Abstract

This study is about a comparative study between the dialect of West Simeule and Middle Simeulu. The aim of this study is to find out the differences between the dialects of west Simeulue and middle Simeulue.The subject of this study is all of the utterances of West Simeulue and Middle Simeulue dialects. While the sample of the study is taken from twenty adult informants who are native speakers form the two dialects. The data needed are collected through interview. Meanwhile the data gotten are analyzed by describing the difference between dialects which are used by people of West Simeulu and Middle Simuelu. The result of the study shows that there are three different dialects that are used in West Simeulu and Middle Simeulu; differences in morphology, differences in preposition, differences in vocabulary.

Abstract

The researcher discusses about the strategy of teaching and learning Process that is done by a teacher. The strategy is the ability of a teacher to design the learning environment and the talents of its students become better, focused, and organized so that time can be used efficiently. This research aims (1) to find out how the teaching and learning process of reading skill is applied by the English teachers of Mathayum Islam Bachok Wittaya School is, and (2) to find out how the impact of the strategy that is applied by English teachers Mathayum Islam Bachok Wittaya for the students’ ability in mastering reading texts is. The design used in this research is descriptive research. Thus, this research belongs to qualitative research because only describes the strategy that is used by the teachers in conducting teaching and learning process of reading skill at the school. The subjects of this research were two teachers who teach English. The instruments that was used to collect data were observation, interview, and documentation. The data gotten was analyzed by narration procedure and discussion. The result of research showed the teachers used to use various strategies that aimed to make the students not bored. Although the teachers used to use various strategies, the teachers usually used jigsaw technique in teaching and learning process. The strategy that was applied the teachers of Mathayum Islam Bachok Wittaya School in teaching and learning process of reading skill was effective. Thus, the strategy that was used by the teachers had a good impact for the students’ ability in mastering reading text. It was proven that the students’ average score in mastering reading skill after teaching in learning process was 80 and it was higher than the standard score. Meanwhile, the standard score of reading skill was 75 at the school.

Abstract

Abstract The purposes of this research are (1) to find out how the students’ ability of English department of training and teacher educational faculty of Serambi Mekkah University in identifying dependent and independent clauses in sentences is and (2) to find out the factors that influence the students ‘ ability of English department of training and teacher educational faculty of Serambi Mekkah University confuse in identifying dependent and independent clauses in sentences. The method used is descriptive analysis. Data needed are gotten through test. The data gotten are analyzed by analyzing and discussing. The result of the study shows that the students’ ability in identifying dependent and independent clauses in sentences is in sufficient category because the students’ average score is 57.43. Thus the students’ ability in identifying dependent and independent clauses in sentences is not satisfying. Next, many students are still confused to construct adjective clause, noun clause, and adverbial clause because there are so many conjunctions that are different in their use in constructing the dependent clauses. Therefore, the students still get difficulties to indentify dependent and independent clauses in sentences.

Abstract

Adapun fokus utama ulasan ini adalah menggambarkan secara deskriptif dan holistik tentang pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis ICT untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa menengah atas (SMA) dalam bahasa Inggris secara menyeluruh. ICT sangat berperan penting dalam pengembangan metode pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan tujuan untuk memperbaiki atau menyempurnakan kondisi prestasi siswa kususnya siswa SMA. Diharapkan pengembangan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berbasis ICT dapat menghasilkan model pengajaran yang tepat dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMA. Selanjutnya, melalui produk pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis ICT diharapkan mampu mengubah perilaku hidup dan pola berpiki para siswa secara positif sehingga tercipta berbagai perilaku dan pola berpikir, misalnya, perilaku tidak mau tertinggal, ingin cepat, toleran, berpikir kritis, dan kreatif. Oleh sebab itu, penggunaan teknologi informasi yang tepat merupakan suatu keterampilan yang sangat diperlukan dalam pengembangan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris untuk saat ini.

Abstract

Intellectual intelligence (IQ) and spiritual intelligence (SQ) is an energetic source which completes each other. Both contribute and ply an important role to the leadership model. Therefore, this research was conducted based on the fact that IQ and SQ were needed to form an effective leadership model. In getting the quality of education which tends to increase the human quality in Indonesia especially in Kota Batu, it is also considered by headmaster as one of the main factors which influences the success of increasing education quality. This research is aimed to know how much contribution IQ and SQ to the effectiveness of leadership model of the SMA headmasters in Kota Batu. The population number of this research is 291 teachers of SMA in Kota Batu. According to the Krejcie table, there should be 165 samples. Data collection for the sample used the assessment instrument of IQ, SQ, and the leadership model effectiveness used questionnaire. The analysis technique used is descriptive and double regression techniques. The result of the research shows that (1) there is a significant positive correlation between the IQ and SQ to the headmaster's leadership model with the contribution of 46.5%, (2) the IQ has a positive contribution to the leadership model effectiveness of SMA in Kota Batu as much as 21.39%, and (3) SQ has a positive contribution to the leadership model effectiveness of SMA in Kota Batu as much as 25.11%. Abstrak Kecerdasan Intelektual (IQ) dan kecerdasan spiritual (SQ) adala sumber sinergi yang saling melengkapi. Keduanya memberikan kontribusi yang berarti terhadap gaya kepemimpinan, sehingga penelitian ini dilandasi oleh kenyataan bahwa masalah kecerdasan intelektual (IQ) dan kecerdasan spiritual (SQ) sangat dibutuhkan untuk membentuk gaya kepemimpinan yang efektif. Dalam rangka mewujudkan kualitas pendidikan di Indonesia khususnya di Kota Batu dalam kaitanya dengan sumber daya manusia (SDM), juga ditentukan oleh kepala sekolah sebagai salah satu faktor utama keberhasilan peningkatan mutu pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kontribusi kecerdasan intelektual (IQ) dan kecerdasan spiritual (SQ) terhadap gaya kepimpinan kepala sekola di Kota Batu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh guru SMA yang ada di Kota Batu yang berjumla 291 orang sementara sampel yang diambil berjumla 165 orang yang didasari pada tabel krejcie. Pengumpulan data pada sampel menggunakan instrumen berupa angket. Teknis analaisis yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis deskeptif dan teknik analisis regresi ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara kecerdasan intelektual (IQ) dan kecerdasan spiritual (SQ) kepala SMA di Kota Batu terhadap gaya kepemimpinannya dengan kontribusi 46,5%, (2) Kecerdasan inteletual memiliki kontribusi (sumbangan efektif) terhadap gaya kepemimpinan kepala SMA di Kota Batu sebesar21,39%, dan (3) kecerdasan spiritual (SQ) kepemimpinan memiliki kontribusi (sumbangan efektif) teradap gaya kepemimpinan kepala SMA di Kota Batu sebesar 25,11%. Abstract

Abstrak: Adapun fokus utama penelitian ini adalah menggambarkan secara deskriptif dan holistik tentang model pengajaran bahasa Inggris metode quantum teaching untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa secara menyeluruh. Penelitian ini dirancang dengan pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan, yaitu penelitian ditindak lanjuti dengan mempelajari, menyelidiki, dan memahami serta bagaimana model pengembangan metode program pengembangan dengan tujuan untuk memperbaiki atau menmyempurnakan kondisi objek yang diteliti. Sampel penelitian ini adalah guru bahasa Inggris pada SMP yang ada di Kota Banda Aceh baik swasta ataupun negeri. Untuk menghasilkan model pengajaran dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di SMP yang ada di Kota Banda Aceh.dilakukan langkah-langkah sistematis dalam bentuk proses aksi, refleksi, evaluasi, dan inovasi. Abstract

The aims of the study is to find out the kinds of errors are made by the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Lhoksukon Aceh Utara in writing narrative text and  the  most  dominant  error  made  by  the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Lhoksukon Aceh Utara in writing narrative text. The researcher applied descriptive research. The researcher describes students’ errors in writing recount text.  Therefore this research belongs to qualitative research because only describes the students’ errors in writing narrative text. The population of the research  is the whole students of the eighth grade in academic year of 2021/2022. The total amount of population is around 120 students. Meanwhile the sample of this research is the students who are taken from class VIII1 and VIII2and the total sample is 60.  Based on the finding in this research, there are 150 errors made by the students of SMP Negeri 6 Lhoksukon in writing narrative text. The errors   are classified  as  follows:  (1)  error  content  which  consists  of  (a) orientation = 17 errors, (b) events = 26 errors, (c) reorientations = 19 errors, and the total errors are 62; (2) errors in vocabulary = 15 errors, (3) errors in grammar =  51 errors, and, (4) errors in mechanics = 20 errors. Errors in content of narrative text are 62 items 42 %. Errors in vocabulary are 15 items or 10%. The occurrence of errors in grammar are 51 or 34%. Meanwhile, errors in mechanic are 20 is or .  are 14%.Key Words: Students’ Errors, Writing Narrative Text

Abstract

The research aimed to find out if the students of MTsN 2 Banda Aceh who were taught vocabulary using experiential learning got a higher score than those who were taught without experiential learning. This research was conducted using pre-experiment with one class; pre-test and post-test design. The population of this research was the eighth-grade students. The total population of this study was 114 students composed of five classes; VIII-1, VIII-2, VIII-3, and VIII-4. Every class consists of about 28 students. The sample of this research was class VIII-1 of the eighth grade because the students’ ability of this class was better than the other classes. The data were taken through the test. Then, the obtained data were analyzed by using the gain score (GS). The result of this research showed that the GS was 0.32. Meaning that there was a difference between the students’ ability in mastering vocabulary before and after teaching using experiential learning and the difference was 0.32 points or 32%. Therefore, the student’s ability in mastering vocabulary increased 32% with experiential learning. Keywords: Teaching, Learning process, Experiential learning, Vocabulary.
