Abstract

Preeclampsia is a complication of pregnancy due to increased blood pressure, accompanied by proteinuria and odema. Risk factors include primigravida, multiple pregnancy, extreme age at pregnancy, previous history of preeclampsia, family history, and diseases such as kidney, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of preeclampsia with ureum and creatinine levels in pregnant women at RSUD Dr. Rubini Mempawah. This research is descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. The population was all pregnant women who visited in May-July 2024 at RSUD Dr. Rubini Mempawah, with purposive sampling technique. Examination of ureum using Enzym Method and creatinine with IFCC Method. Of the 65 respondents, high ureum levels were found in 20 people (30.8%), with 7 people having preeclampsia and 13 people not. High creatinine levels were found in 21 people (32.3%), consisting of 11 people with preeclampsia and 10 without preeclampsia. Chi-Square test showed a p value = 0.438 (> 0.05) for ureum, indicating no relationship, so Ha was rejected. While p = 0.003 (<0.05) for creatinine, indicating there is an association, so Ha is accepted. In conclusion, there is no relationship between preeclampsia and ureum levels and there is a relationship between preeclampsia and creatinine levels in pregnant women at RSUD Dr. Rubini Mempawah

Abstract

Food safety is a critical public health issue, especially in institutional settings such as university canteens, where large populations are served daily. Inadequate hygiene and sanitation practices by food handlers can lead to foodborne illnesses, placing students and staff at risk. This study evaluated hygiene and sanitation conditions in the canteens of a leading public university in South Sumatra Province, Indonesia, known for its active food service facilities. This study examined food handlers’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices and assessed the microbiological safety of chicken curry by testing for Escherichia coli (E. coli) contamination and total plate count. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 35 food handlers and 7 chicken curry samples across multiple canteens. Structured questionnaires and microbiological analysis were employed. Results revealed that although most food handlers demonstrated good knowledge and positive attitudes, 57.1% exhibited poor hygiene practices. Several chicken curry samples exceeded acceptable E. coli levels, indicating potential health risks. These findings underscore the urgent need for ongoing hygiene training, strict supervision, and standardized certification for food handlers to mitigate microbial hazards and ensure food safety in university settings.

Abstract

Many factors contribute to the declining total fertility rate, including family planning programs. The successful implementation of the family planning method might be influenced by how the decision to choose a contraceptive method was made. This study aimed to examine the correlation between family planning decision-makers and modern contraceptive use among married/in-union women of reproductive age in Uzbekistan. The 2021-2022 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey was used by selecting only married/in-union women of reproductive age of 15 to 49 years, totaling 2,794 eligible samples. The modern family planning use variables were divided into not using, using Long-Acting Contraceptives (LAC), and Short-Acting Contraceptives (SAC). The univariate, bivariate (Chi-square and ANOVA), and multinomial logistic regression were performed. Family planning decision-makers from both women and husbands/partners, healthworkers, or others were significantly associated with modern contraceptive use for SAC and LAC, respectively. The type of family planning methods was significantly influenced by decision makers. Spouses, family members, and health workers need to implicate women to decide the most applicable contraceptive method.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic, originated in China, has spread to worldwide, including Indonesia. Until July 2021, the growth rate has been gradually increasing, and cases have been found in all 34 provinces of Indonesia. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of health personnel in the primary health care towards the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia using online self-report questionnaire. A total of 440 respondents contributed to this online survey. The average level of KAP were 7.7 out of 10.0, 14.3 out of 15.0, and 31.9 out of 36.0, respectively. There was no significant association between respondents’ characteristics (sex, marital status, and age) and their KAP for all variables showed p-value>0.05. It can be concluded that the level of KAP was good, despite the respondents’ characteristics that had no association with KAP.
