Abstract

The phenomenon of power in Yogyakarta attracted the attention of various groups, including the national media when differences of opinion emerged regarding the requirements for candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor candidates of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The Governor of Yogyakarta is directly held by the Sultan as the King of the Yogyakarta Palace in accordance with the Yogyakarta Privileges Law. The problem arose when Sultan HB X did not have a son, and some parties interpreted the special law and regional regulations requiring that the governor of Yogyakarta be held, male. This problem has attracted the national media to produce news texts related to the pros and cons of women leaders in Yogyakarta. This research intends to uncover how the national media of Kompas daily constructs discourses on the rejection of female leaders and how the struggle for public acceptance or ideological ideas related to leadership succession in Yogyakarta. With a qualitative approach, the method used in this study is Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis model. News texts related to the issue of leadership succession were analyzed starting from the text level, discourse level, and sociocultural level. The results of the study found that the production of the Kompas daily news text in practice represents a group that rejects female leaders in Yogyakarta. Local political elites in parliament, Keraton aristocrats, and Sultan HB X mutually defend their views on women's rights to become leaders in Yogyakarta. Kompas Daily provides a space for discourse on the issue of women's rejection to represent their side of those who reject women leaders

Abstract

The challenges of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) today are getting higher. The development of digital technology that continues to be present certainly adds to the excitement of MSMEs themselves to continue to survive and continue to innovate. One of the interesting things, residents of the Ujung Berung Transit Apartment, especially young mothers, also participate in the development of MSMEs in Indonesia, especially in West Java. It's just that there are still many opportunities and gaps that have not been utilized, especially in relation to digital optimization, which needs to be highlighted in developing the capabilities of the UMKM actors of the Ujung Berung Transit Apartment. Through an approach in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) conducted to map the problems that occur in the Ujung Berung Transit Apartment, it is certainly a provision and foundation in conducting many programs and training for future community service, especially in relation to the use and optimization of social media. This will later be useful to equip the UMKM players of the Ujung Berung Transit Apartment to be literate in digital marketing and be able to spread their wings to a wider area without being hindered by place and location.

Abstract

Communication mediated by social media presents content creators who have many followers who are then often called influencers. This study seeks to analyze the contributions of influencers who should act and be responsible as individuals who can convey public opinion through digital platforms. The researcher uses a qualitative research method with a critical discourse analysis approach to dismantle and reveal how influencers are strongly committed to spreading positive discourse as a form of responsibility as part of social change agents in the digital world. The object of the study is YouTube content from the accounts of Ria Ricis, Atta Halilintar, and Frost Diamond, which represent significant influencers in Indonesia. Researchers found that three significant influencers in Indonesia have not been able to carry out their duties as agents of social change. There are three reasons why influencers in this study are unable to carry out their duties and responsibilities as social change agents, namely the absence of a clear definition of the role of influencers as social change agents, the lack of understanding of influencers regarding their social responsibilities as social change agents, and the absence of an operational model that explains the concrete steps taken by influencers as effective social agents. This study provides recommendations on the duties and responsibilities of influencers as agents of social change in a model that the researcher calls the Content Development Model. This model consists of four main stages at the concept level (Input, Process, Output, and Outcome) and six execution stages at the technical level (Content Created, Interaction Distribution, Formation of Discourse, Change in Attitude and Behaviour, Collective Action and Social Change). This Content Development Model explains how influencers must produce content by considering positive social issues as agents of social change in society.

Abstract

The Covid-19 outbreak started in March 2020, and the Indonesian government has taken a long time to respond to it. With different ambiguous statements, public leaders contributed to the disruption of knowledge concerning the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the communication strategy of Indonesia’s government in response to the early Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020. This study uses a qualitative method that analyzes news text from online media. The data collection technique in this research is a literature study. The source of this research data comes from statements by four Indonesian ministers regarding the Covid-19 outbreak from online media. The goal of this study is to understand the narrative in online media concerning Indonesian public officials' response to COVID-19 by analyzing the word frequency using NVIVO 12 Plus software. Findings from this study indicate that numerous issues with the utilization and dissemination of information about the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrate a lack of maturity and caution on the part of the government and media. Indonesia’s government could not provide excellent and precise information that followed the community's expectations regarding the pandemic. Indonesian public officials contributed to misinformation regarding the Covid-19 epidemic when dealing with the pandemic by providing ambiguous, incorrect, and misleading information.

Abstract

Financial performance analysis is used to look at how good financial performance is by observing the correct financial performance provisions. The study deals with buying and selling financing (X_1) and profit sharing financing (X_2) on the financial performance of Islamic commercial banks (BUS). The study uses Return on Equity (Y) as a measure of financial performance. This research approach is quantitative with the aim of examining the impact of buying and selling financing as well as the results on BUS performance. The sampling method uses purposive sampling. Samples that met the standards were 12 BUS samples within 5 years from 2016 to 2020. The research used the E-Views application. The information analysis used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study are (1) Buying and selling financing affects the profitability of Return On Equity (ROE). (2) Profit sharing financing affects ROE profitability. (3) Buying and selling financing and profit sharing financing jointly affect ROE profitability. Buying and selling financing and profit sharing financing affect ROE profitability, meaning that if buying and selling financing and profit sharing channeled by BUS continue to increase, ROE profitability also increases. Therefore, Islamic commercial banks should continue to increase the distribution of buying and selling financing and profit sharing financing to the public.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the discourse network surrounding the Tabungan Perumahan Rakyat (Tapera) program in online media coverage. Using the Discourse Network Analysis (DNA) method, the research examines the relationships among entities, concepts, and arguments presented in news coverage published between May 27, 2024, and June 10, 2024. A total of 16 articles from nine online media platforms were analyzed, resulting in the identification of 22 concepts and 33 actors actively involved in the discussion. The findings reveal two major groups: supporters and opponents of the Tapera program. Government actors predominantly support the initiative, while political parties and non-governmental organizations express resistance. The study highlights key issues such as program benefits, concerns about forced participation, and transparency. By mapping the discursive dynamics, this research provides valuable insights into how media shapes public opinion and perception of housing policy. The findings underscore the need for enhanced public communication and in-depth policy evaluation to ensure successful implementation. Abstract

Background: The reason for this research is the rise of hate speech attributed to the rigid concept of traditional masculinity, which leads to toxic masculinity. In addition, there are limited Public Service Advertisements in Indonesia that discuss biased concepts of masculinity. Therefore, public service advertisements on sexual harassment and masculinity produced by Indonesian government agencies, the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, such as “#GerakBersama – Ini Gak Lucu” are interesting to analyze further. Purpose: This study examined how masculinity is represented and the message conveyed in the public service advertisement “#GerakBersama – Ini Gak Lucu”. Methods: To see the representation of masculinity and the message, the public service advertisement was divided into several scenes analyzed using Roland Barthes’ semiotics based on primary and secondary meanings. Results: The study found that the public service advertisement “#GerakBersama - Ini Gak Lucu” is intended to introduce a new concept of masculinity, that a man can still embody masculinity even when performing a beautiful and gentle dance. Conclusion: In this public advertisement, masculinity is also portrayed as men who dare to speak up, demonstrate loyalty, and support one another. Implications: Further research is required to assess the advertisement’s effectiveness in reshaping the social perception of masculinity in Indonesian, specifically whether they hold the traditional perception of masculinity or embrace this new perspective.

Abstract

Abstract                                                                                                This article discusses the virtual pakeliran of wayang kulit purwa during the Covid19 pandemic. The pandemic has forced puppeteers to continue to exist in the midst of society along with strict government restrictions. The presence of virtual pakeliran is an innovation created by the puppeteers as a solution to this problem. This article pays special attention to how a virtual pakeliran is created so that it is still accepted by the public. The material object chosen is the virtual pakeliran presented by Ki Purbo Asmoro and Ki Cahyo Kuntadi which is tracked through Youtube live streaming documentation. The concept used as a framework for analysis is the concept of Surakarta-style pakeliran garap, which consists of four elements of garap, namely the play, catur, sabet, and karawitan/ pakeliran accompaniment.  In addition, the post-structuralism approach is used as a perspective to see the form, function, and meaning of virtual pakeliran. The research method used is descriptive analytical through observation data on the documentation of virtual wayang performances. The virtual pakeliran during the Covid-19 pandemic shows the adjustment of the play to the phenomena that occurred, with a meaning that leads to hope and goodness. The form of virtual pakeliran tends to be packaged with a solid work presented through the use of streaming technology. This means that solid work affects various elements, including the work of the play, catur, sabet, and accompaniment. The collaboration process between conventional, concise, and compact arrangements results in an adaptive, responsive, and communicative virtual pakeliran. Virtual pakeliran functions as a creative space for puppeteers and entertainment media for the public during the pandemic. The important meaning in virtual pakeliran is in the form of hopes and prayers for a better life.
