Abstract

The construction of an impulsivity measurement scale is one of the methods that can be used to assess the impulsive tendencies of prisoners in Correctional Institutions (LAPAS). This is because impulsivity is one of the factors that contribute to the formation of various behavioral and psychological problems in prisoners during their prison term. This study aims to produce a new impulsivity scale based on the characteristics of the impulsive behavior of prisoners. The sampling technique used is quota sampling. This research involved 227 respondents in study 1 and 375 respondents in study 2. The data analysis methods used were item response theory (IRT), exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The results of the development of the impulsivity scale produced 21 items with six factors forming impulsive behavior. The construct reliability of the six factors ranged from 0.74 - 0.84 and AVE ranged from 0.45 - 0.59. The goodness of fit results also show that the measurement model is acceptable. Keywords: Confirmatory factor analysis, exploratory factor analysis, impulsivity, item response theory, reliability

Abstract

Adolescent girls undergo a developmental stage marked by significant physical and social changes that influence how they perceive themselves, particularly in relation to body image. During this period, they often feel as though they are constantly being observed and judged by others, a psychological phenomenon known as the imaginary audience. These perceptions can shape either a positive or negative body image. This study aimed to examine the relationship between body image and the imaginary audience among adolescent girls in Makassar City. This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and imaginary audience in adolescent girls in Makassar City. The subjects in this study were adolescent girls in Makassar City aged 15 to 17 years. The sample technique used was quota sampling. Body Image was measured using the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales (MBSRQ-AS), imaginary audience was measured using the New Imaginary Audience Scale (NIAS). Hypothesis testing using Spearman Rank correlation analysis. The results of the analysis obtained are p = 0.000 <0.005 or there is a very significant relationship between body image and imaginary audience in adolescent girls in Makassar City. The correlation coefficient of body image variable with imaginary audience is 0.476 or classified as moderate. These findings suggest that the more positive the body image, the greater the tendency to experience an imaginary audience. The implications highlight the importance to helping adolescent girls develop a positive body image so they can become more confident and less concerned about how others judge them.

Abstract

The phenomenon of body shaming behavior is still often found among the public, especially in early adult women. One of the factors that cause individuals to do body shaming is eating disorder behavior that makes individuals less satisfied with body shape and feel that they do not reach ideal standards. This study aims to determine the relationship of body shaming to the tendency of eating disorders in early adult women. The sample in this study was 350 early adult female subjects aged 18-25 years who were domiciled in Makassar City. The sample is obtained by filling out the scan link via google form. Data collection was carried out using two research instruments, namely the body shaming scale and the eating disorder tendency clause. Test the hypothesis using Wilcoxon Theta correlation analysis. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between body shaming and eating disorder tendencies in early adult women with a theta result of 0.536. That is, the higher the tendency to eating disorder, the higher the body shaming experienced by the subject.

Abstract

Students who are victims of body shaming can experience psychological distress, namely symptoms of depression and anxiety. So it is important to maintain psychological well-being through an optimistic mindset. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an influence of optimism on psychological distress in students who are victims of body shaming. Sampling used an accidental sampling technique with a total of 120 respondents who were Makassar State University students who were victims of body shaming. Hypothesis testing was carried out using non-linear regression analysis methods with exponential models. The results of this research hypothesis test show that there is a negative and very significant influence between optimism and psychological distress (r=-0.628; p=0.000). The contribution of optimism to psychological distress among Makassar State University students who are victims of body shaming is 39.5%. Other findings in this research show that the three aspects of optimism, namely permanence, pervasiveness and personalization, have a negative correlation with the two aspects of psychological distress, namely depression and anxiety. The conclusion in this research is that optimism has an influence on psychological distress in students who are victims of body shaming. The higher the optimism possessed by students who experience body shaming, the lower the level of psychological distress.
