Abstract

The low speaking skills of elementary school students are often attributed to the lack of learning activities that encourage active participation, as the learning process remains largely teacher-centered. This condition leads to students struggling to formulate words and speak fluently in front of the class. This study aims to describe the improvement of speaking skills through the implementation of the cooperative learning model, Team Games Tournament (TGT) type. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with both qualitative and quantitative approaches, conducted over two cycles comprising planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were a teacher and 18 fourth-grade students at SDN 04 Buo. Data were collected through observation and speaking skill tests. The results showed improvement across all aspects: the instructional module increased from 87.49% (good category) to 93.75% (very good category); teacher and student performance improved from 87.49% to 95.83%; and students’ speaking skills rose from 79.89% to 92.11%. These findings demonstrate that the Team Games Tournament model is effective in enhancing students’ speaking abilities through more interactive and competitive learning. The implication is that this model can serve as an alternative strategy for teaching Bahasa Indonesia, focusing on actively and enjoyably strengthening language skills.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the lack of understanding among students regarding the material in Pancasila Education lessons, resulting in students being less active in the learning process. This has led to low learning outcomes among students. The objective of this study is to develop a valid, practical, and effective jigsaw puzzle media for Pancasila Education lessons based on the STAD Cooperative Learning model in fourth-grade elementary school classrooms. This study employs a research and development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the following stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This study used two learning activities, namely learning activity 1 and learning activity 2, which were conducted at the pilot school, SDN 14 Laban, and the research school, SDN 23 Painan Utara. Product validation was carried out by three expert validators, namely material, language, and media validation. In addition, practicality tests were conducted, consisting of teacher response questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The effectiveness test was conducted on student learning outcomes through pre-tests and post-tests and by observing improvements in student learning outcomes in terms of attitude, knowledge, and skills.

This study developed a digital learning medium based on Google Sites to improve Civic Education learning in grade V elementary schools. The research aimed to produce a valid, practical, and effective medium for the topic “Norms in My Life.” Using the ADDIE development model, the study involved analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Participants were grade V students and teachers from three public elementary schools in Padang. Instruments included expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and pretest–posttest assessments. Data were analyzed using percentages and N-Gain scores. Results showed that expert validation reached 93.89% (very valid), teacher practicality 99.17% (very practical), and student practicality 87.82% (very practical). Effectiveness testing indicated a significant improvement in learning outcomes, with the average pretest score of 78.9 increasing to 96.6 in the posttest, and an N-Gain score of 0.90 in the high category. These findings confirm that Google Sites-based media effectively supports interactive and contextual Civic Education learning in elementary schools.
