Abstract

Background: Postpartum haemorrhage in general is defined as blood loss from the body in the amount of 500 ml after vaginal delivery or 1000 ml after cesarian section. Every year it is estimated that there are 140.000 mother’s death caused by PPH or every 4 minutes 1 death occurs worldwide caused by PPH.  According to WHO 99% of all maternal deaths occur in developing countries due to postpartum hemorrhage. Based on data obtained in 2020, the MMR in Indonesia is 305 per 100,000 live births.Purpose: to find out the factors affecting haemorrhage occurrence on postpartum mother based on the results of previous research.Method: Scoping review using databases: Google Schoolar, PubMed, and ProQuest. The keywords used in the literature search are “Factor”, “Postpartum haemorrhage”, “maternity”. The searching results were 7 articles which fulfilled the criteria. The 7 articles then were analyzed by using The Joana Briggs Institute and synthesis method using PEOS modificationResults: Out of 99 articles with relevant title and abstract, obtained 7 articles which fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Four factors were found, which are; perineal tear, anemia, placental complications, and uterine atony which affects the haemorrhage on postpartum mother. Conclusion: There are four most frequent factors occurring which affect the occurrence of postpartum haemorrhage namely birth canal tear, anemia factor, placental complication, and uterine atony. Those factors can cause and continuously increase haemorrhage which can lead to maternal mortality rate.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women remains an important maternal health problem, particularly in low- and middle-income settings. CED is associated with inadequate nutritional intake and may contribute to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of its determinants, impacts, and management strategies is needed. Methods: This study used a scoping review design guided by the PRISMA-ScR framework and the PCC (Population, Concept, Context) approach. Literature was searched in PubMed, Wiley Online Library, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect for Indonesian- and English-language articles published between 2020 and 2025. The study selection process was conducted using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and managed using Rayyan. Of 665 records initially identified, 44 duplicates were removed, and 10 studies were included in the final review. Results: Four major themes were identified: (1) risk factors for CED in pregnant women, including age, socioeconomic conditions, dietary intake, and infectious diseases; (2) the impact of CED on pregnancy and infant health, such as low birth weight, prematurity, and maternal complications; (3) nutritional interventions for CED management, including nutrition education, supplementation, and local food-based supplementary feeding; and (4) prevention strategies through public health policies and community-based support. Conclusion: The evidence indicates that CED in pregnant women is influenced by multidimensional factors and requires integrated prevention and management strategies. Nutrition education, supplementation, local food utilization, and stronger policy implementation are essential to improve maternal nutritional status and pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Postpartum maternal complications remain a significant public health concern, particularly in developing countries. The Continuity of Care (CoC) model is a comprehensive midwifery care approach that provides continuous services from pregnancy through childbirth and the postpartum period and has been suggested as a strategy to improve maternal health outcomes. Objective: This scoping review aimed to map and evaluate the evidence regarding the implementation of Continuity of Care in reducing postpartum maternal complications and to identify factors influencing its implementation. Method: This scoping review followed the Arksey and O’Malley framework enhanced by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology. Literature searches were conducted across several electronic databases using predefined keywords and Boolean operators. Studies were selected based on established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were extracted using a standardized form, and methodological quality was assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Tools. Reporting followed the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Result: Eight studies met the inclusion criteria. Six studies reported a reduction in postpartum complications or improved postpartum health outcomes among women receiving CoC services, while five studies found increased maternal satisfaction and better utilization of postpartum care services. Four studies identified continuity and competency of healthcare providers as key facilitators of successful implementation. Additional enabling factors included effective communication, adequate resources, and supportive health policies. Common barriers reported across the studies were workforce shortages, high workloads, and inconsistent policy implementation. Conclusion: The available evidence suggests that Continuity of Care may contribute to improved postpartum outcomes and maternal satisfaction. However, variations in study design and implementation contexts limit definitive conclusions regarding its effectiveness. Strengthening healthcare workforce capacity, ensuring adequate resources, and enhancing policy support may facilitate more effective implementation of Continuity of Care, particularly in developing countries.

Abstract

Background: The maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Timor-Leste remains among the highest in Southeast Asia and continues to pose a significant public health challenge, particularly during the third trimester of pregnancy. Birth Planning and Complication Prevention (P4K) programs are essential strategies to reduce preventable maternal complications and improve birth preparedness. Method: A scoping review was conducted following the PRISMA-ScR framework. The review process included five stages: identifying the research question, searching relevant literature, selecting eligible studies, charting data, and summarizing and reporting the findings. Articles were retrieved from major databases and included studies published between 2016 and 2025 that examined BPCR/P4K implementation in pregnant women. Result: The findings indicate that birth preparedness is influenced by multiple determinants, including individual factors (maternal knowledge, parity, and pregnancy intention), social support from family and community, and the quality of antenatal care (ANC) services. In addition, effective detection and monitoring of obstetric risks during the third trimester play a critical role in improving preparedness and preventing complications. However, overall implementation of P4K remains suboptimal in several settings. Conclusion: Strengthening ANC education, enhancing family and community support systems, and optimizing third-trimester risk screening and monitoring are key strategies to improve the effectiveness of P4K implementation. These efforts are essential to reduce maternal complications and contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality in low-resource settings such as Timor-Leste

Abstract

Abstract

Faith-based counseling in Muslim schools is often evaluated in terms of whether participation is associated with students’ religious and behavioral outcomes. Less attention has been given to the internal process that may explain these associations. This study conceptualizes religiosity as an internalization pathway linking school-based Islamic counseling with worship practices and moral behavior among Muslim adolescents. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 202 students who had participated in Islamic counseling activities at an Islamic vocational school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The findings showed that the implementation of Islamic counseling programs was significantly and positively associated with religiosity, worship practices, and moral behavior. Religiosity was also significantly associated with both worship practices and moral behavior. Mediation analysis indicated that religiosity partially mediated the associations between Islamic counseling and worship practices as well as between Islamic counseling and moral behavior. The model explained approximately 64 percent of the variance in worship practices and 60 percent of the variance in moral behavior. These findings suggest that the developmental contribution of Islamic counseling may depend not only on students’ exposure to religious guidance but also on their internalization of religious values as personally meaningful commitments. The study contributes a process-oriented perspective to Islamic school counseling by positioning value internalization as an important mechanism for understanding and evaluating religious and behavioral development.
