Abstract

Gender inequality remains one of the exciting issues to discuss. The role of women in social and economic continues to increase from year to year. This study aims to see the effect of the Gender Empowerment Index (GEI), Gender Development Index (GDI), and poverty rate on the Gender Inequality Index (GII) in East Java. Data sourced from the BPS-Statistics Indonesia of East Java Province for the 2018-2020 period. The statistical method used was multiple linear regression with panel data. Based on panel model testing, the random model is the best. Simultaneously, all variables affect the GII. Partially, GEI and GDI have a significant negative effect on GII. On the other hand, the percentage of poor people has a significant positive effect on GII. Based on the results of this study, comprehensive policies related to macro-social economics are needed so that the level of GII continues to decline.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine factors influencing a person's smoking status. The independent variables used were gender, working status, marital status, age, and average length of schooling. The data comes from the 2014 Indonesian Family Life Surveys (IFLS). The analytical method used is binomial/binary logistic regression. The results showed that all of the independent variables significantly affected a person's decision to smoke. Partially, age, working status, marital status, and gender positively affect a person's decision to smoke. This result means that at a higher age, a working, married and male person has a greater chance to smoke than a younger, single/not married, and female. On the other hand, the average length of schooling significantly negatively affects smoking, meaning that the higher the education, the lower the chance of smoking. Therefore, regulations that are right on target, both by the government and society, are needed to reduce the number of smokers in Indonesia

Abstract

Rice is a food commodity that has a vital role in meeting the basic food needs of most Indonesian people. Therefore the price of rice significantly impacts the availability, accessibility, and stability of the people's social, economic, and welfare. This study aims to model large prices and conduct nighttime with the ARIMA method. The ARIMA model used based on ACF and PACF criteria is ARIMA (1,1,0). ARIMA modeling (1,1,0) satisfies all assumptions of normality, non-heteroskedastic, non-autocorrelation, and model stability. The model's performance is also good in forecasting with MAPE below 10 percent. Based on forecasting results, premium rice prices continue to increase. Implementing this result requires the government to anticipate rice price increases with comprehensive policies and remain calm so that large prices remain stable

Abstract

The Public Health Development Index (PHDI) is an indicator that describes health problems and plays a role in efforts to increase long and healthy life expectancy. This study aims to compare PHDI modeling in 35 City Districts of Central Java Province using Gaussian-based regression (OLS), beta regression and fractional regression. The independent variables used are the percentage of poor people and the percentage of households accessing proper sanitation. Data is sourced from the Ministry of Health and Central Java Statistics Agency. All three models gave the same results for both simultaneous and partial tests in modeling PHDI modeling cases. Fractional regression models provide the best results with the smallest error value criteria (AIC and BIC). The percentage of poor people has a significant negative effect on IPKM while the percentage of proper sanitation has a significant positive effect on PHDI. Based on these results, it is expected that policy makers can provide comprehensive and targeted policies in improving PHDI in Indonesia

Abstract

Investors will always consider the movement of JCI in determining their investment decisions. This research examines the movement of inflation, the rupiah exchange rate, world gold prices, the DJIA stock index, and the FED rate against JCI movements. The test was conducted using the ECM (Error Corection Model) model where the results of this study can be taken into consideration by investors when investing in shares in the IDX capital market. Measurement of the relationship between the influence of macroeconomic factors on JCI movements starts from 2017 to 2021. The results found that in the long run inflation variables, the rupiah exchange rate, world gold price, DJIA stock index, and The FED rate simultaneously have a significant influence on JCI. Then in the short term inflation variables, the rupiah exchange rate, world gold prices, DJIA stock index, and The FED rate also have a simultaneous influence on the dependent variable of JCI. So by looking at the results of the influence of the five variables above on JCI, it can be used as a consideration for investors investing in shares on the IDX

Abstract

Malaria is a disease transmitted through mosquitoes; malaria is still one of the endemic diseases in Eastern Indonesia. This study aims to determine the factors that affect malaria status. The independent variables used were region, gender, insect repellent, sowing larvicide powder, draining the bathtub, and mosquito nets. The data comes from the Basic Health Research Report (Riskesdas) 2018. The analysis method used is binomial regression / binary logistics. Based on research states that together all independent variables have a significant effect on a person's malaria status. Partially, the chances of rural status, male sex, not using insect repellent, not using larvicide powder, not draining bathtubs, and not wearing mosquito nets are greater than other categories of malaria status. Therefore, self-awareness of individuals and communities is needed in striving for cleanliness and personal health

Abstract

Foreign investment as alternative funding in accelerating economic growth and development increases the climate of competition between countries in attracting investment flows. This study aims to determine the effect of corporate income tax rates and macroeconomic indicators on foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows to ASEAN member countries during the period 2013 to 2019. Using data sourced from publications of The World Bank, OECD, and KPMG, this paper used the panel data regression method. Using the Random Effects Model, this study shows that there is no statistically significant relationship between corporate income tax rates and FDI inflows in ASEAN member countries. Variables that have a significant influence on FDI inflows are macroeconomic indicators in the form of the market size (GDP), trade openness, and inflation rate. So that the results of this study can be used as a consideration in policy making in ASEAN, especially in increasing domestic investment inflows.
