Abstract

This study aims to assess the ability of elementary school students to write descriptive texts. The research focuses on explanatory descriptive text composition. A qualitative research approach was employed for this study. The subjects supporting this research are elementary school students. Consequently, students are expected to develop writing skills through the practice of composing descriptive texts. Through this writing activity, students are also anticipated to cultivate a positive attitude. The researcher evaluates the students' abilities not only based on their final output but also on their process in creating the texts.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the abilities of grade 5 students in writing persuasive texts. This research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. This research involved one of the 5th grade elementary school students. The data collection technique in this research is the assignment technique for writing persuasive texts. The data collected shows that students are quite capable of writing persuasive texts well, seen from the aspect of text structure and linguistic rules of persuasive texts that students have written, but there are still some difficulties experienced by students in writing persuasive texts so they need guidance and direction from the teacher. to overcome errors so that students can improve their abilities in writing persuasive texts.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the factors that cause initial reading difficulties in second grade elementary school students and the solutions that can be provided. The approach used in this research is qualitative with descriptive methods. The subjects of this research were second grade elementary school students. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. Analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. Based on the research results, the factors causing the difficulties students experience in reading are a lack of guidance and concern from parents, a lack of reading learning activities at home and at school, and a lack of interest in learning within the students themselves.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve learning outcomes for writing argumentative texts through the application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Compotition (CIRC) model for fifth grade elementary school students and to describe the obstacles and solutions for implementing the CIRC model in improving Indonesian language learning outcomes in writing argumentative texts. The main research method used was qualitative methods which were carried out during one meeting. The subjects of this research were class V students. The data collection techniques used were observation and analysis of argumentative texts produced by students. The research results show that the CIRC model shows a significant interaction with students' critical thinking abilities in its influence on their ability to write argumentative texts. These results show that the CIRC model can significantly improve students' ability to write argumentative texts, both for students who have high and low critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

Tingkat literasi kesehatan reproduksi di kalangan remaja di Kecamatan Tapan masih rendah, didorong oleh tabu sosial dan kurangnya integrasi dalam kurikulum sekolah. Selain itu, terdapat keterbatasan media edukasi yang menarik dan kurangnya kerjasama antara sekolah dan praktisi kesehatan, serta keterbatasan wadah diskusi terstruktur yang menghambat pemahaman mendalam mengenai isu kesehatan reproduksi. Solusi dari permasalah yang dialami oleh remaja di Kecamatan Tapan adalah dengan membuat kegiatan komprehensif yang mampu meningkatkan literasi remaja dengan memanfaatkan akses informasi dan teknologi. Tujuan Pengabdian kepada Masyrakat (PKM) ini untuk meningkatkan literasi remaja dengan memanfaatkan akses informasi dan teknologi tentang kesehatan reproduksi. Metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam menunjang realisasi kegiatan PKM ini adalah metode sosialisasi dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dengan mengintegrasikan kemajuan teknologi. Kegiatan PKM ini dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yaitu kegiatan FGD di sekolah bersama mitra dengan hasil dalam kurikulum di SMAN 1 Basa Ampek Balai perlu ditambahkan adanya program seperti sosialisasi atau advokasi kesehatan reproduksi minimal dilakukan satu kali dalam dua semester. Tahap kedua, kegiatan sosialisasi kespro dengan mitra bidan desa dapat diketahui siswa belum memiliki pengetahuan yang baik mengenai kesehatan reproduksi. Tahap selanjutnya sosialisasi kespro dengan media E-booklet serta mengadakan games dengan topik kesehatan reproduksi. Dengan demikian kegiatan PKM ini sebagai wadah bagi remaja untuk mengenal kesehatan reproduksi dan dapat memahami bahwa kesehatan reproduksi bukan suatu hal yang tabu untuk dibicarakan.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop integrative thematic learning materials based on the surrounding environment and evaluate their effectiveness in improving students' environmental awareness and learning autonomy. Utilizing the Borg & Gall development model, the research followed a systematic process including interviews, observations, and surveys. Validation by curriculum and subject matter experts rated the developed materials as highly suitable. The materials were implemented and assessed through limited and operational trials with elementary school students. Findings indicated significant improvements in both environmental awareness and learning autonomy, supported by paired sample t-test results showing a significance level of 0.000. Key components of the developed materials included contextually relevant syllabi, lesson plans, instructional content, and student worksheets that integrated the surrounding environment as a learning medium. These materials facilitated experiential learning, encouraging direct interaction with real-world environmental challenges. This approach not only fostered positive attitudes toward environmental care but also promoted independent learning, enhancing students' ability to manage and evaluate their own learning processes.Keywords: thematic learning, environmental integration, environmental awareness, learning autonomy, instructional materials development

Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of students in learning Pancasila Education using a game-based learning model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research is carried out in two cycles, each cycle involves four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection stages. The subject of the study is class IV students totaling 27 students. Data collection was carried out through tests, observations, and interviews. The results of the study showed that the increase was evidenced by the results in the aspect of the teaching module in the first cycle with an average of 83.33% (B) and increased in the second cycle with an average of 91.67% (A). In the aspect of teacher activity in the first cycle with an average of 82.82% (B) and increased in the second cycle with an average of 93.75% (A). In the aspect of student activity in the first cycle with an average of 81.25% (B) and increased in the second cycle with an average of 90.63% (A). As well as in the learning outcomes of students in the first cycle with an average of 78.4 (C) and increased in the second cycle with an average of 90.43 (A). Based on this data, it can be concluded that using the game-based learning model can improve the learning outcomes of grade IV students of SDN 16 Padang Magek, Tanah Datar Regency.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the four essential competencies required in the 21st century. One of the factors influencing critical thinking skills is the understanding of science concepts. This study aims to analyze the significant relationship between the understanding of science concepts and the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in Tujuah Koto Talago Village. A quantitative approach with a correlational research design was employed in this study. Research data were collected through written tests, consisting of multiple-choice questions to assess the understanding of science concepts and essay questions to evaluate critical thinking skills. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation method. The results indicate a correlation between the understanding of science concepts and students' critical thinking skills, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the understanding of science concepts and the critical thinking skills of elementary school students in Tujuah Koto Talago Village.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes in science learning using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model in Class V of SDN 16 Pulau Karam, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This study is a classroom action research (PTK) with a qualitative and quantitative approach. Implemented in 2 cycles, cycle I consists of 2 meetings and cycle II consists of 1 meeting. The results of the study showed an increase in teaching modules in science learning using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, the implementation of science learning using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and student learning outcomes in science learning using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This can be seen from the average observation results of the Teaching Module cycle I which was 87.4% (B) increasing in cycle II to 92.8% (SB). This is also seen in the average results of teacher activities in cycle I which were 85.9% (B) increasing in cycle II to 93.8% (SB). In student activities, the average cycle I was 84.3% (B) increasing in cycle II to 93.8%. In student learning outcomes, the average cycle 1 was 81% (B) and increased in cycle 2 to 91%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve the results of learning science in class V SDN 16 Pulau Karam, Pesisir Selatan Regency.
