Abstract

Not only adults, but also school-age children are often greatly impacted by the rapid developments in this technological era. Smartphones, or what we better know as gadgets, seem to be a mandatory item that parents must provide for their children so they don't miss out on fast information. The use of gadgets does have many positive impacts for school-age children, for example increasing knowledge and experience that they have never had before, but sometimes the negative impacts outweigh the positive ones. In fact, many experience negative impacts and addiction. The impact of gadget addiction greatly affects the emotions and behavior of children who are addicted to gadgets. Therefore, the author and the community service team provided education to fishermen's children about the dangers of gadgets through educational videos. In this case, the community service team used two videos in the community service implementation. The first video from Pondok Kreativ entitled "Gadget Addiction" and the second video from Healthy Kids entitled "When Lala Plays Gadgets". This community service was carried out at Pagagan Elementary School, Pademawu District, where the majority of students are fishermen's children. Fishermen's children sometimes lack extra attention from their parents who are busy earning a living as fishermen. Day and night, their parents are at sea, and in the morning, they go to the market to sell their catch. This community service activity has made 90% of Pagagan Elementary School students aware of the benefits of educational videos, and they have even pledged to reduce their daily use of gadgets by engaging in positive activities like studying, helping their parents, and playing with friends.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) systems in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia, focusing on the challenges and opportunities of integrating these systems within the unique cultural and religious context of pesantren. Given the dynamic educational landscape and the evolving demands of quality education, this research seeks to understand how IQA can be effectively adapted to fit the specific needs of pesantren while ensuring that their traditional pedagogical values are preserved. The study employs a qualitative research approach, including an analysis of relevant literature and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders involved in the development and implementation of IQA systems within pesantren. The findings reveal that successful IQA implementation requires a careful balance between modern educational standards and the intrinsic values of pesantren, such as religious education, spiritual development, and character formation. Moreover, the study identifies several critical factors for effective IQA implementation, including strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, capacity building for educators and administrators, and the strategic use of technology to enhance efficiency and data management. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the importance of fostering a culture of continuous improvement and community involvement, which includes engaging parents, alumni, and local community members in the IQA process. By addressing these key factors, pesantren can not only enhance the quality of their educational programs but also contribute to the broader goal of developing a knowledgeable and skilled workforce that aligns with the needs of a rapidly changing global landscape. Ultimately, this study advocates for a holistic approach to IQA in pesantren that preserves their cultural heritage while embracing innovation to meet the demands of the 21st century.

Abstract

Community-based education begins with a critical educational perspective that wants to challenge the government's hegemony in the field of education through the democratization of education. This study aims to examine the concept of community-based education that is applied in Indonesia. This study is library research with analysis through a survey of relevant literature data, both in the form of reference books, previous research results, articles, notes, and journals. The results of the study indicate that community-based education in Indonesia has been implemented through various programs developed in the education process in the form of formal and non-formal education rights according to religious characteristics and social and cultural environments. However, there are several obstacles to its implementation in Indonesia, including 1) the relatively high level of community dependence on the government, 2) the weak economy of the community, and 3) school-based education still being dominant. Some supporting factors include: 1) many community-based institutions have succeeded in implementing this model independently, 2) the culture of the Indonesian people who are predominantly Muslim, and 3) the spirit of cooperation

Abstract

In the modern era, education plays a vital role in preparing students to navigate an interconnected and technologically advanced world. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is crucial for fostering moral and spiritual development among Muslim students. However, the current curriculum often fails to address 21st-century competencies such as critical thinking, digital literacy, and global citizenship. This study examines the alignment of the PAI curriculum with future generational needs, the integration of technology in Islamic education, and the gaps between traditional content and modern educational demands. Using interviews, classroom observations, surveys, and focus group discussions, the research highlights both the strengths and limitations of the curriculum. This study proposes a comprehensive reform approach that balances traditional Islamic principles with modern pedagogical practices. Key recommendations include curriculum updates to incorporate 21st-century skills, professional development for educators, and investments in digital infrastructure. By adopting these measures, Islamic Religious Education can evolve to empower students as morally grounded, critical thinkers, and global citizens, ensuring its relevance in the 21st century.
