Abstract

Introduction: The newborn or neonate is a baby who must meet a number of developmental tasks to obtain and maintain their own physical growth and development as separate from the mother's body. Various factors can affect growth and development in infants, one factor was common stimulation for infants is tactile stimulation in the form of massage such as baby massage. The infant massage is able to provide a sense of security, creating emotional and social relationship between mother and baby. This study was aimed to investigate factors correlating with the implementation of infant massage in the postpartum ward of Kupang Police Hospital.Method: The study design was descriptive cross sectional analytic approach. The independent variables in this study were maternal knowledge, maternal beliefs, health resources, support health workers and family support. The dependent variable in this study was the implementation of infant massage. The samples in this study were 15 mothers giving birth in the postpartum ward of Kupang Police Hospitals and entered in the category inclusion. Retrieval of data through questionnaires administered to the mother postpartum researchers at day 2 and day 3 postpartum.Result: Based on the results of statistical tests Spearman Rho p<0.05 then H1 was accepted in the study of maternal knowledge relations p=0.015 (r= 0.612 ), maternal confidence p =0.000 (r=0.866), health resource p=0.018(r =0.600), support health workers p=0.000 (r =0.873), and family support p=0.810 ( r = -0.068 ).Discussion: It can be concluded that there was a strong relationship between maternal knowledge and health resources to the implementation of infant massage and also there was a very strong relationship between maternal confidence and support of health workers with the implementation of infant massage. There needs to be more research on the role of health workers in providing health education on infant massage as supportive-educative system according to Orem's theory.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia still faced nutritional problems in children is like stunting. Stunting is one of conditions of malnutrition in child that need to be solved in Indonesia because it can affect the quality of the next generation. This study aimed to analyze the factors related to prevention of stunting in children based on Theory of the Health Promotion Model (HPM).Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design. The population was mothers who have children aged 2-5 years with number of samples are 141 people using purposive sampling technique. The independent variables were prior related behavior, education level, socio-economic status, perceived benefits to action and perceived barrier to action. Dependent variable was prevention of stunting. Data were collected using questionnaire and analyzed using logistic regression with a significance level α <0.05.Results: A positive stunting prevention behavior were 66.7% (94 people).  Factors related to stunting prevention behavior were prior related behavior (p=0.03). While for other independent factors are level of education (p=0.74), socioeconomic status (p=0.07), perceived benefits to action (p=0.35) and perceived barrier to action (p=0.31) have no relationship with stunting prevention. The result of analysis on the prior related behavior had 2.81 times better in stunting prevention with a significance level is 0.03.Conclusion: The behavior of stunting prevention is influenced by prior related behavior that is supplementary feeding for pregnant women, overcoming iron and folic acid deficiency, providing worm medicine, providing complete immunization and preventing and treating diarrhea.

Promotive and preventive efforts need to be carried out by conducting appropriate health education, namely the Jigsaw and Make a Match methods about personal hygiene. This study aims to determine the effect of Jigsaw and Make a Match health education methods to prevent fluor albus. Methods: This study used the Quasy Experiment design which was divided into 3 groups (Jigsaw, Make a Match, and control). The number of samples used was 108 of 1,856 students. The sampling technique uses Simple Random Sampling by randomizing Nomer Induk Siswa Nasional. Independent variables are Jigsaw and Make a Match health education methods. Dependent variable is fluor albus prevention behavior. The instruments used were 3 questionnaires and 1 observation sheet that had been tested for validity and reliability with results in the knowledge category r = 0.935, attitude categories r = 0.936, and actions r = 0.921. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Kruskal Wallis test. Results: Health education using the Jigsaw method has a greater result than the Make a Match method in increasing fluor albus prevention behavior with the results of Willcoxon analysis p = 0.0000 and the mean in the Kruskall Wallis analysis the knowledge category is 84.35, attitude is 82.03, action is 79.49, and action observations amounted to 79.46.Conclusion: Health education using Jigsaw and Make a Match methods is used to develop health promotion nursing interventions to improve fluor albus prevention behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescent sex behavior is strongly influenced by several things related to the theory of transcultural nursing. The high teenage sex behavior has an impact on the high rate of unwanted pregnancies, maternal mortality and infant mortality and various other health problems. This study aims to analyze transcultural nursing factors related to premarital sexual behavior of adolescents in East Sumba Regency. Methods: The design of this study is descriptive analytical with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected by simple random sampling, namely students of class X and XI SMA N 1 Lewa and SMA N 1Nggaha Ori Angu. Data retrieval using questionnaire instruments as many as 6 instruments that have been tested for validity and reliability by researchers and the results of the study were analyzed using the chi square-Pearson test. Results: The high rate of premarital sexual behavior of adolescents in East Sumba Regency was related to social factors and kinship (p = 0.004), culture and lifestyle (p = 0.011), and economy (p = 0.004). Premarital sex behavior is not related to technological factors (p = 0.292), policy and regulations (p = 0.775) and education factors (p = 0.890).Conclusion: There was 3 variables related to premarital sex, namely social factors and kinship, culture and lifestyle and economy. This is due to the existence of local cultural customs and customs which allow arranged marriage in adolescents. Matchmaking is carried out by parents with the aim of completing the social strata (maramba) and mostly to improve the economic status of the family.

Abstract

Introduction: Low Birth Weight Babies (LBWB) is one of the causes of the high Neonatal Mortality Rate in Indonesia. This occurs because LBWB has non-optimal temperature regulation centers, thin-brown and subcutaneous fat tissue, inadequate muscle growth, and organ immaturity. Kangaroo Care (KC) is expected to be an effective and efficient solution to keep LBW in a stable condition. This study aimed to determine the effect of KC on the physiological responses of LBWB.Methods: This study is a pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest research design. The sample was obtained with a total sampling technique and the size was 21 LBWB. The independent variable in this study was KC; carried out for 3 days with a frequency of 2 times a day and 90 minutes per KC. Meanwhile, the dependent variable was the physiological responses of LBWB which consisted of temperature, heart rate, and oxygen saturation. The instrument used was KC observation sheets with Wilcoxon signed rank test for the data analysis. Results: The study showed that the temperature increased from 36.50C to 36.90C; the heart rate increased from 135 x/minute to 147 x/minute; the oxygen saturation increased from 93% to 98%. The results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test on the pretest-posttest data revealed that the temperature p = 0.002, heart rate frequency p = 0.001, and oxygen saturation p = 0.000. The increased physiological responses were still in the range of normal. Conclusion: The KC can maintain the stability of LBWB physiological responses. By that, it is recommended for parents to continue KC as a home-care for LBWB until the weight reached 2500 grams.
