Abstract

The model of research that used in this research was Research and Development (R&D). This research aims to produce bilingual biology textbook for Junior High School grade IX semester I which integrated by Cambridge curriculum that valid. The subjects of the research are two biologists, a biology teacher, and twenty eight student’s grade IX semester I at Junior High School of 12 Makassar. This research was conducted by using modification of 4-D development model, it consist of Define, Design, and Develop. Disseminate stage did not conducted because of fund and time limit of the research. The technique of data collection in this research was the data from validation results of bilingual biology textbook that obtained from validation questionnaire which filled by validator, and small group test questionnaire which filled by students. The data collected were analyzed by using statistics descriptive analysis. Biology bilingual textbook that developed has components that are Start Lab, Mini Lab, Biology’s Job, Bio Facts, Bio Online, reading check, Bio Lab, Vocabulary, Scientist, Review, Think Critically and Assessment. The result of the research showed that the average total score of biology bilingual textbook validity categorized valid (4,4). The result of the students responses categorized into very good (71,19%), good (23,09%), quite good (5,48%), and less good (0,24%). Based on this research result, it can be concluded that the bilingual biology textbook for Junior High School grade IX semester I has had a high degree of validity.

Abstract

This study utilized a quasi-experimental research design in the form of a pretest-posttest control group. It aimed to examine the impact of textbooks assisted by quartet cards on science literacy skills and student learning motivation. The research sampling was conducted through a simple random technique, selecting XI MIPA 5 class as the treatment group and XI MIPA 3 as the control group. Data was collected using multiple-choice tests to measure science literacy skills and questionnaires to assess student learning motivation. The descriptive and inferential analyses were conducted, employing non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney) as the data analysis technique in this study. The results of the descriptive analysis illustrated that students taught with textbooks assisted by quartet cards exhibited science literacy skills in the medium category, while their learning motivation was rated as very high. Based on the results of the inferential analysis, a significant difference was observed in the science literacy skills and learning motivation between students using textbooks assisted by quartet cards in the treatment class and those in the control class. The mean rank number in the treatment class consistently exceeded that of the control class in Biology at SMA Negeri 1 Wonomulyo. One limitation of the research is the shortage of quartet cards available for the learning process, which resulted in students taking turns rather than playing simultaneously. To address this, the teacher should prepare additional sets of cards, each accommodating four students, and effectively allocate time during the process of playing cards and answering questions in the textbooks. This will ensure that the learning process runs efficiently and effectively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of hots-oriented Student Worksheets (LKPD) that have been developed. This research is development research with reference to the ADDIE development model. This research was carried out at SMA Negeri 4 Wajo with a research sample, namely 30 students of class XII MIPA Collaboration. Based on the results of the study, it can be stated that the HOTS-oriented LKPD developed is effective, it can be seen from the number of students who achieved the KKM value of 25 people with a percentage classically of 83.33% so that it was declared effective. Key words: effective, LKPD, HOTS, Evolution   ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berorientasi HOTS yang telah dikembangkan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan mengacu pada model pengembangan ADDIE. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 4 Wajo dengan sampel penelitian yaitu peserta didik kelas XII MIPA Kolaborasi sebanyak 30 orang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat dinyatakan bahwa LKPD berorientasi HOTS yang dikembangkan bersifat efektif, hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari jumlah peserta didik yang mencapai nilai KKM sebanyak 25 orang dengan persentase secara klasikal sebesar 83,33% sehingga dinyatakan efektif.  Kata kunci: efektif, LKPD, HOTS, Evolusi

Abstract

In recent years, many government initiatives in the field of education have been directed at developing curriculum and learning systems that emphasize students' scientific literacy skills. This community partnership program (PKM) aims to improve biology teachers' understanding of scientific literacy competencies and how to design science literacy-oriented learning. We selected a group of ten high school biology teachers (five groups) as the target subjects of the PKM program. PKM activities are designed for six months (May to November 2022), with a variety of topics and activities, including individual and group assignments, discussions, and presentations, both online (Zoom) and face-to-face. During PKM activities, biology teachers have the opportunity to explore the conceptual framework of several models or learning approaches that are science literacy-oriented. Groups of biology teachers also practice designing learning stages for each of the models or approaches that have been chosen. The learning models or approaches chosen by teachers during PKM activities vary, including project-based learning, STEM education, science process skills approaches, differentiated learning, and social-scientific issues-oriented learning. The resulting learning design shows that the PKM program helps teachers improve their knowledge of science literacy-oriented biology learning.

Abstract

Abstrak  Pelatihan Bersama melestarikan lingkungan dalam hal “Pengenalan Buah Lerak Sapindus rarak sebagai Bahan Alami Pembuatan Sabun” untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, mempopulerkan, dan menggugah masyarakat di Kota Makassar dalam memanfaatkan kembali lerak sebagai bahan alami sabun. Pelatihan kepada masyarakat ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan dapat memanfaatkan kembali bahan  alami dalam penerapannya di kehidupan sehari-hari. Metode yang telah dilakukan dalam kegiatan ini secara bertahap yaitu pemaparan materi dengan pengenalan bahan-bahan dan cara kerja pengelolaan, demostrasi, dan diskusi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat sudah mengetahui pemanfaatan lerak sebagai bahan sabun serta manfaat lainnya. Selain pemanfaatan lerak sebagai bahan sabun, secara mandiri masyarakat dapat memanfaatkannya sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan penerapannya. Seluruh peserta telah memiliki keterampilan dan pengetahuan sehingga peluang untuk pemanfaatan lerak semakin terbuka lebar hingga pada usaha budidaya tumbuhan lerak. Selama kegiatan berlangsung seluruh peserta menunjukkan antusiasme sangat tinggi terhadap kegiatan pelatihan ini.                                                                                                                                        Kata Kunci: Buah Lerak, Bahan Alami, Sabun  Abstract Training to preserve the environment Together in terms of "Introduction of Sapindus rarak Lerak Fruit as a Natural Ingredient for Making Soap" to increase knowledge, popularize and inspire people in Makassar City to reuse lerak as a natural soap ingredient. This training for the community is to increase knowledge and be able to reuse natural materials in their application in everyday life. The method that has been carried out in this activity is in stages, namely presentation of the material with an introduction to the materials and how management works, demonstration and discussion. The results of the activity show that the community already knows about the use of lerak as a soap ingredient and other benefits. Apart from using lerak as a soap ingredient, people can independently use it according to their needs and application. All participants have the skills and knowledge so that opportunities for the use of lerak are increasingly wide open in the business of cultivating lerak plants. Abstract

Not only issuing alumni who have qualified knowledge, producing young entrepreneurs is also one of the roles of a university. One of the programs held to support this achievement is the implementation of the Campus Intellectual Product Business Development Program or PPUPIK. Through PPUPIK, student creativity will also develop optimally. One of the PPUPIK activities that was developed in the Biological Experimental Garden Laboratory (LKPB) FMIPA UNM in 2019 was hydroponic development training for students. The hydroponic system is a cultivation system using water that contains nutrients and minerals without soil. Hydroponics training was held for one semester at the Biology Experimental Garden, FMIPA UNM, attended by 20 students. The types of hydroponics that were trained included (1) simple hydroponics from Styrofoam, (2) Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), (3) EBB and Flow Technique (EFT), and (4) Deep Flow Technique (DFT). The training was carried out using a number of methods, namely interviews, focus group discussions (FGD), demonstrations, and work practices. From this hydroponic training, 11 types of hydroponic installations were produced that can be developed by students to later be used in entrepreneurship activities in related fields.

Abstract

This research is survey research, to determine biology cognitive abilities students in grade X students in the public high schools in Makassar City. The study population was all students of class X science from 23 public high schools in Makassar City in the 2022/2023 academic year. Sample withdrawal was carried out using cluster random sampling and simple random sampling techniques. The total number of research samples was 254 students taken from 8 schools, namely: SMAN 4 Makassar, SMAN 5 Makassar, SMAN 6 Makassar, SMAN 9 Makassar, SMAN 14 Makassar, SMAN 16 Makassar, SMAN 20 Makassar, and SMAN 21 Makassar. The instrument used was 25 items of multiple-choice questions. Data collection was done by distributing tests to students. Data analysis was done descriptively. The results showed that the biology cognitive competencies of class X science pupils at public high school in Makassar City in the low category as of many as 81 people (31.89%), medium category as many as 127 people (50%), high category as many as 31 people (12.2%) and very high category as many as 15 people (5.91%). Based on these results, the cognitive ability of biology class X science students of public senior high school in Makassar City is classified in the medium category.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament Type Cooperative Learning Model to Improve the Science Learning Outcomes for the V Students at SD Negeri 163 Tellulimpoe, Majauleng District, Wajo Regency. This type of research is a classroom action research conducted in the V of SD Negeri 163 Tellulimpoe with a totaly of 16 students as subjects consisting of 8 boys and 8 girls. Data collection techniques in this research used an observation and tests. The data analysis technique used in this research is a quantitative. Based on the results of this research that has been carried out, the student learning outcomes increase through the implementation of the teams games tournament type cooperative learning model. This can be seen from the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes of 62.5% in cycle I, to 81.25% in cycle II, an increase of 18.75%. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the team games tournament type cooperative learning model can improve learning outcomes in science subjects for fifth grade students at SD Negeri 163 Tellulimpoe

Abstract

The unavailability of high-yielding varieties can cause low production of tomatoes. Excellent variety construction in plant-breeding programs is possible as an effort to solve the tomato cultivation problem. This study aimed to evaluate the yield of several tomato strains from the cross-breeding product of Mawar × Chung. This study was conducted at the experimental garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Hassanuddin University from April to July 2023. From the results, a strain with high productivity level was obtained from the KM 10.10.6 (g6), which produced an average of 1432.64 g and was significantly different from both parent plants. This strain also had high heritability levels of plant height, dichotomic height, number of branches, flowering period, harvesting period, number of fruit bunches, number of fruits, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit weight and productivity. Moreover, this strain had four characteristics that positively correlated to production, namely plant height, stem diameter, number of branches, and number of fruits

Abstract

Abstract. Electronic Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on Science Process Skills (KPS) on Cell material with the aim of producing electronic LKPDs that can help solve problems in the field and meet valid and practical criteria. Material development and design of electronic worksheets using the Moodle LMS. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model which has five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were expert lecturers who carried out the validity of the instruments and products developed, Biology subject teachers, and students of class XI MIA 3 SMA Negeri 1 Soppeng as subjects to test the practicality of the product. The results showed, that the developed electronic LKPD product is valid and practical. Thus, it can be concluded that the KPS-based electronic LKPD in the class XI high school cell material developed is suitable for use in the learning process.Keywords: electronic student worksheets, ADDIE, science process skills, cells.
