Abstract

This research explores the implementation of Arabic language learning at the Maitreechit Withayattan School in Bangkok, Thailand. With a population dominated by a Muslim minority, this research aims to understand the challenges and potential for developing Arabic language education in this context. The research background reflects Thailand's uniqueness as an ASEAN country with a Muslim minority that is recognized and regulated by national law. The focus of the research is on issues of student interest, teaching methods, hidden learning goals, and the role of teachers in the learning process. The research method uses modern ethnographic studies at Maitrechit Wittaayathan School Bangkok. Research findings show that students' low interest is influenced by less innovative teaching methods and a need for more variety in learning. Hidden learning goals, which include students' political aspirations to support the position of Muslims in government, become a complex dynamic in Arabic language learning. The importance of Arabic in the government context was a significant finding, with students being taught that Arabic language skills can provide a competitive advantage in careers in the government sector. Despite challenges regarding student interest, school administrators' high enthusiasm for Arabic creates the potential for solid collaboration between education and religious identity development. Implications for Arabic language education management include the need for more exciting learning strategies, teacher training, and collaboration with external parties to increase the relevance of learning to careers. This research provides in-depth insight into the complex dynamics of Arabic language education in Muslim minority school environments in Thailand. However, it should be acknowledged that the research findings are limited to one school in Bangkok, and generalization of the findings must be done cautiously.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explain communication language factors to improve a healthy environment in an Urban School Climate (USC). This research also reviews the USC definition and why communication language is so important in improving a healthy environment in schools. The research method used was a mixed method with a sequential exploratory strategy approach, data collection was carried out by conducting interviews and distributing questionnaires via Google Forms to students in junior high schools, Bogor. Qualitative data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model and using of NVIVO 12 software, while quantitative data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistical analysis with the help of SPSS version 22.0. The research results show that communication language is important to improve a healthy environment in Urban School Climate (USC) which is described by 4 dimensions, namely 1) a safe environment, 2) teacher support, 3) individual social relationships and 4) family atmosphere. Arabic-based communication language styles, namely qaulan baligha, qaulan maysura, qaulan layyinan, qaulan ma'arufan and qaulan kariman can be used as communication language strategies to improve a healthy environment in schools. The impact of the results of this research is that teachers and students see the importance of using good communication language so that they are accustomed to using Arabic-based communication language styles to support the creation of a good USC characterized by a healthy environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain language education development research for improving student comprehension in learning science. This study also reviews the definition of these strategies, identifies factors that contribute to improving students' comprehension, and conducts a computational bibliometric review analysis to determine the efficacy of these approaches using Google Scholar with keywords "Language" and "Learning Science" from 2019 to 2023. There are also explanations for formal and informal learning, as well as educational levels for researching techniques and developing curriculum. The use of technology in media and laboratories is also a significant factor in increasing students' literacy and language impact. Language and student characteristics, motivation, teacher-student relationships, therapy, and psychological conditions are all inextricably linked. We also included information about language barriers for students with special needs, as well as new technologies that improve language learning, in which these can be factors in increasing student’s understanding of learning science. The bibliometric analysis results show that the trend of language research in learning science is decreasing year after year. This is due to the possibility that the focus of educational research has shifted to other areas, such as educational technology, science learning, or educational policy. The co-occurrence analysis results show several keywords that are frequently researched and should be paid attention to, including "language model," "natural language processing," "deep learning," "student," and "language learning." These keywords denote important parameters that can improve the learning experience because they enable personalized, interactive, adaptive educational interventions, particularly in language learning contexts, by adapting content and feedback to each student's needs and preferences. This paper will be useful to educators in better understanding the current state of affairs concerning the importance of language in engineering teaching and learning.

Abstract

The growth and development of Islamic religious education are critical for strengthening educational quality in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the growth dynamics of Islamic education through the increase in the number of schools, teachers, and madrasah aliyah students, providing insights for educational improvement. Using a descriptive approach, data were collected through Google Scholar using Publish or Perish software, covering 947 articles from 2018 to 2023, supplemented by secondary data via literature reviews. Data analysis utilized Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer software, with confirmability testing ensuring data validity. Findings indicate a steady increase in madrasah aliyah schools, with an additional 311 schools in 2022 and 372 in 2023. Teacher numbers also grew significantly, with an increase of 3,747 teachers in 2022 and 18,573 in 2023. Despite a decline in student numbers by 17,259 in 2022, student enrollment rebounded with an increase of 40,408 in 2023. This dynamic growth in schools and teachers reflects a rising demand for educational resources, driven by higher enrollment opportunities. The study suggests that harnessing Indonesia’s demographic bonus through targeted strategies could optimize educational outcomes, supporting the vision of "Indonesia Emas"

The study utilized bibliometric methods, including publication, authorship, and citation analysis, and employed VOSviewer software to map the bibliometric data. The analysis revealed 996 scientific publications related to quality assurance and Islamic Education, yielding 6,139 citations and 125 interconnection thresholds. Key terms with strong interconnections include “school,” “private school,” “education,” “Indonesia,” and “student.” Notably, no prior studies have applied bibliometric mapping to explore quality assurance in Islamic boarding schools, highlighting this study’s novel contribution. The findings emphasize the importance of pesantren institutions in preserving local wisdom and their role in nation-building. This research has significant implications for Islamic Education, particularly in urging policymakers to strengthen government policies that enhance the quality and relevance of Education in Islamic boarding schools, ensuring their continued contribution to national development.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the techno-economics of plastic waste into ecobrick products from a Collaborative Governance perspective. The research method used is to carry out an economic feasibility analysis of ecobrick production from plastic waste over 20 years, by carrying out an analysis from various points of view. The research results show that the production of ecobricks from plastic waste is economically feasible if it is produced for 20 years. This is proven by the technical analysis of the conversion of 135 tons of plastic waste per year to produce 90,000 ecobricks with a total production cost per bottle of USD 0.308 at a selling price of 0.617. However, when production started, there were quite large losses due to equipment and raw materials, reaching negative values of -1000. Even so, in the third year, there was a relatively stable increase until it reached an increase in cumulative net profit every year. Thus, analytical calculations show the potential for significant profits by achieving the break-even point (BEP). However, fluctuations in raw material prices and operational costs can affect profitability, so there is a need for collaborative governance involvement from the government sector in policies on the use of plastic waste and providing financial assistance to the community as waste producers and the private sector as producers. Therefore, this research will have an impact on the government's goal of achieving environmental cleanliness by creating ecobricks and creating profit opportunities for the community and entrepreneurs/private parties. This study also supports current issues in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
