that the reactor temperature could not reach the desired target, but only reached a temperature of about 305.6°C in 120 minutes, with the electrical energy required for one test being about 5 kWh. Meanwhile, tests using an induction heater with a seven-coil heating element showed that the reactor temperature target of 500°C in 120 minutes could be well achieved. The electrical energy required for a test using a seven-coil heater is approximately 8 kWh.

Abstract

Technological developments are increasingly rapid, especially in the field of transportation, especially in electric vehicles, which are triggered by the increasing scarcity of fossil fuels. One of the propulsion engines that are widely used in electric vehicles is the brushless direct current (BLDC) motor because this motor has high torque, constant speed and is easy to regulate. This study aims to design a BLDC motor control using a boost converter as a voltage increaser and using a PID controller as a motor speed controller to keep it constant. In this study, the motor speed is simulated with an input value of 3000 rpm and then a DC voltage of 310 Vdc is given. The results showed that the motor speed regulation using a boost converter can rotate constant. The boost converter as a voltage booster is able to increase the Vin 220 Vdc voltage to a more 10% Vout, which is 242.3 V. Keywords: Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Motor, Boost Converter, PID

Abstract

Fully controlled rectifier and BCR. The battery charge regulator (BCR) is the most important unit of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) device. The BCR uses a 15 V/5 A transformer to lower the voltage so as not to overload the BCR components. Full control using four thyristors serves to supply voltage to the BCR, while the BCR serves to regulate battery charging. Forcing the battery to be charged at a constant voltage with the same current results in shorter battery life. Battery charging through the BCR is set to match the battery voltage, then allowing the BCR to control it by adjusting the phase voltage to 13.5 V for high voltage discharge (HVD) and 10.5 V for low voltage discharge (LVD). By using an IC Regulator combined with a relay as a voltage breaker for a fully charged battery, it will automatically disconnect to avoid overcharging the battery. Based on the performance test results of a fully controlled rectifier system using thyristors and BCR on a 12V/5Ah battery, the output voltage is as a fully controlled 12 V rectifier, the BCR switch can charge the internal battery in minutes with a current that varies between 2.1 A to 0.1 A.
