Abstract

Practicums or experiments in laboratories are one of the main characteristics of Natural Sciences (IPA) learning in junior high schools, as a process of gaining knowledge and skills that students should experience. However, practical activities in schools often cannot be carried out, due to unavailability of equipment. One of the materials that basically requires students to do practical work is the material on separating mixtures. The aim of this activity is: to increase the knowledge and creativity of science teachers in creating/modifying practical tools. The methods used are lectures, discussions and practice testing tools. The target of this activity is 30 science teachers in junior high schools who are members of the Metro City Science Subject Teachers' Conference. The data collection technique in this activity uses a pretest and is then analyzed by calculating N-Gain. The results of the activities that have been carried out show an increase in teachers' understanding of mixture separation material, as indicated by the average n-gain between pretest and posttest of 0.73; increasing teacher insight regarding making practical tools, increasing teacher skills in designing practical tools. In addition, the average teacher satisfaction with the training activities carried out was 93% (very good category). Based on these results, it can be concluded that training activities are effective in increasing teachers' understanding and creativity in modifying practical tools.Keywords: practical tools; separation of mixtures; teacher training AbstrakPraktikum atau percobaan di laboratorium merupakan salah satu karakteristik utama pada pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) di SMP, sebagai suatu proses untuk mendapatkan pengetahuan, dan keterampilan yang seyogyanya dialami oleh siswa. Akan tetapi, kegiatan praktikum di sekolah sering kali tidak dapat dilakukan, karena tidak tersedianya alat. Salah satu materi yang dasarnya mengharuskan siswa melakukan praktikum adalah materi pemisahan campuran. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah: meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kreativitas guru IPA dalam membuat/memodifikasi alat praktikum. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah, diskusi, dan praktik uji coba alat. Sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah guru-guru IPA yang berjumlah 30 orang di SMP yang tergabung dalam Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran IPA Kota Metro. Teknik pengambilan data dalam kegiatan ini menggunakan pretest dan yang kemudian di analisis dengan menghitung N-Gain. Hasil dari kegiatan yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman guru tentang materi pemisahan campuran, yang ditunjukkan dengan n-gain rata-rata antara pretest dan postest sebesar 0,73; meningkatnya wawasan guru terkait pembuatan alat praktikum, meningkatnya keterampilan guru dalam mendesain alat praktikum. Di samping itu, diperoleh rata-rata kepuasan guru terhadap kegiatan pelatihan yang dilaksanakan sebesar 93% (kategori sangat baik). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan kreativitas guru dalam memodifikasi alat praktikum.Kata Kunci: alat praktikum; pelatihan guru; pemisahan campuran

Abstract

SMP/MTs science educators in Pringsewu Regency face significant obstacles in implementing Independent Curriculum-based learning. One of the obstacles is related to educators' understanding and skills in developing differentiated LKPD that is in accordance with the basic competencies and learning objectives to be achieved. The aim of this training is to increase knowledge and insight about government policies and the theoretical basis of the Independent Curriculum as well as improve educators' abilities in compiling differentiated LKPD based on the Independent Curriculum. The method used in this training consists of workshops, lectures, discussions and questions and answers. The training participants were 30 SMP/MTs science educators in Pringsewu Regency who were accommodated in the MGMP. The data collected is in the form of initial and final test results as well as an assessment of skills in compiling LKPD. The data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively. The results of service activities show an increase in educators' understanding of differentiated SMP/MTs science LKPD based on the Independent Curriculum with final test results with good criteria increasing by 59.48% from initial test results with poor criteria. Educators' skills have increased, especially in compiling differentiated science worksheet worksheets based on the Independent Curriculum. Only some of the differentiated LKPD products which are the work of training participants are of sufficient quality (46%) and good (31%). Meanwhile, only a small portion of the LKPD quality is very good, poor or very poor (8%).Keywords: differentiated learning; independent curriculum; professionalism AbstrakPendidik IPA SMP/MTs di Kabupaten Pringsewu menghadapi kendala yang signifikan dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka. Salah satu kendala terkait dengan pemahaman dan keterampilan pendidik dalam mengembangkan LKPD berdiferensiasi yang sesuai dengan kompetensi dasar dan tujuan pembelajaran yang ingin dicapai. Tujuan pelatihan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan tentang kebijakan pemerintah dan landasan teori tentang Kurikulum Merdeka serta meningkatkan kemampuan pendidik dalam menyusun LKPD berdiferensiasi berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini terdiri dari workshop, ceramah, diskusi dan tanya jawab. Adapun peserta pelatihan adalah 30 pendidik IPA SMP/MTs di Kabupten Pringsewu yang diwadahi dalam MGMP. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa hasil tes awal dan tes akhir serta penilaian keterampilan dalam menyusun LKPD. Analisis data tersebut dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman pendidik tentang LKPD IPA SMP/MTs berdiferensiasi berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka dengan hasil tes akhir dengan kriteria baik meningkat sebesar 59,48% dari hasil tes awal yang berkriteria kurang. Keterampilan pendidik meningkat terutama dalam menyusun LKPD IPA berdiferensiasi berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka. Produk LKPD berdiferensiasi yang merupakan hasil karya peserta pelatihan hanya sebagian yang berkualitas cukup (46%) dan baik (31%). Abstract

This study aims to validate the Student Worksheet titled "ESD-Climate Change," developed using the Understanding by Design approach and complemented by Micro:bit devices. The validation was conducted by three experts, including two academic experts in education and one distinguished educator. Main findings from this study is the validation results reveal that this worksheet adheres to high standards. The "Content" dimension achieved a score of 84.33%, labeled "Very Suitable," signifying its strong relevance to climate change-related learning objectives. The "Construct" dimension garnered a score of 79.17%, categorized as "Suitable," indicating potential for improvement in some construction aspects. The "Language" dimension received an impressive score of 85.90%, also labeled "Very Suitable," highlighting its excellent language quality and communication proficiency. Finally, the "Design" dimension received the highest score of 95.18%, categorized as "Very Suitable," affirming the worksheet's strong design, encompassing its cover and content presentation. Overall, these findings underscore the worksheet's high quality in terms of content, language, and design, with minimal room for improvement in the construction aspect. This study contributes to the development of technology and environment-centered educational materials, which are increasingly pertinent in addressing future challenges associated with climate change.Keywords: ESD, computational thinking, creative problem solving

Abstract

This research aims to develop a practicum tools with assisted by the ESP-32 camera sensor which can be used in learning the matter of light interference at school, as well as to train science process skills. This research uses a Design and Development Research (DDR) approach, which is divided into three stages, that are analysis, design and development, and eval_uation. Before this practicum tool is used in the field to help the learning process, this practicum tool is tested for feasibility first. The feasibility test of the practicum tools for the matter of light interference was carried out using a validity test and practicality test. The results of the practicum tools validity test obtained a percentage of 86% with a very valid category and the indicator for the usefulness of practicum tools in science process skills was 81%. The results of the practicality test obtained a percentage of 84% in the very practicality category. Based on these two feasibility tests, it can be concluded that the practicum tool is suitable for use in learning the matter of light interference at school, and can train students' science process skills. Indicators of scientific process skills that are trained are observing, communicating, controlling variables, hypothesizing, experimentation, and interpreting data.

Abstract

The complexity of the problems that occur in classroom learning, lead students to have century skills to support their lives in the future. Thecentury skills that students must have consist of 4C, namely critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, communication and collaboration. This research aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective project-based e-worksheet to improve critical thinking skills on Boyle's legal material. This type of development research is Design and Development Research (DDR) which were adapted from Richey Client (2007) using an assessment of validity tests, practice tests consisting of readability tests, teacher perception tests and student response tests, effectiveness tests consisting of tests normality, N-Gain, Paired Sample T-Test and Independent Sample T-Test. In the validity test results, the average score from the three validators was 3.57, with the average result of material and design validation being 3.53 in the very valid category and material and construct validation of 3.60 in the very valid category. The results of the practicality test obtained an average score of 83.1% for the readability test in the legible category, the student response test was 82% in the very good category, while for the teacher perception test it was 94.7%. So the average practicality test score was 86.6% in the very practical category.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the essential abilities students must possess to face the developments in science and technology in 21st-century learning. The aim of this research is to describe the practicality and effectiveness of ExPRession-based e-worksheet activities in training critical thinking skills. The research design employed a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of students from 12th-grade Science 1 and 3 at Public Senior High School Abung Semuli. Research instruments included observation sheets for lesson implementation, observation sheets for critical thinking activities, and critical thinking skills test sheets. Data on the practicality of learning were obtained through observations, while effectiveness data, in the form of critical thinking skills data, were obtained through pretest and posttest administration, and then analyzed using statistical formulas. Learning with ExPRession-based e-worksheets was deemed effective in training students' critical thinking abilities, as evidenced by the average N-Gain scores in the experimental group being higher than those in the control group. Based on these findings, critical thinking skills improved more significantly in the experimental group compared to the control group. Supported by the results of Independent Sample T-Test and Effect Size tests with a wide category, it can be concluded that ExPRession-based e-worksheet activities are effective in training students' critical thinking skills..

Abstract

In general, the assessment model used by teachers in teaching only revolves around summative assessment, thus students cannot use it to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their skills in learning activities. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Assessment for Learning instrument in project-based physics learning to measure collaboration and problem-solving skills. The research design utilizes a pretest-posttest control group design. The population for this study includes all second-semester eleventh-grade science students, with the sample comprising eleventh-grade science 3 as the experimental group and eleventh-grade science 4 as the control group selected through random sampling technique. The instruments used include the Assessment for Learning learning assessment instrument and assessment to evaluate and improve students' collaboration and problem-solving activities. Data collection techniques involve observation and questionnaire collection. Data are analyzed using descriptive statistical data analysis and inferential statistics. The hypothesis testing results of collaboration and problem-solving skills indicate differences in collaboration and problem-solving skills between the experimental and control classes in project-based physics learning. It is concluded that assessment using AfL in project-based physics learning is effective in measuring collaboration and problem-solving abilities as it exceeds classical mastery.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an inquiry-based e-Worksheet (Electronic Student Worksheets) that is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing science process skills in the topic of light waves with the assistance of Liveworksheet. The research development design used is Design Development Research (DDR), which consists of four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The results of the product validity test obtained an average percentage score of 90.12%, categorized as very valid. The results of the small-scale test, in terms of readability, achieved an average percentage of 85.2%. In the large-scale test, the practicality test, specifically the student response test, received a score of 82.75%, while the teacher perception test obtained a score of 90%. All average scores from both the small-scale and large-scale tests fall into the very practical category. Secondly, the effectiveness test results from the Paired Sample T-Test showed an average of 0.000, indicating that science process skills were well-trained and showed a significant improvement, with an N-Gain score of 0.63 after the implementation of the inquiry-based e- Worksheet. This means that the inquiry-based e- Worksheet, utilizing spectrophotometer lab equipment to train science process skills in light wave topics, is effectively used in the learning process with a moderate category.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and practical project-based learner worksheet to train creative thinking skills and self-regulated learning on alternative energy material. This type of research is Design and Development Research (DDR) adapted from Richey & Klien (2007) using validity test consisting of empiric validation and expert validation, as well as practicality test consisting of readability test, teacher perception test, and learner response test, the effectiveness test consists of the results of the analysis of trained creative thinking skills and self-regulated learning in small groups. The results of the empiric validation test are seen based on the success of the biobattery product turning on the LED in a particular circuit. On the results of the expert validation test, obtained an average score from the three experts of 3.24, with the average score on the media and design aspects obtained at 3.32 with very valid category, and the material and construct aspects obtained at 3.15 with a valid category. The results of the practicality test obtained an average score for the readability test of 83.8% with a very practical category, the teacher perception test of 87.3% with a very good category, and the learner response test of 84.7% with a very good category, obtained an average practicality test score of 85.3% with a very practical category. The effectiveness test was seen based on the results of the analysis of trained creative thinking skills obtained the results of 81% and the analysis of trained self-regulated skills.

Abstract

The improvement of Creative Problem-Solving (CPS) ability in physics learning still needs to be enhanced to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing the 5E model integrated with STEM-EDP on high school students' CPS ability in the topic of Renewable Energy. This research was conducted at SMA Islam Global Surya using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of class X-1 as the experimental group and class X-2 as the control group. The research instrument used was essay-type questions. The implementation of the 5E model integrated with STEM-EDP was found to be effective in improving students' Creative Problem-Solving ability. This is evident from the average N-Gain score of the experimental class, which was 0.56, higher than the control class with an average N-Gain score of 0.39. Additionally, this finding is supported by the results of the Independent Sample T-Test and Paired Sample T-Test, where the obtained Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.00 < 0.05. Furthermore, the ANCOVA test results also showed a significance value of 0.00 < 0.05. The effectiveness of implementing the 5E model integrated with STEM-EDP in enhancing high school students' CPS ability in the topic of Renewable Energy falls into the high category, as indicated by the effect size test results, with a partial eta squared (η²) value of 0.434. This improvement is based on the Constructivism Theory and Behaviorism Theory, which allows students to build new knowledge by connecting it to prior experiences through interactions involving stimulus and response during the learning process.
