Abstract

The aim of the research to find out if the use of Mediated Instruction of Text (MIT) strategy in reading skill can improve the eight grade students’ ability of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh in mastering reading skill. This research is conducted by using pre-experiment with one class; pre-test and post-test design.  The population of this research is the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh.  The total population of this study is 121 students who are composed of five classes; VIII1, VIII2, VIII3, and VIII4. Every class consists of about 30 students. Since the population was rather big thus writer takes  sample for this study. The sample of this research was class VIII1 at second grade of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh. The class consisted of 30 students. The researcher used purposive sampling technique in choosing sample. The researcher chooses the students of class VIII1 because the students’ ability of the class is better than the other classes.  The data are taken through test.  The data gotten are analyzed by using gain score (GS). The result of this research shows that Gain Score (GS) score is 0.24.  It means there is a difference between the students’ ability in mastering reading skill before and after they are taught by using MIT strategy and the difference is 0.24 points or 24%. Therefore, the students’ ability in mastering reading skill increases 0.24 points or 24% after they are taught by using MIT strategy. Based on the result of the study, the English teachers of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh should use MIT strategy in teaching reading skill because it can increase the students' ability in mastering reading skill.Key Words: Impact, Mediated Instruction of Text Strategy, Reading Skill

Abstract

The aims of this research are (1) to find out how the teachers prepares classroom management of reading instruction at the second year students of SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh, (2) to find out how classroom management of reading instruction is applied by teachers of SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh, and (3) to find out the effect of classroom management of reading instruction on the students’ ability of SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh in mastering reading comprehension. This study belongs to qualitative research because only describes the situation and condition of applying classroom management in reading instruction at the school. The subjects  this study is two English teachers who teach at the school. The instruments that are used to collect data are observation, interview, and documentation. The data gotten is analyzed by narration procedure and discussed. The result of research shows that the teachers prepare classroom management of reading instruction by preparing lesson plan, materials, and conducive environment for instruction process. Furthermore, the teachers usually apply cooperative learning “The Students Team Achievement Divisions (STAD)” technique in applying classroom management in reading instruction.  In addition,  using various methods or techniques aim to make the students not bored. The classroom management of reading instruction that the teachers apply is in effective category  because it has a good impact on the eighth grade  students’ ability in mastering reading comprehension. It is proved the students’ reading ability is in good category (77.31).Key Words: Classroom Management, Reading Instruction

Abstract

The study was aimed to find out if there is a significant difference between the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh who are taught reading comprehension by MIT strategy  and those who are taught without using MIT strategy. This study belonged to experimental study. The population of this study was all of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh in the academic year of 2017/2018. The total population was 151 students who were composed of five classes; class VIII1, class VIII2, class VIII3, class VIII4, and class VIII5. The sample of this study was taken randomly with the total of 70 students, 35 students in experimental group and 35 students in control group. Choosing class as experimental and control group was also done randomly. The data were gotten through test; pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 18.0. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference between the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh who are taught reading comprehension by using MIT strategy and those who are taught without using MIT strategy. It can be proven from the result of this study, where the result of t-test of post-test for both group was 3.07. While the result of  t-table with the level of significance 0.05 was 0.67. Thus, t-test (3.07) was greater than the t-table (0.67). Based on the result of the study, English teachers of SMP Negeri 13 Banda Aceh, especially those who teach reading comprehension, should implement MIT strategy in teaching and learning process because the implementation of the strategy can increase the students’ reading comprehension mastery.

Abstract

Online learning has been become a trend as media in teaching and learning. This digital learning media used in various levels of education, from basic to tertiary levels. This fact is not only because of Covid-19 has been taking place for some years ago, but it has been becoming innevatable teaching and learning modes nowadays. Nevetheless, for some developing countries, including Indonesia, online learning implementation still challenges. This reserach investigated teachers readiness to use those technologies devices to run classroom by using online learning. Research sample of primary school teachers were 55 Indonesian teachers.The data were analyzed using the simple percentage method. The results shows there are teachers face challeges in using online learing. I related to teachers competencies and limited online infrastructure available. These two situation need to be paid attention by schools as well the government particularly telecommunication department. Training and mentoring as well as expanded access to fast internet connection required for online teaching would be the suggestion of the study.   Keywords: Online Teaching, Online Learning, Technology Education

Abstract

Reading is one of language skill that is not easy to be mastered by students. The students always get difficulties to master reading comprehension thus they do not master reading skill. The aims of this research are to find out the difficult factors of reading comprehension that are encountered by students of SMP Negeri 1 Lhok Nibong Aceh Timur and to find out the most difficult factors that the students of SMP Negeri 1 Lhok Nibong Aceh Timur face in mastering reading comprehension. This research is conducted by using quantitative method and research design used is a quantitative description.  The population of this research is all eight grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lhok Nibong Aceh Timur.  The total subjects of this study is 96 students who are composed of for classes; VIII1, VIII2, VIII3, and VIII4. Meanwhile, the sample of this research was all students who were taken from the four classes. Thus, the technique used in taking sample was total sampling. Therefore, the total sample of this research was 96. The difficult factors of reading comprehension that are encountered by students of SMP Negeri 1 Lhok Nibong Aceh Timur are: difficulties in comprehending word or vocabulary, difficulties in comprehending sentence, difficulties in comprehending paragraph, difficulties in comprehending whole selection or content of a text,  and the other factors that make the students get difficulties in mastering reading comprehension such as such difficult to find main idea, to find the plot of a text, to find the kinds of texts, to understand English structure, and no dictionary.Key Words: Difficulties, Mastering, Reading Comprehension

Abstract

As an institution, schools are intended to produce academic graduates who have talent and character. High management standards, as well as openness, responsibility, and accountability, are characteristics of effective schools. Efficient schools serve as the best learning environments while providing high-quality teaching. In this study, the principal's initiative was carried out to support teachers and staff in improving the learning process and developing a better teaching and learning environment to achieve academic goals. The implementation of the principal's supervision, the principal's inspirational leadership, and school success are the three variables included in this study. The research was conducted through quantitative research techniques. Each variable can be explained individually thanks to this investigation. The relationship between different variables is evaluated using correlation. 36 elementary school teachers from Darul Imarah sub-district, Aceh Besar district participated in this study. The research findings show that visionary leadership has an average impact on school effectiveness of 4.44. The partial correlation coefficients for school effectiveness are 0.545 and 0.397, respectively. When compared with the principal's visionary variable, the supervisory performance of the principal has a stronger partial correlation coefficient. Substantial correlations were found between Principal Visionary Leadership (X2) 0.399, Principal Supervision Implementation (X1) 0.033, and School Effectiveness (Y) 0.00.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesulitan mahasiswa dalam belajar berbicara secara daring selama pandemi COVID-19. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Iskandar Muda semester 2 sampai semester 8. Jumlah populasi adalah 53 siswa. Karena populasi penelitian ini hanya 53 siswa maka semua mahasiswa diambil sebagai sampel penelitian ini dan sampel tersebut dinamakan total sampling atau sampel jenuh. Dengan demikian, total sampel penelitian ini adalah 53 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesulitan mahasiswa Iskandar Muda Banda Aceh dalam belajar berbicara bahasa Inggris via online adalah: (1) kesulitan dalam belajar berbicara via online karena koneksi internet yang tidak stabil, (2) kesulitan untuk lancar belajar berbicara speaking karena via online, (3) kesulitan menguasai kosa kata dalam pembelajaran berbicara speaking karena via online, (4) kesulitan menguasai tata bahasa dalam pembelajaran berbicara karena mempelajarinya via online, (5) kesulitan mengucapkan kosa kata bahasa Inggris dalam pembelajaran berbicara karena mempelajarinya via online, dan (6) kesulitan dalam berbicara via online karena kurangnya latihan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dosen harus fokus mengatasi kesulitan dengan mempersiapkan perangkat internet lebih baik sehingga koneksi internet lebih kuat, belajar berbicara melalui blended learning atau tatap muka langsung di kelas, mengajar tata bahasa Inggris kepada mahasiswa secara tatap muka, melakukan pengajaran pengucapan kosa kata bahasa Inggris secara tatap muka, dan berlatih berbicara bahasa Inggris melalui online lebih intens.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian rendahnya kierja guru di sekolah dilihat dari stres kerja, motivasi dan kepuasan kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab pertanyaan utama pengaruh stres kerja, motivasi kerja dan kepuasan kerja terhadap kinerja guru di Sekolah Dasar Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Kuantitif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat pengaruh langsung stres kerja terhadap kepuasan kerja dengan P value dibawah 0,05 dengan original sample sebesar (β) = 0,624 (62,4%), terdapat pengaruh langsung stres kerja terhadap kinerja guru dengan P value dibawah 0,05 dengan original sample sebesar (β) = 0,568 (56,8%), terdapat pengaruh tidak langsung stres kerja terhadap kinerja guru melalui kepuasan kerja dengan original sample sebesar (β) = 0,098 (9,8%), terdapat pengaruh langsung motivasi kerja terhadap kepuasan kerja dengan P value dibawah 0,05 dengan original sample sebesar (β) = 0,852 (85,2%), terdapat pengaruh langsung motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja guru dengan P value dibawah 0,05 dengan original sample sebesar (β) = 0,379 (37,9%), terdapat pengaruh tidak langsung motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja guru melalui kepuasan kerja dengan Original Sample sebesar (β) = 0,134 (13,4%) dan terdapat pengaruh langsung kepuasan kerja terhadap kinerja guru dengan P value dibawah 0,05 dengan original sampl e sebesar (β) = 0,157 (15,7%).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) untuk mengkaji bagaimana guru TK Alfitiyan menyiapkan strategi manajemen kelas pada proses bembelajaran pengucapan, (2) untuk mengkaji bagaimana guru TK Al fitiyan melakukan strategi manajemen kelas dalam proses pembelajaran pengucapan, dan (3) untuk mengkaji bagaimana guru TK Al fitiyan mengevaluasi hasil strategi manajemen kelas dalam proses pembelajaran pengucapan. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif karena hanya menggambarkan situasi dan kondisi pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran pengucapan hanya dua orang maka guru tersebut diambil sebagai subyek penelitian dan dinamakan sumber data. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan prosedur narasi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa guru menyiapkan silabus dan bahan ajar persemeter. Guru menggunakan satu metode dalam proses belajar mengajar metode latihan. Selanjutnya dalam mengevaluasi hasil proses belajar mengajar, guru mengevaluasi peserta didik dengan menggunakan satu macam tes yaitu tes proses berjalan. Tes yang dilakukan berupa secara individual. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dalam proses belajar mengajar, guru harus menekankan pengajaran cara atau metode yang cukup sesuai untuk tingkat siswa dalam belajar pengucapan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Pengaruh Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) dan Motivasi Kerja Terhadap Kinerja Guru SMP Rayon 2 Aceh Selatan. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode asosiasif. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian asosiatif ini dikarenakan ingin membutikan hubungan sebab akibat antara variabel Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) dan motivasi kerja terhadap kinerja guru SMP Rayon 2 Aceh Selatan. Hasil analisis membuktikan bahwa Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) berpengaruh secara parsial dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Motivasi kerja guru secara parsial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja guru dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,001 < 0,05. Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) dan motivasi kerja guru secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja guru dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05.
