Abstract

Many schools have shifted their learning mode from face to face to fully online in order to reduce virus transmission and avoid learning loss, resulting in accelerated use of the learning management system (LMS). The implementation of online learning over the last 3 years in Indonesia needs to be evaluated. However, the available evaluation scales are in different cultural contexts. Therefore, the existing scales should be adapted. This study aims to adapt and report the psychometric properties of the Hexagonal E-Learning Assessment Model (HELAM) scale in the context of Indonesian culture. The adaptation followed the procedure suggested by Beaton. To achieve a measurement accuracy of up to 0.5 logit at a 99% confidence level, 326 teachers taking the Teacher Professional Education (TPE) program in position program were involved. The psychometric properties of the HELAM scale were analyzed using the Rasch model to improve accuracy and observe the quality of the HELAM scale. The results of the analysis show that the HELAM scale has good psychometric properties in the context of Indonesian culture at the instrument and item level. The elements of reliability and validity have met the good criteria. Thus, the adapted HELAM scale can be applied to the Indonesian context.

Abstract

The standard of operating procedure (SOP) is a laboratory activity method and must meet the criteria of good laboratory practice (GLP) and other stipulations of valid legislation. The article aims to establish ownership/lack of the SOP of a laboratory that has a public high school laboratory in the city of Yogyakarta. It uses descriptive research. The purpose of descriptive research is to describe images systematically. The research was conducted at Yogyakarta State High School in June 2022—data collection techniques via observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The forms of the instruments used were observation sheets, interview sheets, and checklists, where the instruments had been validated. Samples in this study are random sampling, SMA A, SMA B, and SMA C. This research subject is the head of a high school biology lab in Yogyakarta. The study showed that high school biology LABS A, B, and C already had the SOP implemented, but there was still a lack of it, and this led to increased safety principles. School A has as many as 9 SOPs, school B has as many as 10 SOPs, and school C has as many as 8 SOPs. Out of all three schools, only school B had SOP malfunction of lab equipment. Presumably, school B has the most complete SOP than schools A and C.

Abstract

Self-regulation is pivotal for student success in the 21st-century learning landscape, enabling learners to effectively manage their academic goals and processes. This research investigates the impact of problem-based blended learning on students' self-regulation skills. A quasi-experimental design was employed, featuring a non-randomized control group. The experimental group was exposed to problem-based blended learning, while the control group experienced traditional face-to-face problem-based learning. The study involved 65 students from SMA Negeri 1 Prambanan, with self-regulation assessed through a closed questionnaire addressing nine key indicators. Data analysis revealed no significant difference in self-regulation between the control and experimental groups; however, the experimental group showed better outcomes. This group's higher performance in self-regulation was attributed to the flexible, interactive, and time-independent nature of blended learning, which fosters better time management, environmental structuring, and goal-setting among students. The findings underscore the potential of problem-based blended learning to enhance students' self-regulatory capacities, ultimately contributing to improved academic achievement and the development of essential 21st-century skills.
