Abstract

Citronella is a variety of bioadditives that are easily soluble and evaporate into fuel. The use of Bioadditives in fuel aims to improve engine performance and fuel economy. The method used in this research is an experiment with RON 90 Gasoline samples, and a mixture of Citronella Bioadditives with a ratio of S1-1.5%, S2-2.0%, S3-2.5%, S4-3.0%, and S5-3.5%. Engine performance testing using Sportdevice Dyno and impacted engine performance increased by 3.11% on the S4-3.0% type, and maximum torque increase reached 2.03% on the S2-2.0% ratio. The fuel economy test based on the distance traveled with 1000 ml of fuel volume per sample at an average speed of 40-60 km/h was able to achieve a savings of 20.93% on the S5-3.5% sample with a distance of 69.9 Km/l. This is different from RON 90 gasoline without citronella mixture can only be traveled as far as 57.8 km / l. Serai Wangi merupakan ragam bioaditif yang bersifat mudah larut dan menguap ke dalam bahan bakar. Pemakaian Bioaditif dalam bahan bakar bertujuan untuk meningkatkan performa mesin dan penghematan bahan bakar. Metode yang dipakai dalam riset ini adalah eksperimen dengan sampel Bensin RON 90, dan campuran Bioaditif Serai Wangi dengan rasio S1-1,5%, S2-2,0%, S3-2,5%, S4-3,0%, dan S5-3,5%. Pengujian performa mesin mengunakan Sportdevice Dyno dan memberi dampak prestasi mesin meningkat sebesar 3,11 % pada jenis S4-3,0%, dan kenaikan torsi maksimum mencapai 2,03 % pada rasio S2-2,0%. Uji Penghematan bahan bakar berdasarkan jarak yang ditempuh dengan 1000 ml volume bahan bakar setiap sampel pada kecepatan rata-rata 40-60 km/jam mampu meraih penghematan sebesar 20,93% pada sampel S5-3.5% dengan jarak tempuh sejauh 69,9 Km/l. Hal ini berbeda dibandingkan dengan bensin RON 90 tanpa campuran serai wangi hanya mampu ditempuh sejauh 57,8 Km/l.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide assistance to students in understanding the material presented by the teacher during the period during course. The method applied in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The population group studied were students taking the Automotive Simulation and computing course in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, who were enrolled in the Automotive Engineering Education study program at the Faculty of Engineering, UNP. The results of the study show that the use of video media in the form of course via YouTube makes a positive contribution to the course process and understanding of the material for students. The responses from students to the use of video as a course tool for Simulation and Computing showed that 85.66% of them responded well, while 14.34% responded at a poor level. The results of the study show that 50.8% of students have a "good" rating, 8.73% get an "very good" assessment, and 40.47% are in the "enough" category.

Abstract

Increased vehicle temperature during parking in the sun inconveniences the driver, passengers and can damage the interior of the vehicle, including the dashboard, seats and control panel. This study was conducted to test the temperature of the vehicle during parking in the sun. This study was to compare the test results on both treatments, namely avanza type G temperature 1.3 in 2010 and innova type G 2.0 in 2010. The data collection technique in this study was using thermocouple measuring instruments and data loggers. The results of this study indicate that the highest temperature increase obtained in the test was on the Avanza vehicle, and for the points with the highest temperature in the cabin, namely on sensor 1 and sensor 2. Peningkatan temperatur kendaraan selama parkir dibawah sinar matahari mengakibatkan ketidaknyamanan pengemudi, penumpang dan dapat merusak interior kendaraan, termasuk dashboard, kursi dan panel kendali. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian temperatur kendaraan selama parkir dibawah sinar matahari. Penelitian ini untuk membandingkan hasil pengujian pada kedua objek penelitian yaitu temperatur avanza tipe G 1.3 tahun 2010 dan innova tipe G 2.0 tahun 2010. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan alat ukur data logger yang dipasang pada empat titik dalam kabin kendaraan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kenaikan temperatur tertinggi yang didapatkan dalam pengujian yaitu pada kendaraan avanza, dan untuk titik dengan temperatur tertinggi didalam kabin yaitu pada sensor 1 dan sensor 2.

Abstract

This study explores the construction of a smoke machine for visualizing air movement in a wind tunnel. The device produces synthetic smoke using a flat nickel wire heating mechanism to heat liquid glycerin. During the test, three coils were selected to produces the smoke namely flat nickel wire, each with a resistance of 3.5 Ω. A power supply adapter with a 220V DC input and 24V 10A output powers the device. Glycerin liquid is used as the heating medium due to its safety and compatibility with the machine and wind tunnel equipment. The equipment heats 200 ml of glycerin, evaporating it in about 2-3 minutes to produce sufficient smoke. According to research, the device can operate for 4 minutes, allowing the observation of air movements in the wind tunnel using a slow-motion camera. Penelitian ini membahas tentang proses pembuatan alat smoke machine pada wind tunnel sebagai visualisasi aliran udara. Alat ini digunakan sebagai alat penghasil asap buatan (smoke). Peneliti merancang alat menggunakan alat pemanas tipe kawat nikel pipih dengan memanaskan cairan glycerin. Dari percobaan yang telah dilakukan peneliti memutuskan menggunakan 3 buah lilitan kawat nikel pipih dengan tahanan 3,5 Ω. Untuk arus supply menggunakan adaptor power supply dengan input 220V DC output 24V 10A dan menggunakan cairan glycerin yang akan dipanaskan, dikarenakan cairan ini aman untuk digunakan dan tidak menyebabkan kerusakan pada alat smoke machine maupun wind tunnel. Prinsip kerja alat ini yaitu memanaskan cairan glycerin sebanyak 200 ml sehingga menguap yang membutuhkan waktu sekitar 2-4 untuk menghasilkan asap yang baik dan bagus. Dari hasil penelitian alat ini dapat digunakan selama 4 menit menggunakan kamera slow motion di wind tunnel dalam proses visualisasi aliran udara.

Abstract

Occupational safety is a critical concern in automotive workshop environments due to the high-risk nature of tasks such as engine repair, welding, and electrical diagnostics. This study investigates automotive workshop risks at the Mitsubishi DIPO Workshop in Bukittinggi by identifying hazards, assessing risk levels, and formulating workplace accident prevention strategies. The HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control) method was applied to evaluate 28 potential hazards, two of which were classified as extreme risks. Further analysis of these risks was conducted using the Fishbone Diagram to identify root causes across six contributing factors: human, machine, material, method, environment, and management. Based on these findings, targeted risk control measures were developed following the hierarchy of control, including engineering interventions, administrative policies, and personal protective equipment. This research demonstrates how integrated methods such as HIRARC and Fishbone Diagram can support comprehensive occupational safety planning and risk mitigation in automotive workshops.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan emisi gas buang Honda BeAT injeksi menggunakan Pertamax murni dan campuran Pertamax–bioetanol dari limbah kulit pisang serta limbah singkong. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen kuantitatif deskriptif pada kondisi tanpa beban setelah mesin mencapai suhu kerja. Variasi bahan bakar meliputi E0, E5 pisang, E10 pisang, E5 singkong, dan E10 singkong. Pengujian dilakukan pada 1500, 3000, 4500, 6000, dan 7500 rpm dengan lima pengulangan. Parameter CO, CO₂, O₂, HC, lambda, dan AFR diukur menggunakan gas analyzer. Data dianalisis melalui rata-rata dan persentase perubahan terhadap E0. Hasil menunjukkan seluruh campuran bioetanol menurunkan rata-rata CO dan HC dibandingkan E0. E10 pisang menjadi variasi paling menonjol secara deskriptif, dengan CO 0,410% dan HC 98,67 ppm, atau turun 40,92% dan 48,01%. Temuan ini mengindikasikan potensi awal bioetanol limbah kulit pisang sebagai campuran Pertamax untuk menurunkan CO dan HC pada rentang rpm yang diuji. This study compared exhaust emissions of a fuel-injected Honda BeAT operated with pure Pertamax and Pertamax blended with banana-peel and cassava-waste bioethanol. A descriptive quantitative experimental method was applied under no-load conditions after the engine reached operating temperature. Five fuel variations were tested: E0, E5 banana, E10 banana, E5 cassava, and E10 cassava. Tests were conducted at 1500, 3000, 4500, 6000, and 7500 rpm with five replications. CO, CO₂, O₂, HC, lambda, and AFR were measured using a gas analyzer. Data were analyzed using mean values and percentage changes relative to E0. All bioethanol blends reduced average CO and HC compared with E0. E10 banana was the most prominent variation descriptively, with CO of 0.410% and HC of 98.67 ppm, corresponding to reductions of 40.92% and 48.01%. These findings indicate the preliminary potential of banana-peel bioethanol as a Pertamax blend to reduce CO and HC.

Abstract

Peningkatan polusi udara dan program percepatan kendaraan listrik nasional mendorong Universitas Negeri Padang untuk mengevaluasi transisi armada operasionalnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kelayakan ekonomi penggantian kendaraan konvensional (Defender) dengan kendaraan listrik (Challenger) menggunakan metode Equivalent Uniform Annual Cost (EUAC). Hasil analisis menunjukkan efisiensi biaya signifikan pada kategori roda dua, di mana Honda Em1 e memiliki nilai EUAC sebesar Rp 41.530, jauh lebih rendah dibandingkan Honda Vario A/T sebesar Rp 2.134.090. Sebaliknya, pada kategori bus, Bus Hino terbukti masih lebih ekonomis dengan EUAC Rp 36.231.650 dibandingkan BYD K9 sebesar Rp 453.247.311. Berdasarkan perhitungan tersebut, 29 dari 36 unit kendaraan (80,5%) direkomendasikan untuk segera diganti guna mengoptimalkan anggaran operasional. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa transisi selektif ke kendaraan listrik merupakan kebijakan strategis yang mampu meningkatkan efisiensi finansial jangka panjang sekaligus mewujudkan komitmen keberlanjutan lingkungan kampus (Green Campus). The rise in air pollution and the national acceleration program for electric vehicles have prompted Padang State University to evaluate the transition of its operational fleet. This study aims to analyze the economic feasibility of replacing conventional vehicles (Defender) with electric vehicles (Challenger) using the Equivalent Uniform Annual Cost (EUAC) method. The analysis results show significant cost efficiency in the two-wheeled category, where the Honda Em1 e has an EUAC value of Rp 41,530, substantially lower than the Honda Vario A/T at Rp 2,134,090. Conversely, in the bus category, the Hino Bus remains more economical with an EUAC of Rp 36,231,650 compared to the BYD K9 at Rp 453,247,311. Based on these calculations, 29 out of 36 vehicle units (80.5%) are recommended for immediate replacement to optimize the operational budget. These findings confirm that a selective transition to electric vehicles is a strategic policy capable of improving long-term financial efficiency while fulfilling the commitment to campus environmental sustainability (Green Campus).

Abstract

Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) telah mengoperasikan prototipe mobil listrik shuttle bus untuk mendukung program green campus, namun belum memiliki dokumentasi desain sasis dalam format digital yang komprehensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan dokumentasi Computer-Aided Design (CAD) sasis melalui pendekatan reverse engineering. Penelitian menggunakan metode reverse engineering dengan pengukuran langsung terhadap dimensi sasis, meliputi panjang dan lebar total, lebar batang rangka bagian depan dan tengah-belakang, serta dimensi profil rangka utama dan dudukan lantai, yang dimodelkan menggunakan SolidWorks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model CAD memiliki deviasi dimensi maksimal 0% terhadap hasil pengukuran fisik yang menjadi acuan input pemodelan, jauh di bawah ambang batas toleransi ±2%, yang mengindikasikan ketelitian proses transkripsi dimensi ke dalam model CAD. Penelitian ini juga menghasilkan engineering drawing sesuai standar ISO 128 dan ISO 129, serta Bill of Materials (BOM) yang mengidentifikasi 3 jenis profil baja penyusun sasis: besi hollow 4x4, hollow 2x2, dan UNP 8x4. Dokumentasi ini menjadi aset teknis penting bagi pengembangan, perbaikan, dan replikasi sasis kendaraan listrik kampus ke depan. Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) has operated an electric shuttle bus prototype supporting its green campus program, but lacks comprehensive digital chassis design documentation. This study aims to produce Computer-Aided Design (CAD) chassis documentation through a reverse engineering approach. The research applies a reverse engineering approach with direct measurement of chassis dimensions: overall length and width, frame member width at front and middle-rear sections, and profile dimensions of the main frame and floor-mounting frame, then modeled in SolidWorks. Results show the CAD model has a maximum deviation of 0% from the physical measurements used as modeling input, well below the ±2% tolerance threshold, indicating the accuracy of the dimensional transcription process into the CAD model. The study also produced ISO 128/129-compliant engineering drawings and a Bill of Materials (BOM) identifying three steel profile types: 4x4 hollow, 2x2 hollow, and UNP 8x4 channel steel. This documentation is an important technical asset for future development, repair, and replication of campus electric vehicle chassis.
