Utilizing data from Scopus, this research analyzes publication trends, authorship contributions, and international collaborations in the field of school swimming education. The results reveal a significant increase in the number of publications, particularly over the last six years, indicating a growing awareness of swimming education's importance as an integral part of school curricula for safety, physical fitness, and character development. Key authors, including Kevin Moran and Amy E. Peden, were found to contribute substantially to the literature, particularly on water safety and swimming skills. The United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom emerged as leading contributors, with the U.S. positioned as a central node in international collaboration networks. Furthermore, keyword analysis highlighted themes such as “swimming education,” “water safety,” and “physical health,” underscoring the focus on skill development and student safety.Overall, this study highlights the critical role of swimming education in forming resilient, health-conscious young individuals and underscores the need for policies that support accessible swimming programs in schools globally. These findings provide a foundation for further research and policy-making aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and reach of swimming education in educational settings worldwide.

Abstract

Athletes' success in achieving optimal performance is not solely dependent on physical and technical abilities but is also influenced by psychological factors such as motivation and mental toughness. This study aims to examine the relationship between motivation and mental toughness in relation to the performance of Taekwondo athletes in Bandung City. Using a correlational quantitative method with 36 respondents, the study employed the Sport Motivation Scale (SMS-28) and the Sport Mental Toughness Questionnaire (SMTQ). The analysis revealed that motivation has a significant positive relationship with athletic performance, with higher motivation increasing the likelihood of achieving optimal results. Mental toughness also contributes significantly to performance, although its impact is somewhat weaker than motivation. Motivation provides the primary drive for athletes to continue training, face challenges, and maintain consistency in competition. Mental toughness enables athletes to stay focused under pressure, manage stress, and recover from setbacks, thereby supporting optimal performance. The results indicate that a combination of strong motivation and high mental toughness is a key factor in athletes' success. Support from coaches, families, and mental strength programs is crucial for optimizing both of these factors. This study offers valuable insights into the psychological aspects affecting athlete performance and suggests the development of interventions based on motivation and mental toughness to enhance the performance of Taekwondo athletes

Abstract

Eating disorders are prevalent among athletes, impacting their physical and psychological health. This study examines the influence of psychosocial factors—specifically stress and social support—on eating disorders among senior and junior athletes. A descriptive quantitative approach was used, with taekwondo athletes from SLOMPN UPI and the West Java Taekwondo Team selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using three validated questionnaires: the Eating Disorder Screen for Athletes (EDS-A), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and the Athletes Received Support Questionnaire. Statistical analysis, including Two-Way ANOVA and descriptive statistics, was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25. Results showed a significant impact of psychosocial factors on eating disorders for both senior and junior athletes (p < 0.05). Senior athletes exhibited higher mean scores for eating disorders (20.53), stress (33.62), and social support (70.14) compared to junior athletes, who had mean scores of 18.94, 28.91, and 64, respectively. Despite receiving more social support, senior athletes experienced higher stress levels, which correlated with a greater risk of eating disorders. Conversely, junior athletes with lower stress levels showed a reduced risk of eating disorders, highlighting the importance of strong social support networks. These findings suggest that interventions should focus on enhancing social support and stress management tailored to different age groups. Future research should explore gender differences in psychosocial factors affecting eating disorders to develop more targeted interventions.

Abstract

This bibliometric study investigates the critical role of social support in school sports, emphasizing its impact on students' personal development and engagement. Drawing on a comprehensive analysis of 2,245 articles published from 2014 to 2024, this research identifies emerging trends, influential authors, and key publications in the field. Findings reveal that participation in school sports enhances not only physical fitness but also emotional, cognitive, and social skills, ultimately contributing to life satisfaction and academic success. The analysis highlights the significance of a supportive network—including family, peers, and educators—in fostering positive outcomes for young athletes. Despite the growing interest in this area, gaps in the literature regarding the longitudinal evolution of social support in school sports are evident, necessitating further exploration of its dynamics across diverse cultural contexts. The study also presents a keyword cluster analysis that delineates two primary themes: methodological approaches and participant characteristics, shedding light on prevailing research foci. This research underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among educators, policymakers, and researchers to prioritize social support within school sports frameworks, thereby enhancing the educational experience and promoting holistic development among students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the implementation of the restorative justice approach in the context of sports law as an alternative dispute resolution involving ethical and moral violations by athletes. The research method uses a qualitative approach through literature studies and case analysis, this study identifies how penal mediation can be an instrument to realize the values of sportsmanship and athlete morality. The data in this study were obtained through three data collection methods, namely literature studies of regulations, academic literature, and documentation of sports conflict cases carried out by referring to the principles of systematic literature review. Then the data analysis uses thematic analysis methods involving several stages, namely familiarization with data, initial coding, identification of potential themes, review of themes, definition and naming of themes, to report production. The results of the study indicate that the restorative justice approach through penal mediation has significant potential in overcoming sports conflicts by facilitating dialogue, accountability, and rehabilitation, while strengthening the values of sportsmanship, so that it is able to answer the need for a more just, humanistic, and contextual conflict resolution mechanism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the influence of pedagogical values in paragliding sport on resilience building. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study involved 87 paragliding athletes (64% male, 36% female) with an age range of 18-35 years. Quantitative data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), while qualitative data was obtained through in-depth interviews with 15 athletes and 5 coaches. The results showed that all five pedagogical values had a significant influence on resilience formation, with emotional control having the strongest influence (β = 0.423, p < 0.001), followed by courage (β = 0.412, p < 0.001), discipline (β = 0.378, p < 0.001), responsibility (β = 0.345, p < 0.001), and cooperation (β = 0.287, p = 0.002). The five values explained 72.4% of the variation in resilience. The Pedagogical Pathway of Paragliding illustrates the gradual process of resilience formation through three phases: Foundation Phase (discipline and responsibility), Development Phase (courage and cooperation), and Integration Phase (emotional control). Qualitative findings revealed that 93% of respondents reported transformative experiences through paragliding that changed the way they perceived challenges, and 87% reported applying the values learned in their life context.
