Abstract

Mastery of vocabulary is a crucial element in learning Arabic, particularly for young children. However, the main challenge in this process is making the learning experience both engaging and effective, in line with the developmental characteristics of 5-6-year-old children. This study aims to examine the use of the singing method as a strategy to enhance vocabulary mastery in early childhood. The research adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach, gathering data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the singing method successfully creates a fun learning environment, boosts children's motivation, and helps them easily remember and acquire Arabic vocabulary. The chosen songs feature simple vocabulary that aligns with children's everyday lives, accompanied by movements to reinforce understanding and encourage active participation. The implementation of this method also supports the development of children's cognitive, emotional, and motor skills. Therefore, the singing method has proven to be an effective and innovative approach in teaching Arabic to 5-6-year-old children.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the singing method in teaching Arabic to early childhood learners. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through direct field observations, interviews with practitioners, and literature reviews. The findings highlight that singing is an effective approach to introduce Arabic vocabulary to children, enhancing their ability to recall words and improving their pronunciation. Songs with simple, relatable themes, such as hijaiyah letters, numbers, and family names, facilitate language acquisition by making learning enjoyable and engaging. Additionally, the singing method fosters children's motivation and active participation in the learning process while also developing their critical thinking and creativity. However, challenges such as limited Arabic-themed songs and classroom dynamics in large groups were noted. Despite these limitations, the singing method is recommended for early childhood education due to its positive impact on linguistic and cognitive development. Teachers are encouraged to innovate by creating new songs or adapting existing ones to further improve learning outcomes.

Abstract

Language is a fundamental element in communication and child development, including in learning foreign languages such as Arabic. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of using game-based methods in teaching Arabic to early childhood learners. Games were chosen for their interactive, enjoyable nature and their ability to meet the psychological developmental needs of children. This research employs a qualitative approach with a literature study method, involving the analysis of various secondary sources, with eight journals analyzed in-depth. The findings reveal that games not only enhance linguistic skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) but also support children's social, cognitive, and motor development. The types of games analyzed include traditional games like kideng, picture guessing games, sequential picture games, spinning wheel games, card games, songs, and snake-and-ladder games. Additionally, games motivate children to learn actively, reduce boredom, and promote social engagement. In conclusion, a game-based approach is an effective and enjoyable method for teaching Arabic while simultaneously instilling Islamic values in early childhood. These findings provide new insights for educators in designing creative and adaptive Arabic learning tailored to children's needs.
