Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate and analyze the relationship between food availability, household food security, and history of infectious diseases with the occurrence of malnutrition in toddlers. The method used in this research is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study is toddlers aged 12-59 months in the disaster-prone area of Pantoloan, with a sample of toddlers aged 12-59 months. The results of the study show a significant relationship between food availability and the occurrence of malnutrition in toddlers (p = 0.000). This means that toddlers who do not have guaranteed food availability in the last 12 months have a greater risk of experiencing malnutrition. However, no significant relationship was found between a history of infectious diseases and the occurrence of malnutrition (p = 0.566), possibly due to the mild and non-persistent nature of malnutrition, which does not affect the toddlers' immune system. Furthermore, a significant relationship was found between household food security and the occurrence of malnutrition (p = 0.006). Many families still need to prioritize adequate nutrition for their family, thus improving access to food to meet nutritional needs is still necessary. The study implies a deeper understanding of the factors influencing malnutrition in toddlers in disaster-prone areas and provides a basis for the development of appropriate interventions to improve the nutritional status of toddlers. Efforts to improve food availability and household food security are expected to reduce the risk of malnutrition in toddlers in the area.

Abstract

Labor pain can cause it weakness of the uterine muscles, obstruction of the birth canal and increased maternal anxiety. Anxiety can produce catecholamine hormones that cause tension in the pelvic muscles and affects the mother's pushing force during childbirth so that the pain increases and lengthens the delivery time increases the risk of maternal and fetal death. The purpose of this research is to determine the comparison of counter pressure massage (CPM) and Hegu point cold compresses for labor pain during the 1st active phase. The research method uses a randomized control trial design with two group pretest-posttest plan. Population in this study namely mothers who will give birth in the active phase of the 1st stage with the number of samples A total of 126 people were divided into 2 groups each CPM treatment and cold compresses will be given to the Hegu point. The measuring instruments used are the numerical pain rating scale (PNRS) and pain level recording sheets which have been proven valid and reliable, and have been widely used to measure pain levels. The analysis that will be used is univariate and bivariate analysis paired t test and independent t test. The results of the study showed that there was a difference in the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase before and after counter pressure massage (p=0.000) and cold compress at the hegu point (p=0.000). And there was no difference in the intensity of pain during the first active phase of labor between the counter pressure massage and cold compress groups in the Hegu point group (p=0.546>0.05). Cold compress counter pressure massage on the Hegu point is effective in reducing pain in the first stage of labor and counter pressure massage and cold compresses on the Hegu point group are equally effective in reducing labor pain.

Abstract

Palu City is the capital of Central Sulawesi Province which is prone to earthquakes because there is a fault in the earth's crust known as the Palu-Koro fault. There were 3 disasters at once in Central Sulawesi, namely the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction in 2018. Natural disasters can have an impact on various kinds of losses experienced by the community, including nutritional disorders and disrupted components of food security. Toddlers are the group most vulnerable to nutritional problems and food insecurity in disaster situations up to post-disaster. This study aims to determine household food security and nutritional status of children under five after the disaster in Palu City. This research is a descriptive type of research using a cross-sectional by looking at the relationship between household food security and the nutritional status of children under five after the disaster in Palu City. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 101 respondents consisting of mothers and toddlers. The instruments used were the USDA questionnaire to assess food security and measurements of length or height and weight to measure the nutritional status of children under five. Data collection used a USDA questionnaire to assess household food security and the BB/U index was used to assess the nutritional status of children under five. There is no significant relationship between food security and nutritional status of children under five after the disaster in Palu City. This can happen because children under five with nutritional status of normal or abnormal weight 76.24% come from families with high food security scores. In addition, the existence of good food distribution in Palu City after the disaster occurred was also a cause of good food availability.
