Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of the cultivation of Wasathiyah Islamic values in Islamic boarding school-based universities. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection techniques used include in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed through three stages: data condensation, data presentation, concluding, and verifying the findings. The study results indicate that the management of the cultivation of Wasathiyah values in universities is integrated into curriculum planning and campus management, which reflects the principles of religious moderation and diversity. Both universities emphasize role models as the primary method in teaching, with Wasathiyah values implemented in the curriculum and applied in campus life through attitudes of tolerance and inclusivity. Evaluation of the cultivation is carried out periodically to assess the impact and suitability of the program with student needs. This study provides implications for integrating religious moderation values in Islamic boarding school-based higher education to create an inclusive, tolerant academic environment and build moderate character among students. The Wasathiyah-based curriculum can be a model for other universities to develop education that supports religious harmony and social tolerance.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of ecotheology into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in higher education and its impact on strengthening students' ecological awareness. In Indonesia, the environmental crisis, driven by unchecked exploitation of natural resources, has become a pressing issue, and Islamic Religious Education plays a key role in shaping students’ attitudes toward environmental responsibility. A qualitative interpretive approach was adopted, employing a multisite design at universities. The research findings reveal that the curriculum integrates ecotheological values, with a focus on human dignity, ethical responsibility, and environmental stewardship. The learning process emphasizes active learning strategies, such as project- and problem-based learning, encouraging students to apply Islamic values to real-world environmental issues. The evaluation methods include diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure students’ ecological knowledge and behavior. The study contributes to bridging religious education and ecological sustainability, proposing the need for more comprehensive curriculum reforms, faculty training, and policy support. Future research should expand to include more institutions and assess long-term behavioral impacts.

The model operates through Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, official websites, and WhatsApp, utilizing educational content, activity visuals, and authentic testimonials. The strategy enhances digital visibility, builds a modern-Islamic institutional image, and effectively reaches prospective students beyond Kalimantan. Practical applications of this study include digital marketing for Islamic education, branding in faith-based institutions, and trust-based communication strategies. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of parental trust as the core driver of digital marketing effectiveness in pesantren, producing a culturally grounded model aligned with Islamic educational values. The study concludes that optimizing parental trust significantly strengthens digital marketing performance in modern Islamic boarding schools during the ongoing digital transformation in education.

Abstract

This article explores the synergy between science, knowledge, and religion as an integrative approach to addressing contemporary challenges, including moral issues, environmental crises, and the rapid development of modern technology. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method through a literature review, gathering data from books, journals, and relevant scientific articles. The findings identify four main forms of synergy: conceptual dialogue between theology and science, integration within education, collaboration on socio-environmental issues, and the engagement of scientists with faith communities. These forms of integration demonstrate significant contributions in broadening understanding, strengthening moral legitimacy, and enhancing public participation in strategic issues. Nevertheless, the integration efforts face challenges, both conceptual stemming from epistemological differences and practical, such as limitations in scientific and religious literacy, institutional capacity, and socio-political factors. To address these challenges, this article proposes an integrative epistemological framework that combines empirical-rational methodologies with normative and spiritual dimensions, applicable in education, policy-making, and social practices. In conclusion, the synergy of science, knowledge, and religion is not aimed at blending the two domains but at fostering a productive dialogue that balances scientific rationality with moral-spiritual wisdom, making it highly relevant for building a just, sustainable, and human-centered civilization.
