Abstract

Smoking NIHL (Noise-induced hearing loss) is a condition of hearing loss, namely sensorineural deafness due to long-term exposure to noise. This disease generally causes bilateral, irreversible, and progressive deafness. The purpose of this study was to see if there was a significant relationship between length of work and duration of daily noise exposure with the incidence of NIHL in ASDP employees. The research method was Cross-sectional and the data obtained were primary data and secondary data taken using the non-probability consecutive sampling technique. The materials or instruments used in the data collection process were questionnaires for primary data and medical records for secondary data. The data analysis process was carried out using an analytical test using Fisher-exact with relevant results p-value <0.05. After the analytical test was carried out, there was no significant relationship between length of work and the incidence of NIHL in ASDP employees at the ENT Polyclinic of the NTB Provincial Hospital (p = 0.34), and there was also no significant relationship between the duration of daily noise exposure and the incidence of NIHL in ASDP employees at the ENT Polyclinic of the NTB Provincial Hospital (p = 0.40). The conclusion of this study is that there is no significant relationship between length of work and duration of daily noise exposure with the incidence of NIHL in ASDP employees at the ENT Polyclinic of the NTB Provincial Hospital.

Abstract

Edukasi penggunaan APD).

Abstract

Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, is one of the best tourist destinations in Indonesia. One impact of this is increased activity on the beach and sea, which has the potential to cause emergency conditions and require immediate assistance. Equipping coastal communities with the ability to perform basic life support (BLS) is crucial, including for teachers. The purpose of this activity is to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of the principles of BLS assistance, and participants can provide BLS assistance if they encounter accident/injury victims in the water. This activity was held at the Nipah Community Health Center Hall, Malaka Village, Pemenang District, North Lombok, with a total of 22 high school teachers from Malaka Village participating. The activity was divided into six sessions: pre-test, material delivery, demonstration using mannequins, BLS skills training for participants, discussion and question-and-answer session, and concluded with a post-test. The success of this activity was seen from the increase in post-test scores compared to the pre-test, which was 33.3%. The average pre-test score was 69.55, increasing to 92.73. During the training session, participants enthusiastically practiced the BHD skills that had been previously demonstrated by the presenter and team. This activity needs to be continuously carried out for coastal communities in different locations and targets as an effort to increase the life expectancy for victims who experience respiratory arrest while carrying out activities at sea or on the coast.

Abstract

Diving activities using tire compressors, as practiced by some traditional fisherman-divers along the coast of Lombok Island when hunting fish and other marine products can cause lung dysfunction. The purpose of this study was to evaluate lung function in traditional divers who use tire compressors in Sekotong District, West Lombok, and to identify possible respiratory disorders arising from such diving activities. This research was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The data collected consisted of pulmonary function test results obtained through spirometry examination, including Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV₁), and the FEV₁/FVC ratio. Descriptive analysis consists of FVC, FEV₁, and FEV₁/FVC ratio values and their interpretations.  The results showed that the FVC value was 25.6% lower than the predicted value, while the FEV₁ value was 21.2% lower than the expected value. Most of the subjects (18 people) experienced restrictive-type pulmonary disorders (60%), which was higher than the proportion of subjects with normal pulmonary function (36.7%), while 3.3% experienced obstructive-type pulmonary disorders. Traditional divers who use tire compressors are at risk of reduced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume in one second.
