Abstract

Islamic Religious Education and Character Development plays a vital role in shaping students’ moral foundations. Traditional teaching methods often fall short in fostering engagement and deep internalization of values. This study aims to analyze the development and implementation of H5P-based interactive media in Islamic Education at SDN 1 Sukorejo. This qualitative research employed a case study approach. Data were collected through classroom observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning artifacts. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods with triangulation of sources and techniques. The findings indicate that H5P interactive media including interactive videos, drag-and-drop tasks, and branching scenarios enhanced student engagement, supported moral reflection, and facilitated internalization of core Islamic values such as honesty and empathy. Teachers responded positively, although technical limitations and time constraints were noted during media development. Offline implementation proved effective in low-infrastructure settings. These results align with recent studies demonstrating the effectiveness of digital media in supporting Islamic character education. H5P emerges as an adaptable and engaging tool suitable for primary education, provided that teacher training, linguistic adaptation, and institutional support are in place. It represents a viable solution for modernizing Islamic moral education in the digital era.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of Plickers media on student motivation and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education (PAIBP) subjects. This research used an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design, involving class VII students at Klabang State Middle School as research subjects. The research results showed that there was a significant increase in student motivation and learning outcomes in the experimental class that used Plickers media. This is proven by the average student posttest score which is higher than the pretest, as well as the Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.00, which indicates a statistically significant difference. Media Plickers provides a learning experience that is interactive, interesting, and motivates students to learn better. These results are consistent with previous research which shows the effectiveness of Plickers media in improving student learning outcomes. This research recommends the use of Plickers media as an innovative learning alternative in improving the quality of education.

Abstract

The effective implementation of thematic learning in Social Studies (IPS) at the junior secondary level requires teachers to possess interdisciplinary knowledge and advanced pedagogical skills. This study explores competency gaps among Social Studies teachers without formal Social Sudies qualifications in Lumajang Regency, Indonesia, and examines how these gaps affect thematic learning delivery. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through non-participant observations, structured questionnaires, and in-depth interviews with 30 teachers from SMP and MTs schools. The findings reveal significant disparities in subject matter expertise, instructional design, and classroom management, with only 50% of teachers meeting competency standards for thematic Social Studies teaching. Key factors underlying these gaps include diverse academic backgrounds, limited understanding of the thematic curriculum, and insufficient engagement in professional development activities. The study highlights the urgent need for targeted capacity-building programs, continuous professional learning opportunities, and collaborative teacher networks to bridge competency deficiencies. Furthermore, policy interventions are recommended to standardize teacher qualifications and support sustained professional growth. Addressing these challenges can improve the quality of thematic Social Studies instruction and improve student learning outcomes. This study provides an empirical foundation and policy recommendations for improving teacher competence within the context of an integrated curriculum which can be utilized by education stakeholders in Indonesia and in similar settings.

Abstract

The independent curriculum is a post-pandemic curriculum dream where the learning crisis is a multidimensional problem that cannot be solved by curriculum changes alone. The learning crisis can only be overcome by systemic changes. And that is what the Ministry of Education and Culture is now doing through a series of Merdeka Belajar policies in the independent curriculum. It has several principles, one of which was flexibility. This means that the school can implement this curriculum based on the environment. But this curriculum was very new when implemented by the teacher. The purpose of this study is to conceptually describe the Merdeka curriculum which is gradually implemented in MI Unggulan Nuris in grades 1 and 4 and will be implemented nationally in 2024. Descriptive qualitative research method of field research type is used as a research method. Data collection is done by interview, observation, and documentation methods. Data analysis used data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the research results, this curriculum can be applied in various fields. One teacher who prepared the independent curriculum attended training on curriculum for educational institutions. Based on interviews with teachers at Nuris Jember's madrasah ibtidaiyah, they responded enthusiastically to this curriculum although there are still shortcomings in its application. We hope that this implemented curriculum can achieve the goals in education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Inclusive education aims to provide equal access to education for all students, including  those  with  special  needs,  in  a  friendly  and  supportive  learning environment. This study was conducted at SDS Ulul Albab, Jember Regency, with the aim of analyzing opportunities and barriers in the implementation of inclusive education in one particular local context. The research approach used was qualitative with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth  interviews,  participant  observation,  and  document  analysis  from schools  that  implement  the  inclusive  education  model.  The  results  of  the study indicate that the main opportunities in the implementation of inclusive education  include  government  policy  support,  teacher  commitment,  and community  participation.  However,  significant  obstacles  were  also  found, such as the lack of facilities that support the needs of students with special needs, limited teacher competence, and the existence of social stigma against inclusive students. This study concludes that the implementation of inclusive education  requires  a  collaborative  approach  between  the  government, schools,  and  the  community  to  overcome  obstacles  and  maximize opportunities.  These  findings  provide  practical  recommendations  for stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of inclusive education at the local level.
