Abstract

In production systems, optimal raw material inventory management is crucial in maintaining production continuity. Excess inventory will increase storage costs, while inventory shortages can cause production disruptions and lost sales opportunities. Therefore, in this study, the aim is to determine the control of raw material inventory in the manufacture of floor ceramics, namely Andesite by utilizing the min-max stock method, where later in the data processing, forecasting is carried out with time series methods such as Double Exponential Smoothing, Moving Average, Weight Moving Average, and Linier Regression. Based on the results of data processing, the forecasting model using Linear Regression was selected because it has the smallest Mean Square Error (MSE) value, then the calculation results are used to determine the amount of safety stock, minimum and maximum stock, reorder point to order frequency. The calculation results obtained inventory value produces a minimum stock value of 658,182 KG, and a maximum stock of 1,276,183 KG. The quantity in one order is 1,236,001 KG with an order frequency of 60 times. The research results obtained can be used as an inventory policy at PT AB in reducing stockouts on Andesite raw materials using the Min-max stock method. Abstract

Demand for carton boxes is a critical aspect of the industrial supply chain, particularly in ensuring the smooth flow of production and distribution processes at PT PDPPM. Inaccuracies in forecasting carton box demand have led to several issues, such as excess inventory or packaging material shortages, which disrupt operations and increase storage costs. This study aims to forecast the demand for cardboard boxes at PT PDPPM using two analytical approaches: Moving Average and Linear Regression. Moving Average is applied to identify demand patterns by smoothing fluctuations in historical data, while Linear Regression is used to analyze the relationship between independent variables that influence demand. The results of this study indicate that the Moving Average approach provides stable predictions and tends to be more suitable for data with seasonal patterns, whereas Linear Regression offers additional insights into the influence of external factors on demand. The evaluation was conducted quantitatively using statistical indicators such as Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD), Mean Squared Error (MSE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE), where the Linear Regression method demonstrated the lowest error rate. The combination of these two methods is expected to provide a more accurate forecasting outlook, beneficial for production planning and inventory management at PT PDPPM. Abstract

Kualitas produk merupakan faktor penting dalam menjaga daya saing industri kimia, terutama pada perusahaan yang menghasilkan bahan berisiko tinggi seperti Ammonium Nitrate. Permasalahan utama yang terjadi di PT X adalah cacat produk berupa caking, yaitu kondisi ketika partikel saling menempel dan membentuk gumpalan padat sehingga menurunkan kualitas dan kemampuan alir produk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor penyebab terjadinya cacat caking serta memberikan usulan perbaikan agar mutu produk tetap terjaga. Metode yang digunakan adalah Fishbone Diagram dan 5 Whys untuk mengidentifikasi akar penyebab masalah dari lima faktor utama, yaitu manusia, mesin, metode, material, dan lingkungan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, diketahui bahwa penyebab utama cacat berasal dari beban kerja operator yang tinggi, sistem kontrol mesin yang tidak dikalibrasi secara rutin, penerapan sistem FIFO yang belum optimal, variasi kualitas bahan baku, serta tidak adanya pengatur suhu saat distribusi. Usulan perbaikan yang direkomendasikan meliputi pelatihan operator, penerapan program Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), audit vendor secara berkala, serta pemasangan sensor suhu pada kendaraan distribusi. Penerapan perbaikan ini diharapkan dapat menurunkan tingkat cacat caking, meningkatkan efisiensi proses produksi, serta menjaga konsistensi kualitas Ammonium Nitrate di PT X.

Abstract

Companies involved in production activities consistently strive to achieve their strategic objectives, with profit maximization being one of the primary goals for maintaining competitiveness and ensuring long-term business sustainability. This goal can be pursued through optimal production planning, one of which involves the application of the Simplex Method (SM). The Simplex Method is a mathematical algorithm designed to solve Linear Programming (LP) problems, which focus on optimizing a linear objective function while accounting for various resource-related constraints. This paper presents a systematic literature review on the implementation of the Simplex Method for profit optimization in the manufacturing sector. A total of 30 relevant research articles published between 2019 and 2024 were analyzed, sourced from reputable academic databases such as Google Scholar and ScienceDirect. The findings demonstrate that the Simplex Method offers substantial benefits, including improved resource allocation, cost reduction, enhanced decision-making capabilities, increased productivity, and support for data-driven operational efficiency. These advantages underscore the method’s effectiveness as a quantitative decision-support tool in strategic industrial planning. The review also highlights the broad applicability of the Simplex Method across various countries and industrial sectors, particularly in food, automotive, chemical, and textile manufacturing. As the manufacturing landscape transitions into the era of Industry 4.0, it is strongly recommended that future research explores the integration of the Simplex Method with emerging technologies such as Big Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), and Hybrid Optimization Models to further enhance industrial competitiveness, adaptability, and sustainability.

Abstract

Abstrak                                                                                 Keberadaan limbah yang berasal dari kemasan plastik ternyata dapat memberikan dampak negatif lingkungan, kesehatan manusia, dan keberlanjutan bumi. Dalam konteks penggunaannya, plastik digunakan sebagai salah satu opsi utama kemasan bagi produk pada unit usaha industri rumah tangga (home industry). Home industry Opak Pajaten menggunakan kemasan plastik pada produknya. Hal ini dikarenakan rendahnya pengetahuan mitra akan pengaruh kemasan plastik, dan jenis produk kemasan ramah lingkungan (eco-friendly packaging) yang dapat digunakan sebagai kemasan Opak. Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (Unsika), dan Universitas Pasim Bandung melalui Hibah Prioritas Unsika (HIPKA) Bidang Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) tahun 2023 melakukan PkM pada home industry Opak Pajaten untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra terkait salah satu jenis eco-friendly packaging yaitu Honeycomb Paperwarp. Honeycomb Paperwrap dibuat dari bahan daur ulang dengan keunggulan ringan sehingga sangat cocok digunakan sebagai kemasan pada produk unit usaha. Kegiatan PkM dilakukan dengan memperkenalkan produk Honeycomb Paperwrap sebagai rekomendasi kemasan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan harapan konsumen, dapat meningkatkan tampilan produk, serta tetap memberikan pengaruh pada kelestarian lingkungan.  Kata kunci: industri rumah tangga; honeycomb paperwrap; kemasan ramah lingkungan AbstractWaste originating from plastic packaging negatively impacts the environment, human health, and the earth's sustainability. In its context, plastic is one of the leading packaging options for products in home industry business units. Opak Pajaten's home industry uses plastic packaging for its products. This is due to the partners' low knowledge of the influence of plastic packaging and the types of environmentally friendly packaging products that can be used as Opak packaging. Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (Unsika) and Universitas Pasim Bandung, through the Hibah Prioritas Unsika (HIPKA) Bidang Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) tahun 2023  in 2023, conducted PkM at the Opak Pajaten home industry to increase partners' knowledge regarding one type of eco-friendly packaging, namely Honeycomb Paperwarp. Honeycomb Paperwrap is made from recycled materials with the advantage of being light, so it is very suitable for packaging business unit products. PkM activities are carried out by introducing the Honeycomb Paperwrap product as a recommendation for packaging that suits consumer needs and expectations, can improve the product's appearance, and still impact environmental sustainability. Keywords: home industry; honeycomb paperwrap; eco-friendly packaging
